Mine said the same. Which is ironic when you consider that EU players STILL don't get a questionnaire to state why they're leaving. So they wouldn't have a clue as to why I cancelled those accounts.

So I reckon it's just a standard email they're sending to all expired accounts.

I got a couple of them too. All I can figure is that the relate to my retired second account and my expired NA account.
  3. You're right, it is a minor complaint at best and I totally undertand that they can't cover ever base or reveal too much up front. I just wish there'd been more foreshadowing in GR.

I'd be grumbling less if I hadn't just run a magic character through Praetoria.

Also magic PLAYER CHARACTERS aren't treated in any way. What is done to and between NPCs should really have no bearing on your rp.
But if you're trying to create characters that are consistent with the game world, then knowing that a certain origin is frowned on by the powers that be is useful to know. Let's say I roll a Mutant origin character who is a successful Powers Division recruit. The people love him and he's popular with the Praetors. Then a year later, some information comes out that states that 'mutants are regarded with fear and suspicion in Praetoria'. Suddenly the story for the character and the game world are inconsistent. It's the equivalent of pulling the rug out from underneath you after a year of being compatible with the game world.

I find it irritating because we had a number of threads after GR came out asking 'where's all the magic in Praetoria?' Player speculation aside, there's been nothing in the story arcs or in the GR background information that would suggest that something was causing magic to work differently in Praetoria (aside from the 'Whispered Rumour' tip already mentioned). Clearly they had a plan for the magic side of that world to be introduced later in First Ward but nothing other than its absence from what was in GR indicated that anything was up with that origin. Just a hint or something from a contact that stated that magic was treated differently would have given us something to go on. One NPC having his magic power broken does not equate to 'Emperor Cole controls the magic in Praetoria'.

    Ho hum.

    Interesting... very interesting...

    Thanks for the find.

Yep, forgot to say this earlier. I can't get to these chats so the write up is exceedingly helpful. Many thanks!

I also like the new villain contacts, Dean MacArthur, Leonard, and Vincent Ross where you're largely working under your own initiative. There's a few other contacts that have elements of this such as Willy Wheeler's last mission, parts of Tavish Bell's Vigilante Justice arc, and Diviner Maros (who's pretty much "someone is plotting to kill you, let me help you kill them first").
And tips. Tips are great for real villains. There may be no 'master plan' as such but the sheer joy of going and ruining someone's day because you can is very rewarding.

Of course. It's the timing that bugs me though. If one origin was treated differently to the others, then it would have been handy to know that beforehand. And as I've said, I can't see anything that indicated that at GR launch.

I'm all for fleshing out story but this seems a bit of an oversight.

Everything is better with some Themari. Or Phipps. Missions that actually make you feel like a villain.

But do we? I know there was a lot of speculation about what happened to all the magic in Praetoria but I don't remember seeing anything that stated magic was 'suppressed' in some way. I'm being genuine, I think I've read all there is to read about Praetoria and I can't find anything that says magic was treated differently to the other origins.

The only tiny indication I can think of were some of the comments made by the CoT in the Halloween tip mission.

    Not seeing the issue here.
But not their origin. If magic users are treated in a particular way, it'd be nice to know. Just like people rolling psychic characters wondered if they were going to be carted off to work with Mother.

    Found it again.

I know a lot of folks don't like dictated costume things (me either, mostly), but I'd settle for some happy medium for either a Rikti or DE epic AT.

The crab spider arms work pretty well with all sorts of otherwise mostly customized costumes, I'd be fine with a setup like that.
AWESOME FIND! I'd forgotten about this suggestion.

Yep, would play that in a heartbeat.

You know, without wanting to sound too negative, but did it ever occur to the Devs to actually tell us this when Going Rogue was released?

We had loads of conversations about where all the magic was in Praetoria and for almost a year we've been rolling magic characters in Praetoria with no indication of how it was treated there. This kind of information is useful when writing character bios and thinking up RP plots. Revealing it this late is a bit... frustrating to be honest.

I always thought that the Ghouls were sort of an accidental plague started by one overzealous scientist trying to outdo Neuron which then raged out of control.

(Stung by Praetoria once. Not getting fooled again. )

Yep, going Commando in the UK means without underwear, a popular choice on laundry day.

However, in my house, any mention of the term is generally met by hundreds of quotes from the greatest action movie ever, normally all done in poor Austrian accents.

Given the restrictions on free players (and to some extent, Premium), I am wondering if there was some kind of initiative we could do to involve trial/free RPers into our RP worlds? Not that I've thought of anything so far, it's just something rolling around in my head at the moment.

I'll happily concede that point. Compared to other games and their raids, ours are a walk in the park. However, I still think it's a mistake to say, 'Hey, other games have a raid based endgame, let's do that!' and not try to cater to the playstyles this game supports.

I do feel the situation is temporary though. Despite what someone suggested earlier, I believe that constructive feedback on the forums is useful and I doubt that the multiple threads on this subject have gone unnoticed. The Incarnate system is a work in progress and so I can do my best to be patient with it however I will say that level 50 TFs have now become boring due to the powers being useable in them. And that is a shame.

If I have a concern, it is that the few times we've heard anything official (Devs or Community Team) about solo/small team Incarnate content, it's always sounded to me as if they were somewhat surprised that we would want something like that. This concerns me as it makes me wonder just how well they know their playerbase and the strengths of the game the Incarnate system is being added to. Also, as it obviously wasn't there when they started developing the system, it worries me that it will be some hastily cobbled together mish mash of poorly designed missions that make no sense.

So is limiting your flagship endgame to one exclusive playstyle when the game it's tacked on to is famous for its casual, pick up and play nature. They tried to limit this by creating the team up teleporter but that seems to have failed as a solution.

They can't cater for everyone, that's true, but focusing on just one playstyle seems terribly shortsighted to me.
