Hi all.
I've recently been revisiting my first character which I haven't played in a number of months, a Katana/DA scrapper. He was my first character and all my power choices were based on concept rather than on game mechanics. He still plays fine except for the massive hole in DAs armour when it comes to knockback and immobilize.
As a concept toon, I have Fly as my travel power but it seems that all of the /DA scrappers I've ever come across take Superjump to plug the hole with Combat Jumping and Acrobatics. I'm reluctant to do the same and have been using hover with some degree of success. However, I'd like to know if I'm missing anything, some other way I can cover the KB/Immob hole rather than compromise my concept. I can't see one myself but if anyone's got any great ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks. -

dunno how to get it done properly but anyone think this should be [u]stickied[u] as well? would be great for newer players etc. to be able to see straight away and get more new players into the r/p

Eerm, yes. Me. -
Excellent work Z. There's a lot of new roleplayers about and I'd been thinking about drawing something up like this for a while. However, you've beaten me to it and done it a lot better too. I think it would be useful to get this stickied so that prospective RPers can see it and it doesn't get lost in the other threads.

I would be interested in attending this TF but must confess I'm torn on who I would like to bring.
I can bring my lvl 17 AR/Dev Blaster Anathema or
My main's alt, Dante Carver lvl17 Katana/Dark Scrapper.
Either way, count me in. Looking forward to it. -
Looks like you're full but if not, I might manage to come along with my Fire/Fire Blaster, Cinderstrike if I can get him levelled in time for Friday.

Sorry I couldn't make it tonight, real life issues got in the way as they occasionally do. I hope that you still did something, even if the numbers were few. I will be around next week for sure or maybe later in the week if we want to arrange a meeting.
We can arrange to meet new players wherever they would like once we sort out a time to meet. Monday is when we generally gather, apologies that I couldn't be there tonight. -
If you like controls and holds I can definitely recommend Dark/Elec. Two mag 3 holds (stackable) and two pets plus you won't hate Banished Pantheon quite as much as you would with a /Dark secondary. That said, Dark/Dark synergises very well and they can turn a raging AV into a fluffy widdle bunnykins.
I always thought that Dark was a bit of a weak set until I played it but with only a few attacks you can reduce your foes chances of hitting you to almost nothing. Absolute joy. -

Just keep it secret from the rest of Primal, they're getting greedy these days...!On other matters:
The Banshee Alone
Having caught word of the Red Caps attempts to draw Salamanca through into the Netherworld, The Amber Banshee drew together the forces of the Militia to defend the town. An assembled force of The Portent, Masked Angel, Speedie, Arrow Flame, Shydow Flysh, Seph Reet, Lady Patriot and Em-Pulse took a stand against the Caps, defending the towns mystic centre as a ritual took place to secure it in this reality. What followed was a massacre, the Militia suffering severe casualties in their attempts to defend the populace. Tempers were frayed as they fought, Amber losing hers several times, causing her to switch briefly into her Fey form. But before the last defenders fell, the ritual ended, locking the town back into place. However, as the bruised and battered heroes gathered themselves together, the Red Caps were able to gain one last victory.
Stressed from pressures at university, a failed relationship, her recent changes and unused to the pressures of leadership, the Amber Banshee finally broke. Fleeing the team, she ran to Talos Island where she sat outside of her apartment and let her misery consume her. Several team members attempted to contact her and encourage her to come back to the base but even the offer of Slixs home-made cookies couldnt persuade her. She eventually disconnected the comms unit and fled to a distant island that she had discovered after Coile and Nightsparrows wedding. As the sun set, she lay on the beach and fell asleep, the broken shell of what was once a bright young girl. -
Hmmm, Saturday is tricky for me. I'll do what I can but it's unlikely. An evening in the week would probably work out better for Amber.

Lady Silverwing notes the new arrival with interest. Then she returns to the pile of papers and photographs scattered over her desk, researching her next mark.
((Welcome to CoX and the Rogue Isles, hope to see you around some time.))

Last night was a busy night in the Rogue Isles. The rough collection of former Crey test subjects that make up the group known as Primal met for further assignments. Having acquired a lucrative task for the team, Lady Silverwing , Brangus , It and Aufeis took it upon themselves to eliminate a large gathering of the Legacy Chain and permanently retire their leader. Knowing that Aufeis innocence must soon break, the group conspired to make sure that she was left to make the killing blow. Feigning weakness in front of the enemy, Aufeis duly delivered the fatal stroke, killing their victim outright. It was a beautiful moment in the eyes of the team, watching one of their kind finally embrace the way of the assassin. She was upset and confused and remained quiet for the rest of the journey.
After dismembering an opportunistic group of Coralax and debating whether they could be sold as fish meat, Aufeis and Lady Silverwing went to Pocket D, mainly for Aufeis sake as she clearly needed a stiff drink after her first kill. The pair lingered in the bar near some gathered heroes, Silverwing showing an unusually kind streak in counselling the poor girl after the event and recalling her first kill those many moons ago.
The mood was broken though by the arrival of the android TRACOR 005 who had caused much injury to the ranks of the Militia supergroup a month ago. Vigilante Storm faced off with the menace, causing the temperature in the club to drop several degrees under extreme weather conditions. Realising that the dampening field in the club prevented them from furthering any sort of confrontations, the machine propositioned those villains present with a lucrative opportunity. Making sure that Aufeis had now left so she didnt hear the grisly details of contract negotiation, Silverwing spoke with TRACOR. The machine stated that his employer was keen to see several members of the Militia taken down or otherwise inconvenienced while he carried out his plot. Relishing such an opportunity, Silverwing negotiated a price and said that she would raise the issue with her brethren in Primal. Quite content with the evening, she was ready to retire when the small creature named Zorbak mentioned the contract in front of one of the Militias more prominent members. Realising that they may not have a heads up on the operation, Silverwing beat a hasty retreat to consider further strategy and gather intelligence. -
I have both a Necro/Dark and Thugs/Dark and can say that Thugs easily wins. The zombies are too squishy and too suicidal to withstand much and have a tendency to aggro everything in the room. Thugs stand together which makes healing them up so much easier. (I am of course, ignoring the suicidal arsonist here.)

Yes, you were correct, I was typing that up at college without my logs handy, and alt-tabbing to type up notes on Behavioural Psychology Key Concepts. Sorry!

But, dare I ask, were you doing it with your toes? -
Yes, that's pretty much what happened.
I suddenly felt that I was going to be expelled from Stalker school for rushing in there like a Scrapper as we all got collectively spanked by a dozen angry trolls. Still, gotta laugh and how we did.
Great fun, even though there weren't that many of us. I will definitely be around next Monday if that's when we want to meet again. If we want to meet over the weekend though, that would be cool too. Any ideas? -
So Monday at 7:30 it is then. Regulars and newcomers alike. I look forward to seeing you there.
-
Sure, that's good for me. I was wondering if we were still going.

Last night on patrol
When The Amber Banshee arrived at Militia Headquarters in Founders Falls, chaos seemed to have come to town. From what she could gather, the errant hero Dragonfly had had another arrest warrant issued against her and had gone on the run. Recent Militia recruit Gash Jackal , a mechanised police unit had attempted to detain Dragonfly only for her fellow team-mates to step in, enabling her to escape. The machine was swift to reprimand the rest of the team for allowing a wanted fugitive to get away. Amber secretly agreed with Jackal but kept quiet, her last conversation with Dragonfly having been quite hurtful. Merde explained that the Militia was once again being investigated and that all members would be required to report to Hero Corps with their licenses for questioning. The subject of licenses raised a few concerns amongst the assembled team, some admitting to not owning one.
Following the meeting, the assembled Militia went on patrol. After a difficult but successful intervention in Croatoa, Amber went to Pocket D to relax. It was notable that there was a large number of villains present which left her slightly on edge. She spoke briefly to Gauisus Somnium , who was in good spirits and helped to cheer her up some. She intended to speak to Lady Patriot who appeared to have something on her mind but instead was grabbed by Cosmic Silver who was keen to know whether Amber would be interested in knowing where Dragonfly was hiding. Facing a crisis of conscience of whether she should defend her team-mate or betray her, Amber decided that it was best not to know at which point Cosmic departed. Feeling somewhat torn between her loyalties, Amber left, still not sure what to do about the situation. -
I agree, on the whole Siren's Song is next to useless in a large group unless they know what you're doing. One large AoE renders it pointless. I have it but I only tend to use it when soloing which you've said you don't do too often.
If you're in teams, then Screech is the one to pick. You can take out the mezzer before he even gets a chance to attack you or your friends. I've found it doesn't tend to stun bosses though, only minions and lieutenants. Slot it with an accuracy or two and two to three disorient durations and you're golden.
Good luck. -
Thanks for the information everyone, much appreciated.

I'd love KB on sonic blasts, but I guess then all the energy blasters would get annoyed.
If you don't like it, do try the sonic blaster, lots of fun. -
Yes, they can be a bit Tsoo much sometimes....

Hi folks.
Im looking at my planned respec of my Dark/Elec Defender and I intend to include the two holds which I have access to, Petrifying Gaze and Tesla Cage. Now Im not used to magnitude stacking as Ive never tried playing a Controller so perhaps someone would be kind enough to tell me how effective Defender holds are and whether they will stack in the same way.
I seem to remember reading that PG is a Mag 3 hold but Im not sure on Tesla Cage. As its in my Secondary, I wondered whether its power would be less effective. Would stacking the pair hold a boss or are they two separate effects? Ill probably try the build out on test before going live but I thought Id ask here whether anyone has any experience of them in action.
Thanks. -
Well it was a hard fought battle which took longer than expected but we did it. I'd like to thank everyone that attended for your hard work and perseverance, it was much appreciated by all.

The Amber Banshee of the Militia will be there at 11, reporting for active duty.
