Would rather of seen AS have to be a positional attack: ie You can only use it if you line yourself up behind the target.
Also if you Devs are keeping track I would like to bring out the number of Energy Melee Stalkers that are starting to increase. Every other Villain is an Energy Melee Stalker and near 8 out of 10 Villains are a Stalker. What the hell are you guys doing up there in your office?
Are you even noticing the fact that almost every Hero is either lvling a Hero to deal with Stalkers or that Heroes are having to bring in at least 2-3 peeps to deal with one Stalker?
What the hell were you smoking when you decided to give an AT the ability to be:
1) Undetecable unless the opponent is able to either stack 2+ perception powers, or has an autohit aura. And even in the case of autohit auras, stalkers will still get off the first attack, every time.
2) Able to one-shot many classes, and two shot anything but tanks.
3) Able to escape batlle with extreme ease in most circumstances. With their extreme stealth, they don't have to get very far from you for you to loose target on them completely.
4) They can use placate to make you unable to attack or even target them for a period. Basically single target phase shift that breaks after 10 seconds or when they choose to attack for a free critical hit.
5) Level 38 defense power that gives them extremly difficult to hit for 3 minutes.
6) SR and Ninja both have perception built in.
7) Mez protection.
8) EM stuns.
(Thank you Forum Troll for the list)
You made an entire AT that is game breaking and isn't fun to fight against. Do you even realise this? You think that by making it so that they can't one shot you that they won't follow up with a brawl like attack and finish you off?
I've fought with every Hero AT in this game, fought against every AT in this game, and there is only one right now that isn't fun to fight against. It's fun for Stalkers but it isn't fun for those who go up against them.
Be Uber make an Energy Melee Stalker. -
As of now I have went ahead and posted a warning for those making AT's on our website.
[ QUOTE ]
This isn't to bash Defenfenders, create an argument, etc.
As of this time if you are planning on making a Defender you would be better off making a Controller. You get more Damage, better Damage Mitigation, and in alot of situations your powers operate 25% better. Just a fair warning for those who are planning on creating a defender in this group.
[/ QUOTE ]
At least I can put up a warning with confidence. -
Think Blasters overall are fine compared to say Defenders. Hell Blasters in my books are now one of the better AT's in the game.
Worst AT in the game is Defenders bar none. Sure Blasters have issues but nothing in the lines that Defenders do. Controllers can do there job better and safer than they can. Some powers are just plain pointless (Sonic Buffs and Assasin Strike). Scrappers unresistable buff overrides a Defenders. Defenders Damage is in the category of total suckage to pure suckage. Defenders Primary Powers to Control Incoming Damage is better in a Controllers secondary than on a Defenders Primary and this was by design. Sorry but it's upsetting to see Castle coming here when so many issues are still unresolved (and probably won't be resolved) with a class that I consider the worst in the game.
At one time Blasters were bottom of the barrel compared to others but with ED, more health, and even Defiance (compare it to Vigilance) Blasters are now at the top again. -
What about Sonic Buffs not giving protection to Assasin Strike.
-
Lol..
Man...it used to be Knockout Blow wouldn't hit aything moving but now...
Knockout Blow hits but Haymaker misses.
Still kind of glad my Knockout Blow finally hits now. -
Your spot on about being in that Pit of yours. Hate that crap.

I would like them to institue a 1 minute timer in the towers so you can still use them as traps. Boom, TP Foe into the tower, your buddies get slaughtered, back to you.
Ohh and about Stalkers whining about Hurricane....please.... Why the Devs created such a chicken [censored] AT is beyond me. I won't even PvP a Stalker because of the cowardice way most people play them. If you can't win by being total Invis, a 1 shot kill button, and an auto hit you can't hit me button I don't know what to tell yeah. I think the AT was made for those who have little skill but big egos. -
If you tp them into the Tower and kill them sure they can report you but honestly a GM is going to come and expect themto be stuck. Of course they won't be and it will look like a false report. Still Cuppa has said it's Griefing so use your own wisdom in doing it. I know if I have a peticular Villain causing me heartache that I just can't seem to catch I'll use this Tatic to put him down. Sometimes you just gotta take a risk here and there.

After you get done with Defenders (and yes I really want Defenders fixed) could you please move on to Tanks next. I love my Defender as much as my Tank but right now the only character I refuse to play now is my Tank.

I thought you left the game Cuddles.
Good to hear about Defender issues your looking into Castle. Surprising you are but good nonetheless
[/ QUOTE ]
Well after they fixed Rage from having the 100% End Drain I thought I would stay. I mean I know how you wanted it in and everything but it was one of the main things that would drive me from the game.
Glad you cared enough to remember that way back when. -

A toggle drop here and there isn't that big of a deal. Personnally I like some of the changes and wish they would of taken place alot earlier in the game. Maybe we wouldn't of had all those damn nerfs.
Either way I plan on doing this arc and I'll be giving a complete verdict later on. -
The Pre-Order box tells you that because you Pre-Ordered you get a two day head start. It was the only reason I pre-ordered. I also bought a pre-order set for my friend in Britian. It was announced a while ago that CoH wouldn't start till October 31. The 2 day head start started.... two days before October 31.
So far I know at least 3 different MMORPG's that have rewarded significantly there customers that pre-order. Coh is one of them and honestly they reward pretty damn big...
Wow gave me a book... hated the game... and I felt I was ripped off.
Next time you plan on buying the game make sure Gamestop gives you your damn pre-order box. -
I'm just waiting for the Patch where the Devs just give in and finally name it "Dooom!".
-
It's a game for casual players.
Rare spawn yes.
Unattainable Badge? No.
Leaving it the way it is makes the game crappy for the casual players while rewarding those that can spend 12-16 hours looking for that spawn.
By the way I spent from 07:00 AM in the morning till 02:00AM at night searching for Sally today. As of this time there has been no spawn.
That's right. There has been 19 hours of known time where the creature hasn't spawned. This puts her spawn in the once every 2 days category not the once or twice a day category.
[ QUOTE ]
Message to Posi and the Devs; Leave Sally spawns just the way they are!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah that way we can screw the casual players. Glad you like that spawn rate because I personally think it's [censored]! -
I really don't care about the Badge Positron. I care about the story. When you got rid of the story you pretty much killed my interest in doing the TF. I like going back and reading the Souvenior. It's nice to read the hard work somebody has put into that mission and it's a shame that you guys decided to kill it.
Besides that your gimp and I'll take you on anytime in the arena.

Devs, I just want you to know that WE ARE OUT TO GET YOU!

YOU DO NOT NEED STAMINA. The "requirement" of Stamina is simply in your head. The Necessity of Stamina has been greatly exagerated.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please remember this is YOUR opinion... please don't qualify it as a fact.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've gotta agree with LiquidX on this actually. Any build can make it to 50 without Stamina; that's a fact. It may be easier with Stamina than without, but it's possible. Thus it's not "required".
[/ QUOTE ]
In other words, it won't kill you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actualy it would kill my game play. Would the game be fun for me?
With my Invuln/SS Tanker I have to have stamina plus tons of end reducers, with my Energy/Electric Blaster I have to have Stamina, with my Ice/Energy Blaster I had to have Stamina, with my Ice/Ice Blaster I had to have Stamina, and with my Warshade stamina plus End reducers weren't enough.
Your right going without Stamina won't kill me but it would kill any interest in this game for me. Six of my characters I have lvled to 50 needed both Stamina and Hasten. The fun factor would be replaced with frustration and disgust. Stamina is a band-aid to a very big and broken system. As they add more end reducing powers into the game (Rage, Hasten, FoN, etc) this band-aid is getting strained and stretched to do what it needs to do.
Endurance should have increased as we lvl thus the "need" of Stamina would have never been present. Instead they left it the same and never really adressed the problem that it has presented.
Yes all my characters needed stamina because without stamina they wouldn't have been fun to play (hell they were frustrating just to get to 20). The Devs need to look at this power set and try and make other sets not so dependent on the Fitness pool.
Kill Stamina without providing a fix to the problem of Endurance drain and nobody will have to write the words "Doom". It's already well known what would happen. -
After a year and there still coming to this point: Nerfs?
Why?
What couldn't you do or wouldn't do a year ago that your just starting to get to now?
I had a talk with my friend today about AC (Asherons Call 1) and why there still isn't a game that has yet to rival it in pure fun aspect.
I refuse to play AC 1 in general because it's addicting. It's the game you play and as you play it slowly hooks you in. There is so much to do, so many different things, and places to go.
So what is wrong with CoH?
First off you guys haven't come up with a coherent plan of what is balanced. You have yet to realize that you have certain issues and haven't sought to fix them (certain AT's need Stamina and Hasten) but have made them worse (Invuln/SS is a prime example of this problem). You have taken fun aspects and really ripped the core of fun away from it (Travel Suppresion). Instead you say "Can't give them inherent Stamina it'll make them overpowered." instead of saying "Look why are all these people selecting the Fitness line and how can we change it.".
I won't get into the end game content issue because there isn't one. You have to have something to have an issue with it and right now "There is no end game content."
It's been 3 years sence I left AC 1 and I can feel it slowly calling me back. 3 years of me searching for a game that could rival it's intensity, challange, ciontent, and fun. After all this there has yet to be a game that rise to the challange. So take a look Devs because it's coming close and there is a game out there that does offer fun, a challange, without endless nerfs.
I hope you begin to offer bigger, better, more real quick. -
Before you Make a Blaster Guide can be found here. The information in this thread is highly useful and I believe this should be a must read for any new and upcoming Blaster.

Scrappers have more DPS, but so far, I havnt seen any that could match the damage output of a comperable blaster Alpha Strike. Thats the trade off.
[/ QUOTE ]
A Tankers Energy Transfer and Total focus can and does outmatch most of our range Alpha attacks.
That's a Tank by the way and those attacks do stun damage.
I did a test using my Spine/Regen vs my Ice/Ice Blaster and found my Spine/REgen was doing near double the damage over time vs my Blaster.
I won't even mention Headsplitter which is the only power in the game that can one shot me through Force of Nature.

NVR EVER EVER EVER trust a AT that has to HIT a target to heal you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Never ever trust anybody to heal you. If you start taking damage get out of the way quickly. Then come back and get healed.

If you team with a tank that likes to hold aggro, forget you even have a rain power.

If you are teamed with a Tank and you use a Rain power inappropriatly expect to be kicked. You'll deserve it. Realize with those Rain powers when a good time is and when a bad time is.

This right here is probably the best secondary set that a Blaster can have.
The difference between my Energy/Electric and my Ice/Eenrgy is night and day.
Still there has yet to be a lvl where I haven't died. On some lvls I have died around 3 times on others just once but for each lvl I have died at least once.
With my Energy/Electric I spent entire lvls in debt so the choice of secondary really does help. -
[ QUOTE ]
On another note: Post in the Blaster forum how we are crap and see how quickly the tune changes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm actually pretty vocal on the Blaster boards and I actually posted there asking the Blaster community at large to review this Guide.
I want it accurate and honest.
On a different subject my Scrapper does more single Target damage than my Ice Blaster without crits and he's Spine (I posted on this a while ago when I did the test. The post is called Blasters King of damge...Right).
Honestly I would like to see Blasters get something real special at 50 after completing all the main TF's and doing 5 of the main Story Arcs post 40. -
Not at all. I'm all for helping others. I have also taken the "No Travel Power" side of things and really enjoy going that route. I never realized how bad the supresion was untill I played my Ice/Ice Blaster and compared her to my lvl 31 Blaster who has 5 slotted swift and 4 slotted Hover. With Power Boost this is actually viable and I find that the no supresion is great and the speed is good enough to allow me to jouste.
The speed is just under an unslotted Super Speed with Power Boost and a little faster than a one slotted Fly with Hover.
Hope this helps everybody and thankyou Katahn for your information on some of the pools. -
[ QUOTE ]
But I honestly disagree that debt is inherent to blasters and I think it's unfortunate that you put up a guide saying it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunatly most people playing a Blaster will disagree with this statement.
[ QUOTE ]
With good tactics, blasters don't have to find themselves in constant debt.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is for the beginner not the person who has already been down that path.
I pointed out Power Sets that are easier on the new Blaster and Powersets that are harder on the new Blaster.
My first Blaster was an Energy/Electric... Pretty damn hard and I found myself in constant debt. In fact there was entire lvls of debt.
So I'll give my resume. I have a lvl 50 Energy/Electric Blaster, a Lvl 50 Warshade, a Lvl 50 Spine/Regen (5 bars from 50 so let's just say 50) , a Lvl 46 Ice/Ice Blaster, a Lvl 39 Invuln/SS Tank, a Lvl 33 Dark/Dark Defender, and a Lvl 31 Ice/Energy Blaster. All of them haven't been powerlvled but lvled the good old fashioned way. I have been through the mission maps so much I have them memorized.
I wrote that guide in a humerous way but when you try and say an AT that has no Defenece, no Resistance, no Mez Protection, low Health, no ingrained healing ability, and does subpar Range damage doesn't have the game stacked against them then your not really being truthful. I'm just stating the facts.
I like the Blaster because it's a challange each and every battle. All I'm doing here is notifying the new Blasters what's stacked up against them and to be aware of it. I'm showing which sets are easier to work with and which ones are hard.
Take my Guide at face value and as a warning: The Blaster path is a hard but rewarding path that many give up on and few complete. -
This is the usual case except for Rikiti Drones, Snipers, Knives, Turrets, and them Nemesis Tollivers (the ones that can spot you from a mile away and shoot yeah).
