Just added this patch note to PvP section:

    * This means that you can no longer “escape debt” by being defeated by a PC after taking massive damage from NPCs, nor will you be penalized with a massive amount of debt if you are defeated by an NPC after taking a huge amount of damage from a PC.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know what you people are using to profile this, but I have never seen a person impale themselves on a PC to "escape" debt.

I've seen people train mobs onto someone to "cause" debt, but never the other way around.
  2. I had one of those moments of clarity on the drive home from work today. So I decided to post it in the suggestions forum.

I do not like the this change to Hamidon (firing while held). It is wrong. It breaks your own rules and sets precedence (the SWG kind) that does not reflect well on the game or its stewards.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
    Added to the patch notes:

The Hamidon has been increased in difficulty. It is now capable of using one of its attack powers even when Held, Slept, or Stunned.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guarantee you that some of the idiots on Victory are going to grief raids. The Giant Monster changes were eventually going to cause some problem (not too difficult to contain). But the firing while held change will guarantee that raids will fail. Not because the change made the encounter dynamic, but because some low-life gets a thrill out of ruining the gameplay experience of dozens of others.

Just to give you an example: A couple months ago, one of our vociferous "griefers" went out of his way to wait for a scheduled raid to form just so he could (1) verbally berrate the organizers & (2) get a HO too boot. Now, this guy waited in the Hive for three hours after the scheduled time (partial miscommunication & people forgetting the time while trying out I7 on Test) just to do this (and the raid took 1.5 hours, so 4.5 hours total).

We have also had griefers of the traditional sort (pulling monsters) and those that pull Hamidon fire into the Bubble.

This change make raiding a bit more complicated (not really all that much more difficult though), but makes the possibility of griefing much more likely. Thanks.

Evidently Hammy got a laser beam on it's head a long time ago but just now figured out how to use it.

    Ok, pull it over.
Consistency Police. I'm sorry miss, I am going to have to give you a ticket for incorrectly referencing Hamidon as an it instead of a he.
    Carry on.

    So - here it is.

    Added to the patch notes:

The Hamidon has been increased in difficulty. It is now capable of using one of its attack powers even when Held, Slept, or Stunned.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can this please be reconsidered? The potential for griefing a Hami raid has just dramatically increased with this change. Before, if hami was held, the hold team knew that they were relatively safe, even if the hold was dropped for a second. Now that is no longer the case. Any character with a taunt power can now grief the raid at any point. Even after Hami is held and being killed. And if a griefer does this when Hami is below half health it will cause a mito spawn and therefore a failed raid. I have personally witnessed griefers attempt to draw Hamidon aggro onto the hold team many times in the past. The attempt would fail because Hami did not attack while held.

In fact, now that I think of it, even a well-meaning tank who is just trying to get their hit in so they get a Hami-O could fail the raid if they attack during the hold phase. Again, please reconsider this change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Cryptic KR3W need to consider a couple other factors for PuG (server-wide) raids. Large scale raids (100-150 people) tend to turn off powers that can cause lag (auras, heal spam, dispersion bubble, also capes) when you reach a hold phase. Typically you have lots of people tightly packed, firing powers. This is all done to reduce server/client lag to prevent Hamidon from escaping the hold.

If you brainiacs want to hold a free-for-all Hamidon raid, I'd be glad to show up & spam my powers & show you the meaning of lag. In fact, I could bring my tank & simulate some good griefing action.

It's not an official Issue release until a missing patch note has been confirmed.

Also, trying to add challenge by breaking the rules of the game (attacking while held) is not a good path to walk down.

My outlook on the game's future is a bit more reserved now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agreed.
I'm enjoying WoW more & more lately.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
That's great if your system will render him.

Making us depend on something the engine cannot reliably support is not acceptable IMO. And my system is way, way, way beyond the recommended specs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Run in Safe Mode.
Or don't be responsible for calling out when Hamidon has been successfully held.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
None of this is meant as an excuse. We have a lot of bugs, and as many get introduced each new patch as get fixed. So long as new content is being added, that will likely remain the case (although, since we have had a QA dept. here at Cryptic for the last 10 months or so, things are improving in that regard.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the part that scares me. I hope you (Cryptic) have had testing coverage throughout the release cycles. I'm going to assume that you guys outsourced testing or something (or had test off-site).
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I hate to burst everyone's bubble here - but I7 is not going up before the end of May. We have a few more things left to fix/tweak.

    [/ QUOTE ]

7+ months between content updates is a bit frustrating. As it stands right now, I log on twice a week for Hamidon raids & that's it. I do not regret jumping ship & playing WoW for the last month or so.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I understand that and agree that a bugged i7 is not good, but ya'll need got get your stuff together we had i7 coming soon on the log on screen for 2 months, Posi said that it would be out by the end od the month ( if i remember right), ppl are already leaving the came for lack of content (add another 1 to that list) I'm in the navy and i had to take leave so i took in now in the hopes of getting a few weeks of live i7 my leave ends june 13th and now it looks like i won't get any..... I don't understand programing nor so i pretend to but this is getting out of hand. I know I'll get alot of flack from ppl on this post becaue alot of the ppl on the forums are willing to wait as long as they have to but i'm a guy on a time line i have to go back to Sea IE a big grey boat with no computers to play any games in a few months but this is my opnion and thats that.

For some unknown reason, I fail to believe you are in any branch of the military. If so, your superior officer(s) should lay the smack down on you for a "sentence" like that. Go back to school junior.
  11. I wonder how useful it would be if someone wrote up a complete guide & posted it outside of the forums. For the most part, people who frequent the forums will be able to figure out raid strategies. The real problem is educating the people who play the game & never see the forums.

The site still needs a couple tweaks, but it is functional.
  12. Hey, maybe we should get this stickied & unsticky the "Let everyone know where you live" post...

    Two things...

Also, how do powers (dull pain, cold domination, etc) that affect your Max hit points function in this one-percent code? Do they modify the baseline for what is considered your max hp? Do accolades modify the "max" or just give you a separate reserve of hit points?

Edit: brain no work good at moment.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    We need a little clarification.
Let's say that PlayerA has 1000 hit points.

1.) If PlayerA gets hit by PlayerB for 1001 points of damage, PlayerA will end up with 10 hit points and still be alive, right?

2.) If PlayerA gets hit by the Psychic Clockwork King for 2600 points of damage, PlayerA will end up with 10 hit points and still be alive, right?

3.) If PlayerA is damaged & has 800 hit points left, then something (PlayerB or a mob) does 1001 points of damage, will the player be at 10 hit points & still be alive?

4.) If PlayerA is damaged & has 800 hit points left, then something (PlayerB or a mob) does 801 points of damage, will the player be at 10 hit points?

5.) If PlayerA is in a damage field (multiple Caltrops for example) and something does 1000 points of damage, will it even waste the time to do the calculation? Having 10 hit points in a persistant damage field is meaningless.

6.) Does this mean that people will survive exploding buildings in Steel Canyon?

7.) Also, will this niffty new one-shot code introduce lag?

8.) What is being done to compensate (if anything) the Stalkers that could one-shot? How about the Brutes that can one-shot?

In my opinion, the one-shot code should apply to pve only (unless someone can come up with a good reason to have it impact pvp).

  21. Forming pick up groups in Pocket D is pretty frustrating. It's a lot like it was back when we didn't have global chat channels, or coalition chat or a Search mechanism. All you do is spam Broadcast/Request and send direct tells to those you can target. It's pretty stupid and a good waste of time.

Please find a way to enable Searches in the Pocket D zone (both factions or just your faction).

Please find a way to enable Searches in Bloody Bay & Siren's Call for your faction only.

Whirlwind has always done knock up, now it is doing knockback. I did not see any patch notes on this change. I do recall some discussion about the changes being made to the way knockdown works because of ragdoll physics but understand it was suppose to be reversed. Is this an unnoted patch change or a bug?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, the change was done purposefully. No, a patch note was not generated -- my fault, sorry! I simply forgot to note the change down.

Why? There was a PVE exploit involved with it, and this fix takes care of 90% of the issue.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can anyone comment on if Whirlwind functionality has changed in PvP?

Assuming the other 10% of the exploit is covered by a different set of circumstances, what was the exploit involving Whirlwind? (provided that answering doesn't let the cat out of the bag on the other 10%)

  25. As this change to Super Reflexes appears to be a compensation for the overall changes of I5 & ED, I have a question for you...

Out of curiosity, do you do anything for Defense or Resistance powers that are hit by a DeBuff?

Under the new regime, Inv tanks can expect roughly a 68% Smashing/Lethal resistance (no more than three enh in any one power). Now if I get hit by a Sonic power that reduces my resistance (by say 10%), the adjusted value will be something like 58%.

If I slot Unyielding, RPD & TI with four resist enhancements, my Sm/Le percentage skyrockets to something like 69%. The pre-ED percentage would have been something in the neighborhood of 76%. Again, what happens in the new ED regime when this build gets hit by a Sonic power (again 10% debuff)? Will it be a straight percentage cut >> 59% or will it factor in the extra enhancement slots as a pseudo-debuff dampening (i.e. 76% - 10% == 66% [capped at 69% or some such])?

Actually, I'd like to know if over slotting ANY power would provide any kind of dampening effect to debuf powers (damage debuff, -recharge, defense debuff, resistance debuff, health or endurence regen, etc).
