Quote:I sincerely doubt that. Unless the BBC are happy to end their franchise there. The twist is, it won't be any of those.
Oh, and the spaceship - wasn't it the same as the one in The Lodger?
Either way, somehow there'll be a way out of it hence why it didn't shock me in any way.
And yes, the spaceship was the one from The Lodger, the one the Doctor believed was someone trying to make a TARDIS. Nice to see that come back. -
Hello everyone.
In all of the feedback over i20, theres one thing that I have noticed that doesnt seem to have been mentioned, namely how often were now getting intrusive combat spam while fighting. Regardless of how you may feel about i20 (IMHO, D-, must try harder) the new Trials and TFs seem to have cluttered up the UI even more so than the garish Classic (but not classic) Team and League windows.
I ran the Admiral Sutter TF for the first time last night and although lots of fun, the amount of text were getting thrown during events is starting to feel a little tedious. The first time I faced down a Warwalker in the Apex TF and saw the ominous red text: WARWALKER IS POWERING UP ITS ORBITAL LANCE, it was impressive. Once I worked out the trick to avoiding it, it became annoying. On the Sutter TF, encountering a spawn of Warwalkers where they all fire at the same time filled up my screen with red text, causing me to fly into another spawn trying to avoid them.
The iTrials are even worse. Not only do we have the Events panel floating in our UI, theres also the unexplained Blue Box of Exposition that splats down over the screen from time to time. Add to this the frankly annoying text of: MARAUDER IS ENRAGED, USE A GRENDADE! and its not just Praetor White thats ready to take peoples heads off. (Seriously, Im expecting the next Trials to flash luminous green text on and off declaring: ANTIMATTER LOOKED AT YOU FUNNY, HIT HIM IN THE FACE!!!)
So, two questions really: firstly, is there a way to minimise or stop these visual intrusions and secondly, does anyone else feel slightly condescended to by the vibrant warnings? I certainly never saw anything like them when Lord Recluse summoned his Bane Spiders or when Reichsman called down a thunder blast that could knock me out of Granite. Is it just me or is the combat spam starting to grate on your nerves too?
(For what its worth, I play on a 22 Widescreen monitor and have my window scale at 85% so its not like I have a normally cluttered UI. The extra guidance just seems unnecessarily intrusive and annoying.) -
A pretty good start to the new season although I was very disappointed at the 'surprise' within the first 15 minutes. It felt cheap and will so obviously be averted/explained/ignored/retconned that it didn't scare me in the slightest. It just felt like a poor attempt to shock the audience.
Other than that, pretty solid and I love the new... um... the... things, with the lighting... ah.... what was I talking about again? -
Quote:This pretty much sums up my desires too. I'm glad that there is some endgame content even if (to my eyes) it seems like dev endorsed farming. And I have no problem with them developing such content as long as it isn't at the cost of all the other things I love about the game. And that includes such things as free costume options, customisation and story arcs that aren't about the Well of Awful Plots.I am very happy with i20, but I would prefer for the next issue not to advance the incarnate system except in giving us solo and team-sized options for unlocking said content without significant penalties (and additional 8+ raids if possible). Additionally, mid level content, powersets/proliferation, plus more power customization.
Really, I would be happy for the next several issues to be along this line. I have plenty of work ahead of me, and I am happy to put the time in, but I want to feel like i can take a step back and play my non 50s without feeling like my mains are getting left behind.
I expect we will get an announcement around the anniversary, detailing the direction of development over the coming months. That said, it would be reassuring for the devs to pop in and say that solo and small team incarnate advancement is on the way. If it isn't coming in the near future, the devs should seriously reconsider this. I don't care if incarnate content is supposed to be reserved for the big story, players should have reasonable access to the system (much more reasonable than the current implementation, even for the alpha slot) regardless of their level 50+ playstyle. -
I very rarely set foot in PD these days as most of my characters aren't bar type people. I prefer it out in the world or while running missions. Still, everyone has their own style, all equally valid.

Quote:Given that it should be Vanguard co-ordinating these attacks in the first place, why not just open up the huge garage in the Vanguard base and hand everyone a free teleporter to it? Or make it part of the soon to be issued Vanguard pack or purchaseable with Vanguard merits. We soo need a new war zone, just for these trials and future events, like another vanguard base..just a base nothing more
Makes more sense than launching our offensive from a nightclub. -

Quote:I think you mean the game? They're as close to "Dante's Inferno" style demons in the game. I wish we had more.
The demons described in the Divine Comedy definitely don't remind me of Hordlings. I still find it amusing that some of the ones in Inferno are described as holding pitchforks.
Also, I love them too. We need far more 'inhuman' shaped foes. -
And I'm in!
Awesome stuff tech guys, thanks for the rapid response! -
You too huh?
Same here. I've repatched, verified and I'm about to restart old Bessie to see if that clears the issue up.
*Sigh* -
Quote:That's how I read it too. But I do think the Producer's letter has muddied the water a little and made things unclear. Some clarification from the powers that be would be much appreciated. The producer's letter is talking about accounts, NOT global names. Reasons for less EU/NA account conflicts is that the most likely cause of duplicate account names is a EU player having the same account name on both the NA and EU servers.
As it stands, I don't think anyones' bothered about their account name being changed (are they? Really?), it's the global rename that has folks concerned. -

No, you're not. I know they're just flavour text to get you in the mood for what the Shadow Shard can be like but they take a few too many liberties with my characters for me to regard them as anything like canon. I grab them on my badger then move on.

Quote:I'll be looking for that later then. As Golden_Avariel says, your best just isn't enough and my fire blaster who completed that arc the other day will be looking for redemption/payback.I wrote an AE Arc called "The Terra Cure" where you're involved in trying to come up with a cure for Terra. I enjoyed it because I used some of the bosses you encountered in earlier DE missions ... and gave them some special dialogue.
I think it works because it focuses on the victim so much. We rescue citizens from danger every day but very rarely do we get 'close' to them. We need more arcs like this. -
Quote:That bit said 'EU Accounts' so I assumed it meant the Account Log In name, the changes to which bug me not one jot. It's the globals I'm most concerned about.Hold it Dante... re-read this section (bold part by me)...
However, between those two bits, this letter could look confusing. I agree we need some redname confirmation of what the current plan is. I would expect an update on the thread already discussing it. (Or at least, I'd hope there would be.) -
Blackadder : Have you ever been to Praetoria Baldrick?
Baldrick : No, but I've often thought I'd like to.
Blackadder : Well don't, it's a ghastly place. Huge gangs of red skinned, sinewy men roam the streets terrorising people with their close-harmony singing. -
Deleted as the post is now irrelevant. Damn, this thread is moving fast...
I guess this is what we do when the game's down. Forum Wars! -
Quote:That his voice sounds like Mr T in my head?Scirocco's second patron arc kinda serves a similar purpose, in that it provides some character development, although of course you can't do it until after you've picked him as a patron. Mako needs one badly. Black Scorpion is...dumb and paranoid. What more do we really need to know about him?
No, I agree. I'd love to see more things with the patrons. Scirroco's is the only one I haven't done yet but I will be as soon as I get my next toon red side. I hear good things about it. -
Quote:Hold on one Incarnate-shard pickin' moment- Global Names were going to have characters dropped off of them, but this letter says that they're now going to be prepended with EU, same as the account names (since noone really cares what happens to those)?
Is this the case, or am I misreading things?Quote:At the same time, a more widespread solution such as pre-pending every European players global name, even if there was no collision, may have been clearer, but was too intrusive. -
Quote:I just finished that one again the other day after having not played it in ages. It is 'old style' i.e. no fancy mechanics but the poor girl's terror once you discover her going green only served to make me more angry when I had to take her down. Only Hamidon could do such a thing to the woman he loved. It's one of the reasons why he's still one of, if not my favourite villain in game.I don't know about in-game writing, but the story arc that has stuck with me the most is the Terra Conspiracy from Ginger Yates in Founders. At the finish of the arc I always feel so sad for what happens, and it really makes me hate Hamidon.
Also, gotta agree, Silver Mantis is awesome to fight and I love, love, love Seer Marino's arc. I kinda wish every patron got an arc like it because when it comes to picking a patron later on in game, I head straight for Ghost Widow almost every single time purely for that insight into her background. *Starts rummaging around for a level 15 villain...* -
I'm not too thrilled about losing my global either but as long as it's done fairly and affects all players, not just the EU, I'm okay with it.

My favourite AT are Blasters. Theres just something a little bit insane about having awesome firepower that generates aggro like nobodys business coupled with have pitiful defences that appeals to me. As such, Ive rolled loads of them and I love throwing them into insane situations to see whether they survive.
As such, soloing the old (and IMHO superior) Maria Jenkins arc with my Sonic/En was a challenge, earning my Dimensional Warder badge with no outside assistance.
However, the EB fight I anticipated most was on an old AR/En Blaster I rolled up years ago. Anathema was a victim of Dr Vahzilok and survived by replacing her missing parts with cybernetics. So when I got to the end of the Vahzilok Plague arc, I was very much anticipating the showdown with the doc himself. It may not sound that epic but trying to take on a large sewer map filled with zombies on a squishy ranged Blaster running on DOs it was pretty nail biting. Dr Vahz himself wasnt too hard, but thinning the room down without him noticing was a meticulous task and made facing him without having to deal with his undead hordes a lot more satisfying. -
Interesting… Anyone else notice how many requests there are for revamps and updates of old content? Devs please take note.
As for three things I’d change, I’ll do my best to be constructive.
1) Completely disconnect the Incarnate System from the Praetorian storyline so that people can choose their own way to become an Incarnate. This includes hitting the Lore slot with a big hammer (many times) until it becomes something that fits better with character concepts.
2) Dedicate a team to revisit some of the zones and storylines that players have been wishing to see developed for a long time. Some zones have been in need of a remake for years and there are many storylines left hanging that could do with a decent ending to them. If they could be satisfactorily tied up such as in the same way that we take down Frostfire or Dr Vahzilok, that would be awesome. If we could refrain from simply retconning them all so that ‘the Well did it’, that would be much appreciated. Not all plots lead to that horrible little Puddle of Godmodding.
3) New Invention sets. Have we had any new ones since BotZ? Fixing up toons with inventions is almost a mini-game in itself and helps to bend ATs and characters to be what we want them to be. The fact that we have only three Targetted AoE sets (outside of PvP and Purples) when we’ve got goodness knows how many for snipes seems bizarre to me.
I have more but most of them have already been posted by people who have asked for them far more eloquently than I could. Thank you. -
Quote:Okay. Well if I misunderstood, I apologise. I was only expressing my frustration in the first place anyway. It's typical of my luck that the time I book of coincides precisely with the downtime. He wasn't rude. About 99.99997% sure that was a joke. And if you read it as rude, that isn't his fault.
Oh well, garden could do with a trim I guess.
