awesome!
now i just have to level a few characters so they can actually be of help. either that or hop back on the one 50 i have.
Edit: thanks! -
it may need to be tweaked a bit, Turbo.. but altogether it sounds do-able! granted.. i didn't go back and check if the points and pluses/negatives add up. but still.. seems reasonable.
side note: i'm sure Ultimus takes it all in good stride. -
of course, there is the "invisible" responses this thread has had..
such as, it was stickied, then unstickied.. then stickied again!
hmm.. i wonder how many times i can sign an idea..
/signed! for the umpteenth time. -
so incredibly sweet..
the site is now bookmarked.. someday i'll return to order a commission or two.. or more.. lol.
it seems the digital 3D format is best for characters with a lot of black in them.. which is good, since the first two i'm thinking of getting done someday both include a lot of black in their costumes/skin.
in any case.. incredible work! skips right past the inspiration to create my own stuff and on to buying stuff by other (much more talented) people. lol.. -
very cool, Ex Libris!
great move to make.. what with all the videos running around in different forums, it will be awesome to have one central forum for them! (which also means the "still art" (Screenshots & Fan Art) section won't have to double for video as well anymore)

that sounds like Pinnacle.. at any time.. of any day.
other than that though, great comics! a simple, yet effective, setup/idea.. not to mention funny! (i also am wishing i was involved with Virtue more (read: at all these days).. i used to be active there, but that was in 2004.. on a team that has long since disbanded (i'm the only one in it now).
anyhoo.. i'm looking forward to more ..adding to faves. -
i agree.. they do look great! very crisp and clean...
but, i still can't shake the feeling that i'm seeing the formation of an E-Surance SG. -
i'm sure that arm pose was a bummer to draw.. even with a live model to help.
regardless of that, the drawing came out awesome.. great concept, too. it would be cool to see it inked/colored though.. -
actually dismantel, not a bad idea.. sort of.
i wouldn't expect Ultimus to be hired, but an NPC based no his character? or has help creating the look of? sure.. i could see that for a contact you would go to for setting up your SigPow! -
well done.. and agreed with others, vector art is quite rare in these parts. this one has a cool feel to it as well.
(don't take this the wrong way, but.. will he be appearing in any E-surance commercials?)
-
funny that i should come to this thread to find a discussion focused on this one part of the article.. not about the future of games or new titles or anything else. (for the most part anyhoo)
granted.. it's the same thing i was coming here to talk about, but first...
congratulations to Chris Chung! have fun in the new role!! and i like the part about focusing on customer awareness/satisfaction!
but as far as a console port goes.. sure it would be cool, but the PS3? really? i understand it's technically better than the 360, but the online community/service is undoubtedly better on 360. granted, it may be because the Marvel MMO is supposed to be (maybe?) coming out for 360, so maybe a conflict of properties thing?
either way.. in order to have a console version, i would imagine there would have to be a whole new team to take care of that side of things. so, while we wouldn't see any negative impact.. it would be awhile before it would be feasible to do, i would think. -
me too!
predictions? (if it happens)
Ish 14? Ish 15? -
welcome Back!!! and welcome to 2008! (not that i'm the spokeperson for the year.. but baby New Year said to pass along the welcome
)
looking forward to the new era of Co*! -
those models look really cool.. i didn't think they were physical objects when looking at the gallery. of course, it could just be the lighting..
but i know of another that's been doing it for a while (for Mii, Second Life and Sketch Up) called Fabjectory. they don't look as crisp, but at least the "paint" couldn't be chipped.. talk about "baked textures"! (i know.. bad joke.. hehe)
anyhoo.. yes, of course it would rock to have a little statue of several of my characters! -

And thanks for clarifying for him, I was going to reply last night but I was so tired I figured I'd do it in the morning. Glad you got it first

sure thing.. this has got to be the one thread i keep my eye on the most, as it's such an awesome concept! -
not at all, FTmomo..
did you read the part about using only animations/powers/etc. that are already in-game? there's nothing new to create as far as moves/powers/etc. goes.. just an interface that let's you "glue" them together.
i know a lot of people in this thread have posted ideas for their own that didn't follow the "only animations that are available already" rule, but the expression doesn't define the description.
also, don't forget that there are about to be 2 to 3 times as many devs, so "not enough devs" will be alleviated soon enough.
the hard part isn't what you can use, it's making the interface to put it all together.. and yes, that would take some clever problem-solving as well as a good amount of time to program. but who says it can't be done piece-meal? as in.. while working on issues, have a couple devs start piecing it together in the background until it was finished.
if they were to do this, i wouldn't expect to see it until at least issue 14, 15 or even later.
my best guess is that power customization would be harder, since they would have to rebake each an d every texture.. or rather un-bake. and i'm suer that idea isn't going to lose popularity because it's hard to do.
in short, it's completely feasible.. just not very soon. -
Vayliss - a big difference is that this uses a point system towards one signature power, while "the other game" uses points in a tree that basically, yes, is very similar in what they are used to gain.. but it's towards the character in whole instead of the one specific use of one power.
so, in a way, it is a more advanced talent point system.. but it's a different creature altogether with a much different end goal. what that system uses talent points for, we use enhancements and power trees for.
of course, another difference is being able to create your SigPow from scratch. choose animations/effects/powers, then use points to flesh that power out.
i hope that answers the question -
awesome news (after awesome news, after...)
hey, hey.. the gang's all here..
welcome back, Manticore!!! -
i don't think it would really be a hindrance to see people posting ideas that simply won't happen.. mainly because the original idea (and finer permutations thereof) are quite clear that everything would use existing animations/effects/etc..
i agree though, that people seem to not have gotten the idea behind how these powers are created.. since they post things like "my fists glow red, then snakes burst out of my back and a rainbow explodes out my mouth" (an exaggeration, but you get the point)
and Aaron.. i'm hoping for the same thing! (who knows, maybe that's the coming announcement? then again.. maybe the coming announcement will be power customization.. or, what i have a sneaking suspcion about, is that it we may see comic books coming out again.. except centered on playe characters)
anyhoo.. still love this idea, Ultimus. now with NC² having 100% owneship and the dev team heading for double to triple their current numbers, we may actually see this as a more viable possibility. -
i wonder if the new weapons customization is a nod in the direction of SigPows for a future issue?
makes me a little more hopeful for the possibility of seeing this actually make into the game.. next year at the soonest. (maybe the last issue of next year?) -
i haven't forgotten
granted, i haven't started drawing yet either, but that's besides the point.. i'm a "last minute" type of person.
by the way, i think the other half of my "L vs L" is going to be Lunatik.. even though Lady Death sounded fun. -
just so you guys know..
Signature Powers do not include customizing colors, but it does include choosing effects from what's currently available.
also, i wouldn't expect color customization to happen.. ever. the devs have already explanied that it's just too much to have to go back and reprogram everything to allow for it. -
basically.. you want someone who does work similar to Simon Bisley, yes?
(Google the name, see Image Results) -
