Starting today the City of Heroes and City of Villains character name policy will change.
Previously, names for characters under level 35 on game accounts that were inactive for over 90 days were changed to unreserved status. Data mining has determined that this policy is not needed on an ongoing basis and the program has been suspended. If we need to reenact this policy in the future to free up names then we will give all players 30 days notice before enacting the policy again. We thank all players for their continued support.
Any questions about this policy can be directed to cityofheroes@plaync.com -

The servers are coming up now one at a time. The test server may take a few extra minutes as they bring up the character transfer server and make a few extra adjustements.
-
Due to unforeseen complications with server maintenance this morning, the maintenance will be extended until at least 11 am CDT. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience as we maintain the servers.

Funny tidbit -
When we first got these on internal for testing the 5th were bugged.
Link to Screeny of what the 5th looked like before it was fixed:
Linky
I kind of liked them that way. Nothing more frightening than a pair of glowing eyes and shoulder pads in a dark alley. -

In a PM from Cuppajo she has asked me to try to get a situation where I can get the hijacked pet bug to happen 100% of the time. I will be doing some testing this weekend. If anyone on the Virtue server has a lowbie mastermind look for me this weekend My name will be Hara-Kiri Hokage. At least we might get this thing finally looked at. If you prefer to do some testing on your own please post your results in this thread.

Report from the Devs is that with everyone's help they got this fixed. No word on when it will make it to live however. -

Beyond that, we are looking to release another Issue building up the story towards our next retail box, due in 2007. This will include going back and revamping some of the zones from City of Heroes, using everything we've learned from making City of Villains and Issue 7, plus a bunch of other cool stuff including new powersets and an epic archetype. Of course for the retail box we will be creating all-new zones and content based on the results of the forum poll we posted last month. The retail box will be an expansion to both City of Heroes and City of Villains.
[/ QUOTE ]
One question, will the next retail box be an Stand-a-lone Expansion or an Expansion pack that one has to have either City of Heroes or City of Villains to use, or has that been determined as of yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
It will NOT be a stand alone. -

We are proud to introduce our newest community team member, Cricket.
Cricket was a Sr. Game Master for City of Heroes and City of Villains before joining us as an Associate Community Coordinator.
She will be your primary contact for board moderation issues and will also be helping me with community stuff around here such as making announcements, answering questions and poking people to restart the character transfer tool.
We anticipate her being a great asset to our team with her superior game knowledge and excellent customer service reputation. Please give her a warm welcome and maybe a nice avatar contest. -

IANAL but I think making a T-Shirt with your hero is ok under the acceptable usage clause of the EULA as long as you are not making money off of it (see the second and last paragraph in link). So making the t-shirt is OK, but selling it to someone is not.

Zazzle has their own lawers and issues - they see CoH content as ours and thus won't let you put character stuff up on it because then they would be profiting from our copyright - which is not allowed. -

An ABC reality TV show is looking for a family of gamers to participate in their show "Wife Swap."
While we are not sponsoring the show or affiliated with ABC - we know that many of you in the City of Heroes and City of Villains play with your family - so we thought we would pass along the chance to win 20,000$.
You can read about the details here. -
I know I don't post in here very often, but I thought I would share something that fits the topic - and to just let you guys know I do pop in here a lot to read, watch, and admire all the amazing talent we have in the community.
Here at NCsoft we share an office with Destination Games, the development house working on Tabula Rasa, and I often run into a concept artist who spends a large portion of his time drawing concept art for the game in a common area of our building. People will often walk by and gawk at some of the most amazing pencil drawings they have ever seen and chat with Brad as he casually fleshes them out. The thing I have heard him say over and over again is the same as some other people here have mentioned, "almost anyone can draw decently - if they are willing to work at it."
The problem for most of us is that we honestly don't want it bad enough to do the work needed to achieve it. Other things in life are more important to us than learning how to draw - so we do those things instead of drawing.
But boy, oh boy - are we impressed with those of you who DO draw. -
We are looking for a few good heroes... Or Villains!
Our PR department is working with a media source on a story about overseas military personnel who play City of Heroes or City of Villains as a way to keep in touch with their families or friends back home.
If you play City of Heroes or City of Villains with your friends or family back home, or you ARE a friend or family member of one of our men or women in uniform who plays City of Heroes or City of Villains to keep in touch while overseas - please send a PM to CuppaJo to be considered for the story.
You must include your real name, email address, phone number, a good time to contact you and a little information about how you keep in touch via City of Heroes or City of Villains!
/em Salute! -

I just sent a PM to cuppa asking if purposefully giving a player debt is considered griefing. Will update when she gets back to me

The Devs say - No. (Unless something is occurring over and over with the intention to harass, then it may be actioned.)
Ultimately PVE mobs in a PVP zones are hazards of a PVP zone. Players do have control (and options) that will prevent them from being victims of the TP Foe tactic.
Regarding being held, immobilized, slept and then being teleported into a PVE mob: griefing? No.
If a player uses TP Foe and teleports another player into a mob, so that their health is reduced, and then finishes them off with a killing shot .griefing? No.
If a player intentionally uses a knockback power (or Repel or Dispersion Bubble) on another player from the top of the roof to the street below where there happens to be a PVE mob, and the players presence draws mob aggro and dies should the player who knocked back the target player off that roof be actioned for griefing? No.
