Some Sonic power advice please.

Just got my first Blaster , Sonic/Ice to 24 over the xp weekend. As the Ice Powers with the exception of Ice Patch and CE are not up to much i've mainly gone for my Sonic primaries.

I've also got Hasten , Fitness pool with Stamina and CJ and SJ as my travel power.

My next power choice at 26 is either going to be Sirens Call (i think it's called) or Screech ? I mainly team in large teams with this toon and don't solo a lot and don't PvP at all.

Any words of advice appreciated. Really enjoying the Sonic experience in fact so much so i might make a Sonic Defender next

I think you mean sirens song?

Sirens Song probably won't be *that* useful to you in large teams simply because it's a group sleep (with a fairly long animation time). Screech, however, is fab, and does a very nice (single target) disorient.

I'd try and grab build up from your ice secondary as well if you haven't taken it already...

And on my winning streak i think you will find sirens song is a cone =]

Cheers Psygon. I forgot to add i took Build up as my lvl 24 power , couldn't decide between that or Amplify.

My bad with Sirens Call not sure why that popped in my head and Screech it will be with maybe Amplify and 28?

Yeah, you definitly want Amplify before you get to 32 and the amazing fun of Dreadful Wail. Then you can slot 3 x Dam and 3 x Recharge and not worry about the accuracy

(and yeah Sirens Song is a cone.. which is a bit like a group ahem).

Think in Ice you get shiver at 28 which is a reasonable cone slow... nice for firing at a group that's been gathered round a tank. Maybe one to try and see what you think anyway

I agree, on the whole Siren's Song is next to useless in a large group unless they know what you're doing. One large AoE renders it pointless. I have it but I only tend to use it when soloing which you've said you don't do too often.

If you're in teams, then Screech is the one to pick. You can take out the mezzer before he even gets a chance to attack you or your friends. I've found it doesn't tend to stun bosses though, only minions and lieutenants. Slot it with an accuracy or two and two to three disorient durations and you're golden.

Good luck.

Even if the team knows what you are doing with Siren´s Song it is next to useless. You just don´t team with people and tell them they shouldn´t use their highest dps powers just because you want to use your AoE sleep.
So, it is only good for holding up enemy reinforcements while you are still busy fighting. If you really need this power your team is definitely misssing some aggro control.
Screech on the other hand is very nice solo and in teams. A sleeping mezzer will wake up as soon as you attack and he will then proceed to mezz and kill you, but a stunned mezzer ist just a target for some practice shooting.

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

I think the only other use for Siren's Song apart from a soloing damage mitigation tool is in PvP.
Forcefield, Traps and Sonic anti-mez bubbles have a gap in their protection: sleep attacks get through.

Can't see it being useful in big groups when everyone's Clear Minded/Claritied though.

Sirens Song has made soloing my blaster childs play.

Like any other solo freindly power, it has the stench of manure about it when it comes to teams. AoE sleeps do have their uses when things start to fall apart a bit, or when a second mob comes wandering along. In these situations, they can actually be golden. Sirens has a fairly lonfg duration too. I have it slotted 2xacc, 1 x sleep, which does the trick for me - after all on the occassions when you NEED it, you NEED it to hit!.

As for the rest of the sonic set. All good. Bit lacking in AoE damage, which is a shame, and makes it a more solo freindly blaster (which is why I took /fire secondary! ).

Shockwave is the standout *ahem* power. Mediocre damage at best, and Knockback... Yeah, teams love knockback...
