    Mouse Skipping

Only things I can think of are don't use the mouse's own software or 3rd party software (let the Apple drivers work) and make sure CoH is set to a native display resolution for the Mac instead of scaling.

Depending on which model you have, Apple has a repair extension program for symptoms similar to those you describe, when it involves a defective video processor. Call Apple or visit an Apple Store genius bar for more info on that.

Otherwise Nalrok covered most of the rest, except for the possibility of bad RAM - did you upgrade it?

Property List Editor does indeed come with Xcode.
  4. I order parts from iFixit (google it - I don't want to post the full link or this thread might get deleted). Make sure you read the instructions and watch the video and you're ready and able to follow them before you order the part.
  5. I've been resisting trying to troubleshoot this because the stuff that makes up the Paragon Market is a tangled mess even on Windows, and twice so via Cider. Untangling it is no fun.

But in case we're missing something obvious here, what OSX version and Mac are you using, and which video chipset does it have? What kind of internet connection do you have?

Also try creating a new user on your Mac and running CoH from there, and see if you still have a problem. That should rule out preference issues or conflicts at least.
  6. One warning about the above instructions: If you have Vidiotmaps installed, part 2 of step 2 will delete it! Instead, open the data folder you unzipped, and copy the contents of it into the existing data folder in your coh folder.
  7. Ignore it. I saw it on a Windows PC last night.
  8. Unfortunately there is no way to default to windowed mode right now.
  9. It's most likely a glitch in that part of the map that causes the game client to crash. Did you contact Support?

The last time this happened, the glitch was made worse if you had Geometry Buffers turned on. See if turning that off works.
  10. Try throwing out the application preferences - use the Go menu from the Finder and type ~/Library/Preferences and then look for anything starting with "com.ncsoft". Throw them all out, and then launch the NCSoft Launcher.
  11. Good luck with the project. I hope you can manage to overcome Mono's limitations when working with other platforms (or so I heard).

If and when you decide on a native Mac version, PM me and I'll try to help. I work with iOS mostly, which is a little bit different from Mac, but the principles are similar enough that I might be able to help out a little.

I haven't seen U Dark update things yet though and if it would be possible for Diellan_ to provide a Mac version directly, or just the updates, it would make things simpler and easy to keep the Mac version up-to-date with the Windows version.
Oh I'm not expecting *that* much, just saying if they're going to do a rewrite anyhow they may as well ditch .net and make porting easier later on. More specifically, re-writing it from scratch in .net again would be kind of a waste. If they decide not to rewrite it, that's another matter. Nobody's really paying them for it, so whatever they choose to do with their time is up to them.
  13. Make sure the in-game screen resolution setting matches a native monitor setting on the Mac.
  14. If Mids is able to download and launch the updater by itself, it should be able to run completely within the wineskin container. I haven't tested this though, so I'm not completely sure.

If you're going to do a major rewrite, try to get rid of .NET entirely if you can. I know MS claims it helps with portability, but it's actually the complete opposite - most of the time, C-style code without .NET can be ported to other platforms somewhat easily, but with .NET porting is basically a rewrite anyhow (so it may as well be from the start).

And btw, I do know exactly how difficult that would be, I'm an iOS developer. It's a time investment for sure, but you may get that back in the form of decreased maintenance time later on. I do applaud you and all the previous Mids developers though because I myself lack the math skills to reverse-engineer a game like CoH, its thousands of enhancements and combinations of enhancements, toggles, and buffs, and design a completely accurate planner.
  15. I don't believe CoH supports any keyboard language but English, which is why you're having trouble typing those characters. You can switch that back and forth by going to the OSX Settings, and then Language & Text, and then Input Sources. That enables a menu on the menu bar which allows you to switch keyboard input languages on the fly via a little flag icon.

As for the NC Launcher, it looks like it's multi-lingual, and probably uses the system language setting (also on Language & Text, but the Language and Region tabs).

    Screen Recorder

I've used Snaps Pro X to take screen videos before (it's not free though). There's another one called Screenium but I haven't tested it.

One thing though, you can only record the screen when it's in windowed mode (Cmd-Enter).
  17. Did this only start after you upgraded the RAM?
  18. I've seen that exact error before - it's due to some character in a path to a file screwing something up.

What's the exact location of your City of Heroes app (not the Launcher)?
  19. It's all in the guide linked in my signature.
  20. If you create a new user and log in with it, do you still see the black box when running coh?

That was humor about the tone of GF's response, not a comment against it. As in marketing always tries to go for the "softer" response.

I'm not by far saying Paragon's system is unfair - because I've seen some REALLY unfair ones, especially in a certain Paramount franchise themed game. But they do ask periodically what would make it better, so I tell them what I believe will do that. It does not mean I'm ungrateful or demanding. Though I also wouldn't say no to anything that helps me afford more costume packs.

Obviously you're not in marketing, GF. :P

I would rather have maximum choice, personally. For VIP's I'd rather have more free Paragon Points per month, and lower priced or discounted server transfers, alignment changes, rename tokens, etc. Since *most* players are not using server transfers, alignment changes, and rename tokens *every month*, I believe the option to allocate those Paragon Points elsewhere is best.

As for why discounted items for VIP's, it's because with the current costs for those items, even if we get more points we would still often have to choose...do I transfer these two characters this month, OR do I buy the latest costume pack? I don't know the math involved with figuring out how much of a discount or how many additional points, but the point is to be able to use what you would now (transfers + costume pack), except also have the choice.

Don't do that. IT/Software/Game companies nowadays have pretty decent building security for a reason.
  24. Generic driver. All I had was a $15 3-button mouse with scroll, so that's all I needed.
  25. I think the Mac launcher's propaganda page is a different size from the Windows version. I don't know why they did it that way, but now they're stuck resizing an entire layout each publish.
