I would loved to have had a more thematic epic for my rad/rad corrupter.

But I had the choice of Dark, Lightning, Technology or Fish powers, nothing that fitted my theme.

If I16 allows me to recolour my Mu effects i'll be pretty happy
  2. Most favorite - Lost Bosses, tough as nails with lots of mez powers. But a well built low level character with mez resistance can make some really good xp taking these on. I love the "rescue mister yin" mission in faultline for this.

Least favorite - Malta Sappers are the obvious choice here for their "toggles go down now" powers.
  3. Chuck some sample costumes in your costume section as well for people to have a look at.

Your basic guidelines in that section are pretty spot on otherwise.
  4. You have fond memories of Zmud and refer to city of heroes as a graphical MUD.

    cheers

ping 430 sounds high, also back to hella lagsville after 5 mins of it being ok
  6. Is there an in game command for testing your ping?

The last 2 weeks i have had real lag issues, i've defragged, reset the modem, run a virus scanner, ran ad aware, cleaned my registry. done all the usual tricks and traps but still getting the issues.

I just want a way i can measure it for reference.

    Edit

Actually, resetting the modem seems to have worked. Difference between the reset and before is night and day. I had 3 second delays on cast only 10 mins ago

Really bummed about this. The posted deadline was to be the 29th. Well since this closed early, I still wanted to post here.

    Happy 4th everyone!

Yeah apologies for that. I did it a day early due to having real life stuff to do, and my 29th is your 28th which i forgot as well. That whole zany thing about being 18 hours ahead of the US on gobal time.

There is a link to this tread in the article though, so if people are interested they can follow the link and look at all the submissions.

    Sorry again mate

I put our success down to one power though, lingering radiation. We had two rad corrupters laying LR down to keep his recharge and regen down.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't mean to sound antagonistic, but I doubt that's what made your run easy. Our team had more -regen than you (Poison Trap > LR for regen debuff; then add Twilight Grasp x2, Transfusion, and Howling Twilight), not to mention Reichsman has lower-than-average regen according to Castle. And while you had more -rech (120% before AV resistance vs. 45% on average), you had about 18% debuff actually affecting him. And if a difference of 11.25% recharge is what made your fight easy, then we should have been able to get him below the halfway mark at least once, since part of our -rech was from stacking Dark Watcher's procs

    [/ QUOTE ]

Our run wasn't easy at all, it was easy until that room and then the ambushes kicked our buttskis into another dimension. Once we cleared the hangers on and went for reichmans it was easy.

2 rads with debuffs a plenty, an ice/kin and 5 other damage dealing toons kinda made the final fight a walk through.

A full group looks to be key here, along with lots of damage and lots of debuffing.

I would be really cagey running this in a team of 4 as I think you will just have a hard time doing enough damage to him.

    Just my 2 cents however.
  9. Magikwand

I totally agree that the hunting for recluses lt's bit is dull and not fun at all
  10. Once we cleared the room (which involved being wiped out, starting at the beginning and fighting through ambushes again.) we found Reichsman a pushover.

The danger was from the minions, not him for us.

I put our success down to one power though, lingering radiation. We had two rad corrupters laying LR down to keep his recharge and regen down. he took about 5-6 minutes to take down once the mooks were cleared.

team make up, 3 corrs, 2 Brutes, 2 veats, 1 dom.
  11. I like soloing a lot thanks, I don't do it all the time but i like the option to. Some days I just want to blob out and kill people without having to worry about guild commitments. That's how I have fun. You can't really do that in WOW without missing most of the good content.

As for the level cap. I would probably quit this game if the level cap went up. I have sunk a lot of time into fully equipping my main with purple IO's. If those became redundant over night I would be furious.

    More levels =/= more content.
    More content = more content.

Who said anything about balance? I was talking about fashion and how stupid toons in WOW look with mismatched items. And don't tell me items don't matter, several times i witnessed people being excluding from raids because they "didn't have the right gear". It's pretty rare for a toon to be excluded from a team here because they don't have a full kit of purple IO's. I've never seen it in person. (Although i have seen a petless mastermind booted from a team)

I think good sir, that if you want to play WOW, you should go play it. This game is not WOW, nor shall it ever be. If that's the game play experience your after, then that's the game you should be playing.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

this is a theme im seeing by alot of you CoH players. Do you guys not realize that its extremely fun to kill huge powerful bosses? Instead of your heals healing for 2000 at 80, they heal for 8000 becaues you put in the time, and are now capable of destroying the meanest and baddest bosses blizz can throw at you. Not only do i get a sense of "team" when i raid with my guild, but i also get a a lot of self accomplishment when destroying a boss we have worked on for so long. And the fact is, Blizz makes so much content, an average to hardcore raider will see 30 to 50 new boss fights a year, that dominates what there is to offer in CoH. Dont get me wrong though, i love flying around, using my super powers, and following stories in CoH, i just wish there was some raiding involved, i like what rogue sounds like.

If you look at raiding like raid/gear/raid/gear then you fail to see the point. You can look at anything that way if you desire. farm/alt/farm/alt/farm etc

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I can sum up a lot of points of view on this one.

COH is different to WOW. It is a rather different game, and by being different it attracts people who don't like some of WOW's features.

A big problem with some of the new MMO's coming out is they try to be too much like WOW. Why go try a new game that is a reskinned WOW when you can play WOW?

It is COH's differences to WOW that make it a viable game and have contributed to it sticking around so long.

Personally, I did not enjoy WOW. I did not enjoy the need to have a guild to enjoy the good content. I did not enjoy the idea of having to start from scratch every time the level cap went up. I didn't like doing a 3 hour mission and getting nothing for it.

Most of all, I hated how retarded my toons looked with their big dumb glowy and clashing outfits. Style gets you killed in WOW.
  13. Heh, such a stir over being able to change costumes.

Oh yeah, just a note about societal norms and cross dressing/transgendered stuff.

I think NZ is a bit more tolerant of this stuff than the US, I don't quite get the hate the OP has for this.

    NZ government factoid.

  14. This is why i never take fish powers as an epic.

That and it rarely fits any theme I have (darkness, Electricity and technology are much easier to bind to existing concepts than fish powers)
  15. Cheers everyone, just letting you know i've written the article and submitted the pics.

Keep an eye on the city scoop coming out on the 7-8th July.

I get a small amount of pleasure from knocking children off their pedestals that they've built for themselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just thought I'd quote this to anyone making the argument that there aren't those who petition solely to derive a sense of satisfaction from doing so. People who do things such as this are scum.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have to agree, I do it because im an extremely law abiding person, not for pleasure. Doing it for kicks is wrong.
  19. Yeah, we only report kids characters Not Rhino. We ask to make sure we are crushing someones dreams before sending the ticket.

I don't think i'm a real life superhero for this , but i do view myself as a conscientious citizen. And yes, I do report criminals to the police in real life as well. It would be unusual for someone with my background not to.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I bet you get a big snarky smirk on your face every time you report some kid who made a Wolverine ripoff character, hoping they'll ragequit the game because you have some over-inflated ego and false sense of importance, as if your 15 dollars a month is somehow more valuable than theirs'. It isn't. I wouldn't "QQ" about a character I made a month after the game came out (before any lawsuits) being genericed and resulting in a much better, original character. I just can't stand pretentious forumites who report people for no reason other than because they want to feel good about themselves by making others miserable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, i can tell you I don't get a buzz from reporting someone.

I always check vet badges first, if its a new player I send them a tell and explain the whole marvel lawsuit bit.

If it's a vet I just send the petition, they should know better.

But by all means, keep on thinking that we get together to gloat about how we crushed some 14 year old in Wisconsin's dream about being Wolverine. As for the $15 buck thing, I report to protect the game and keep it open. I for one would hate the game to be brought down due to the likes of you.

May i remind you that you don't have any right to use Marvels stuff without their permission? People knowingly creating copyright toons are in the wrong, not the people helping the game stay open. I do feel stink for the kids who don't know better, but as long as someone educates them on what they did wrong, i dont have a problem with it.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I don't petition people because I'm not a someone with strong character and values and think by saying this i am being edgy and sticking it to the man.

And yeah, before someone points out the irony of someone with my name posting in a thread like this, I know.

That's the point. This character (at least, under this name) does not exist anymore (Because its owned by marvel and not me), but I still use it as my global handle and forum name in spite of it, mainly because i have entitlement issues.

However, I am still sulking about it QQ

If you finish before you click any stars, you're fine.

If you click on any star rating first, you commit yourself to submitting a rating. If you click the same star again to turn it off, you'll submit a rating of 0.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You had me scared for a second... I go out of my way to play unrated arcs and give feedback, but I occasionally don't star it (because I feel that I'd be better off giving suggestions than rating it below a 3).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep, Crime of Fashion was mistaken; as others have said, not rating an arc does NOT give it a "zero star" rating. Also, as I stated earlier, with Issue 15 there won't be any "zero star" ratings period.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh good, I was worried i had tanked someones arc by mistake.
  24. I must admit to "accidentally" 0 starring an arc or two.

Sometimes I quit out in a hurry and forget to rate the arc, giving it a 0 star.

I usually go back and change my vote, but it happens
