Are we ever going to find out who was running that mysterious Superadine lab?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say Nemesis.
I have no actual backup to support that claim, but I blame Nemesis for everything. I swear it seems he's been responsible for over half of everything that's happened in Paragon's history, and more. Hell, it's probably Nemesis' fault I woke up before my alarm this morning. And I'm sure it was part of some grand, over-arching scheme to collect the unused sleeping energy of the world's populace to fuel a hypnobomb or somesuch.
Curse you, Prince of Autonomy! /e shakefist
Edit after Infamousbrad's post snuck in before mine: Hah! I knew it!
...oh crap, does this mean there really IS a steam-powered hypno-bomb?

Y'know, I blaim Nemesis for starting the Rikti War... no really, I do...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, he does have advanced interdimensional technology... ...Oh great, now I'm paranoid.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've thought this exact same thing, except that it doesn't seem as if Nemmy ever actually took any advantage of the invasion situation, either as it was hapening or in the years since.
...which, of course, doesn't mean that isn't exactly what he WANTS us to think, so as to distance himself from the evernt and stay unnoticed as he works upon his other machiavelian schemes...
...but then again, he probably KNEW that some of us would come up with that hypothesis, which is exactly what he wants us to believe, when in truth he's actually just did it to give himself a few months to it back and sip tea without being barged in on by heroes while they fought off the rikti...
...unless THAT is what he wants us to think!!
...I hate Nemesis.
[/ QUOTE ]
I recall reading somewhere that Nemesis, unlike the other villains, actively fought the Rikti, and the losses he sustained is the reason he didn't take over in the aftermath or something.
I also recall Praetorian Nemmy is like a freedom fighter kind of, right? Or at least opposed to Tyrant? -
I, for one, think the Devs should fix this bug immediatly!
Then, once Stalkers become even more powerful in PvP, I, for one, will then demand that they be nerfed accordingly.
(I kid, I kid!)
But seriously, Stalkers are doing fiiiine in PvP, I can understand this bug being a low priority.
There are more pressing PvP bugs, Brute Fury being totally borked for one. -

I'd like to see a few more 'feminine' emotes.
I'm still disappointed that CoH doesn't even have 'curtsey'.
How about some classic evil-female emotes, perhaps a sultry stroke on the target chest with one finger followed by a slap. Maybe a rake with the fingernails (extra lengthened) or a simple arms-out-spin-and-classic-pose....or just a knee in the groin, even?
[/ QUOTE ]
The reason those were not included was the Devs tried them out using the Huge model and figured everyone would be laughing too much to play the game. -
Desperation, that is perfect ability for Blasters on so many levels.
Makes sense for balance as well, it gives us survivability by letting us kill things before they kill us, but won't allow us to cruise through with no risk because we have to be challenged to be strong. And it holds with the Blaster damage dealing role. I like it. Good move Jack. -
Personally I started my main in GC because Backalley Brawler made me think GC would be a tougher part of town, where as Ms Liberty made me think of patriotic boyscout heroes. And those inklings were is correct, what with the Vahz in GC, but I think GC needs something interesting in it besides the Park, which is an RP hangout on Virtue.
I know it is alot to ask, but perhaps changing one of the areas to an apartment complex overrun by Hellions. A grimy collection of buildings rising out of the industrial parks and warehouses, a patchwork of alleys full of gangsters, that sort of thing. Make it a yellow or red zone so the noobs will look at it and go, "Coo!l I wanna go there!" but have to prove themselves by gaining one or two levels first. Something to aspire to within the zone, a first initial challenge. Plus it would fit with the whole Backalley Brawler thing. There really are no backalleys in GC with all the warehouses which are not that interesting. -

Trip Mine gets replaced by Grenade: change it from a drop to a ranged drop (ala caltrops) so you can lob it at range, its still triggered like trip mine.
Time Bomb stays time bomb.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually I would make it the other way around and decrease the damage on Time Bomb. TBs flaw is you must be completely stealthed to plant one, and can't stack them. Adding the ranged drop would be cool and would give Device Blasters a power we can use without holding up the rest of the team while we either stealth in or stack mines. -
And the award for most off topic thread goes to.... Blaster Role!
This thread is about the role of the Blaster, not "OMG hepheastus is an azz clown."
States said our role was ranged damage, let's try and stick to that topic.
Now the way I see it in order to be "ranged damage" you must be, one ranged, and two damaging. As it stands there is very little incentive for a Blaster to stay at range because evidently by "Support" the Devs meant "More Damage Stuff" and alot of that stuff happens to have a melee range. The second thing is damage. Even though Blasters should be the primary damage dealers we are outclassed by Scrappers.
I have said it before and I will say it again, Blasters don't need thier secondary sets changed if, and this is a big if, they get some kind of range benefit (IE scaled defense buff) and, note and, more damage so that the Blaster is much more useful that the Scrapper in a team. If Blasters aren't way better than Scrappers in teams, Scrappers and Blasters will be interchangable on teams because the Scrapper requires very little support. -

Maybe when they add more "raid" encounters an evil alternate version of Blue Steel will turn out to be a mega-powerful archvillain... The poor guy deserves it since he's so ignored...

Shunned by the Praetorians...
Feared by criminals...
Yeah I could see that.

Hasn't Statesman confirmed that he's an 'Incarnate' or something like that?
[/ QUOTE ]
True dat. States and Recluse are Incarnates.
My question is what about the other Supergroups?
Back before Jack took over there was a section on the site for the different NPC SGs, like Moonlight Watch, Dawn Patrol etc. Moonlight Watch was a cool magic themed Supergroup and Dawn Patrol is a British Supergroup headed by Hero 1.
I'd like to see more of the CoH Bible either posted, or given out in game. I think the Devs are just withholding the info to make thier namesake heroes sound more important.
Yeah I'm on to you guys... -
-Long Version-
It all comes down to this, States has balanced Blasters and Scrappers based on the illusion that range puts you out of danger and that melee puts you in danger. As stated many times before, this is not true.
Mobs can outrange Blasters with ease.
Blasters can be easily be stunned from range, and once a blaster is immoblized or otherwise stunned mobs close to melee and kill the Blaster.
Many Blaster attacks have a short range (Power burst, cones) and while the Blaster is rooted mobs can easily close into melee or stun.
The most simple solutions to these problems are , give Blasters a defense buff based on distance from thier enemies, increasing damage so that most of the enemies are defeated upon the initial attack, make Blaster attacks have very short activation times reducing the amount of time spent rooted, remove some of the ranged capabilities from enemies.
Blasters are currently a very fragile AT defined by very cautious and even cowardly tactics. It is not very heroic, or fun, to have to pull a group of enemies around a corner so you don't get slaughtered by thier initial attack, or to have to snipe then hide behind a box for fear of getting attacked or stunned. Comic book Blasters are (usually) reckless, flashy, and high damage dealers. They lay waste to foes left and right, they seem unstoppable, until someone takes one lucky shot and they get knocked down. At that point it is all downhill. In game terms this means Blasters should be near untouchable if they are at range away from the worst of the battle. However they should be screwed by stunners, who can bring everything crashing down.
By taking these ideas I think the best solution would be to either give Blasters a range dependent defense buff, that would make it difficult to deal enough damage to kill them, but a stun would quickly put the Blaster in a very bad situation. If that is not possible then the other course of action would be to increase Blaster damage so that simple minions posed little threat while the Lts and Bosses, typically the stunners, would remain a dangerous foe.
Wow, I typed alot.
-Short Version-
Range should give a defense buff or Blasters should be able to kill enough enemies that attacking a group head on is not a total loss.
This will make Blasters more like thier comic book counter parts and should make them more fun to play. -
How... sudden.
The first one has me perplexed. The begining of the game is not difficult and rather carefree as far as debt. Cool change but, in a word... huh?
The second one...
Cool! Now TFs won't be huge debt fests in the 20s and pickup teams won't be as dangerous.
Nice changes. Not sure why they happened, but nice changes. -
I can't belive it. It's like he read my mind! Actually...
You posted one minute before my complaints... You did read my mind! And I thank you!
This really means alot, I can't say that I am "squriting" like some people, I'm but happy none the less.
Just one thing worries me...
[ QUOTE ]
The major one that strikes me is that the secondaries are not all created equal. A couple complement the primary set SO much better than the rest. That's an issue not just for levels 40 - 50, but for ALL levels.
[/ QUOTE ]
Saying a few are better than the rest means that the rest are getting buffed, not that the good ones are taking one for the AT, right?
Don't let us down States, you've got a great game here.
Oh and thanks again. -

In the second letters to States he said tails will not be fully animated in the forseeable future. So why not just have a tail swish emote? That way characters can emote thier tails, and you don't need to have animations for combat, walking, flying and things like that. Everybody is happy!
PS No I do not play a cat person. -
^And don't do this.
