Maybe the nuts that believe "ZOMFG...end of the world in 2012 cuz the Mayans said so!" arent so crazy after all.
brb, gotta go watch all the 2012 movies to see if theres a way out. -
Easy enough explanation for Stalkers using supergiant weapons...same technology/magic that lets Gravity Trollers/Doms pull forklifts from "someplace" and throw them at people.
Done.
Please hurry with the TW port for stalkers...kthx. -

Its funny cuz its true, but the PvP section is one of the few spots on the site that still get it popping like this in case you need a hit of drama and lowbrow humor.

I would like to keep enjoying this thread for all of its hate and animosity, but hope we can keep it strictly focused on the PvP side of things. Bringing Ann Coulter into the discussion as some type of right-wing champion is pretty fail, espicially since she cant wait to openly use racial and other types of slurs (and shes not even a battlerapper ). Id hate to see her used as a prop since shes about as racist as you can get...but shes white, blonde and educated, so its cool.
Back to the personal attacks please... -
Quote:Care bear or not, you were much nicer in explaining...thx and sorry to hear about that.I have a Philly Girl on Justice, Freedom, Champion and Victory they are all my PvP toons. I also have a good reputation on each server and on the forums. So the person who took my name on exalted is known as a griefer it was very upsetting to know that this type of person took my name. It was also disturbing to know that anyone would knowingly take someone's main name period, even more so to do it out of spite. So yes it basically makes me not want to play there. You might think it's silly but it meant something to me
It would never occur to me to do such a thing but then again for the most part I am a care bear. So since I work fulltime I didn't think to ask someone to save my name since again the idea of being an douchy name take'r didn't occur to me.
What I said is the experience tainted me to the server, and not wanting to play on it. It is not an attack on the people who do or want to play there. I am agree'ing that things can ruin something for you.
Also your right what the OP is doing is different and I have no issue with it and GL to him with the sale of the names.
And yeah, I may think its a lil silly, but I see your point (what about making your toon there..."The Real Phillygirl" or something along those lines?)

Quote:Kind of a strong word to associate with a video game, but sure, I can see how that could be considered "sleazy".Did you miss the part about someone getting a name on Exalted, and then contacting someone who uses that name on another server, to try to SELL them the name?
You don't see anything sleazy in that?
Because that's what people complained about - not that someone else is USING their 'favorite name'. The issue is that people get the names with the specific intention of holding them for ransom.
I said there wasnt any snark intended and I was just asking b/c I didnt know people really played main toon names on multiple servers.
Seem a little cranky, but thanks for explaining. -
Quote:Its always nice to look at the actual #s and thanks. Yeah, its one of the many powers that Ive seen ppl screaming for a nerf since KM came out. Im not much for playing FOTM/OP toons but have been on the opposite end of KMs and been 2-3 shotted while playing Stalkers and my ranged characters. Im not one for broad nerfs considering the current state of PvP, but it seems like anyone that is competitive would only take KM for Scrappers with the other primaries being an afterthought. A little wacky since the devs wanted a greater variety in PvP but there are sets like KM that do so much more damage than their conterparts.Lol you're saying that just because you gave me cancer on the other thread
Anyway look at how borked it is, from city of data:
Scrapper CS:
PVE: 62.56 Smashing damage + 160.16 Energy damage
PVP: 188.88 Smashing damage + 252.34 Energy damage = 441.22
Now the closest to Scrapper, Stalker CS:
PVE: 55.61 Smashing damage + 142.36 Energy damage
PVP: 50.24 Smashing damage + 129.2 Energy damage
Stalker CS actually does LESS damage in PvP than PvE.
And just to compare, Stalker AS in PvP from Hidden:
97.32 Smashing damage + 41.71 Energy damage + 250.25 Energy damage = 389.28
Really weird right? More damage than AS, yes. And if you take another ST long cast time attack like Eagle's Claw, the closest to CS I could find in activation time that Scrappers have, it does more damage than the PvE version but not by a huge margin (funnily enough, Eagle's Claw on Scrappers/Tankers does 50% more dmg on PvP, on Stalkers the PvP version does like 20 damage less than PvE, so PvP is messed up on a lot of powers, but more on CS).
We're sexy and we know it. -

It seems like I heard of this before on the forums but didnt think it was that big of a deal...
- people move around servers and use the same names of their main toons?
- if that name is used by someone else, it taints the playing experince?
Im honestly intrigued by this, no snark intended. -
Quote:Gotcha and thanks, always wondered if it was ZOMFG!!! in PvE as well.CS hits for the same damage as the 'big boys' (KO Blow, Seismic Smash, Total Focus). I think the only attacks that hit for more are Energy Transfer and CU from Street Justice with combo level (don't have StJ to check and I dunno how to see combo damage in Mids). From all those you can only have CU on scrappers, so CS is at least second place.
But on scrappers CS doesn't crit, it refreshes Power Siphon. The other KM attacks are kinda normal with the rech/end formula. It's a solid set, I haven't played to 50 only because of personal taste (disliked the animations).
And it's not slow, Burst has the same cast time as Whirling Sword and Focused Burst is 2 seconds, faster than Impale at 2.43. Only CS is slowish at 2.83 but still way faster than the 3.3 secs of Thunder Strike, One Thousand Cuts, Total Focus... It's a tiny bit slower than the new Energy Transfer, not bad for a set with one ST hard hitter.
The PvP thing in CS just shows how much PvP is borked - only the scrapper version does ZOMG damage, while the Stalker, Tanker and Brute versions of CS do similar damage in PvP and PvE, God knows why.
Youre Sexy and You Know It -

As silly as it may look...its a pretty hard hitting set. In PvP, CS hits for like Stalker AS damage without any of the hiding stuff.
Is the damage output over the top in PvE as well or just another wacky PvP mechanic? -
Quote:I like this one...City is more than a superhero game. It's progressed into a kind of themeless melting pot where anything and everything is possible. Superheroes in tights and capes roam the city, but so do warriors lost in time, aliens from other worlds, travelers from other dimensions, mutations and technological wonders every day.
It's a modern day Sigil. That makes it special.
Plus the gameplay, though intensely repetitive at its core, always manages to be satisfying in hundreds of different ways. Even if development stopped entirely right now, I don't think I would get tired of playing the game for another 5 years. There's always something else I haven't tried. -

Quote:Id say overgeneralizing...Hearing about the name camping, and even getting a question to how much i'd like to pay for my toon's names, isn't judging by the cover.
This is one of the reasons i avoid this server, and i really hate that the devs are trying to push all the VIPS there. Also the monthly CC over there, while ignoring the VIPs that stay loyal to their server?
Yeah, i read the 1st few chapters of that book, threw it in the fire place cause i don't like the book.
You are avoiding a whole server due to some players that are name camping.
Sounds like the same concept as people that avoid Virtue b/c of the RPing catgirls and avoid Freedom b/c everyone is looking for a farm or farming. Ive played on both of those servers for awhile now and never had a problem with either issue.
YMMV though...good luck. -
Sorry to hear about the family issue and hope it all works out.
It didnt involve zombies did it? (just trying to tie my well wishes into the content of the thread) -
lol
That was kinda funny -

lol
You guys are butchering this thread.
I guess we're stuck with these lazy types of replies until February.
Just ******* lazy... -
Hey all...
How do I know what powers can stack on themselves from the same caster by using Burnout?
Example - While on my Thermal/ Defender, can I cast Heat Exhaustion, Burnout and then HE again to stack the effects?
If not, where do I look to find out if powers do actually stack in this way?
Thanks in advance. -
Quote:Kitten PvP would be different.Dear Bob I read this wrong originally....
I saw Kitten VS Broadsword.
I've honestly never PvP'd, but in PvE I personally like Katana/Elect scrappers. They wipe the floor with the mobs.
Were you thinking of a ranged set, shooting them out of a BR type config or melee set, holding them by the tails like nunchucks? -
Quote:I would say your posts are usually thought provoking, but now that I got my new thing...I realize theyre all just lazy opinionsComing up with a fun catch phrase is fine enough. But the problem with claiming EVERYTHING in a TV show is the epitome of lazy storytelling and lazy parenting is that you quickly neuter the meaning of the word "epitome". It's sort of like how some people say everything is "awesome" - if everything was described as being awesome then what would you call something that was -really- awesome.
The irony in this case is that there are some truly legitimate examples of lazy storytelling and lazy parenting in this TV show. But when you try to gloss over the good parts pretending that it's ALL bad then I think you're doing a disservice to what makes the TV show worthwhile. Especially when you consider the comic book itself is far from being the epitome of great storytelling. In fact the more of the comic I manage to read the more I'm realizing it's got plenty of those failings of its own. Basically neither the TV show nor the comic are "that much better" than the other in these regards. They both ultimately have their own strengths and weaknesses and always will.
