  1. There are a myriad of threads all having to do with "let me get this contact out of my Active tab" for various reasons. Already done the Hallows a million times, don't want Officer Whatshisname in my list for the next 10 levels. Done the AE tour a million times, same thing. Etc., etc., etc.

Every different reason winds up needing a different solution. One solution that would, I'm pretty sure, solve all of them would be to have a button on the info tab for each contact that lets you "Inactivate This Contact" if the contact is in your Active tab or "Activate This Contact" if the contact is in your Inactive tab. By level 30 I always have a ton of contacts that I've outleveled but are still in my Active tab because they want to introduce me to other contacts that I've already outleveled and so on. The only way to clear them is to not only do whatever weak mish they tell you to do (sometimes they skip this part) but also to accept all their friends into your contacts list. It's a never-ending stream of useless.

By letting us shunt these to the Inactive tab when we want to, as opposed to whenever the system determines they're no longer applicable, we can use the Active contacts tab for what the name implies: contacts with whom we are actively involved.

I've been begging for this forever so I know either I'm alone in wanting it, it's so low a priority it'll never make schedule, or there are specific Dev reasons for not wanting it to be included. I feel I must ("it's a moral imperative!") come back here every once in a while to bring it back up, however, so here I am.

    Who's with me?
  2. Count me in on /sign-ing this for all the reasons already stated.

And yeah, the "remarkably quiet" is also in Croatoa. Anywhere other than the main zones.
  3. I'm pretty new to build tweeking so this might make no sense at all, but I'd like your input to let me know if I'm on the right track.

I realize that the inclusion of the ATO is questionably desirable, but since there are already 5 slots devoted to it, why not remove the second Mako's Bite from Radiant and move that slot over to the Nova Det to get the Form Empowerment proc in there. That boosts the S/L resist to the 85%, gives 9% damage boost across the board and given ED, shouldn't that come at least close to compensating for the loss of the second Mako's? It also boosts Psi resist by a noticeable amount.

    Thoughts?

    Extra Power Tray

After someone in game was kind enough to point me to this thread where I was overjoyed to find how to bind to the server tray, I created (and then tested) the following files.

    -----------File Name: WSHuman.txt-------------
    P "powexec_toggleon Dark Nova$$bindloadfile d:\keybinds\WSNova.txt"
    O "powexec_toggleon Black Dwarf$$bindloadfile d:\keybinds\WSDwarf.txt"

Obviously you'd have to change the paths to match where you put the files. I use the bindloadfilesilent instead of bindloadfile when in actual use; the above were for testing.

It all works great and it makes it very simple. The only problem is when you die your files get out of sync until you get yourself back to the human file. Easy enough to do while you're dead, but slightly more difficult if you wait until you're alive again. If you use them you'll see what I mean.

I'd be grateful if any of you would give me a shout about how you modify them for your own use so I can steal any good ideas you might have. Since I have little experience at either binding or Kheldians, I'm sure you'll all have some much better ways of doing things.

    Robin.
  5. Just looked up the GTX 690 specs. When I can figure out how to write it off as a business expense that baby is mine.
  6. Oh! Then yeah, Staff Fighting. I'm lovin' every minute of it.
  7. Can't say here. It's still in Beta. What I will say is that both thematically and practically it's the best/most fun melee set I've I've ever played and it's quiet which is a very big thing for me. Most attack sets so far are so loud that I have to turn my sound down or off and that detracts from the rest of the game.

If you're not in the vip beta, let me say that the new melee set is going to knock your socks off.

    Robin
  8. Okay, that build is majorly sweet. I expect I can get most or all of those sets with the primary I'm going to be using so I should be good to modify that. Thanks a ton!

    Robin

EDIT: Using the Agility incarnate Alpha throws the defense over softcap and pushes end recovery well above necessary. It might be overkill, actually. I might have to just go with Musculature to push out even more damage.
  9. It never ceases to amaze me that people using +res sets still get softcapped +def. Could you give me some advice on how to manage that? Inf is really no barrier any more since I can always still use my Fire/Fire tank as a wallet until this brute gets where she needs to be.

I do use Mids but I guess I'm just not very good at builds.
  10. Shinobi, could you elaborate on why one shouldn't take ToF? I use it against heavier damaging bosses in large mobs to keep them from landing any punches while I finish off the rest of the group. It's -20 ToHit is huge even if it doesn't completely stop their attacks. I've often found it to be the difference between faceplanting and having time to finish off the enemies.

I haven't ever played this exact build, of course, so maybe that's the difference. Or it's possible I'm doing something wrong with the rest of my building.
  11. Brute it is, then. I already have an iScrap but since he's Regen I don't get much of a kick out of playing him.

For my own reasons, I will not be using SD as my secondary. Other than that, any recommendations on a Brute secondary which is easy to buff up via IO sets and Incarnate powers into the stratosphere?

One thing I've always noticed with every character I've ever played: while the primary set is important to how the toon is played, the secondary set goes a lot further towards how much fun it is to play. I have no idea why that is for me, but it's true every time with every AT.

It sounds like the majority would recommend secondaries with dmg auras. I can sure get behind that. That would mean DA, ElecA, FA, and SA. SA drops dmg and rech into the toilet so that's out. DA bothers me a ton since it actually offers more resist to psy than to dark and I figure a defensive set should always be best against it's own type. That implies ElecA or FA but I'm open to any suggestions except SD (which can't be used with the primary I plan to take).

    What do you all think?

Thanks again for all the advice.

    Robin
  12. Question: Is it easier to boost the damage of a tanker to near scrapper levels or to boost the survivability of a scrapper to near tanker levels?

In other words, as far as boosts go (IO Sets, Incarnate abilities, etc. but *not* relying on other players for buffs) is it easier to scrap as a tank or tank as a scrapper?

    Thanks.

    Robin
  13. Yep. I'm back in. Just in time to have to log out to do some RL crap. Ah screw it. I'm on vacation...

  15. European Support (redname) just posted an announcement indicating maint was taking longer than expected and they had no ETA on completion. Server status page is obviously useless since the LUT is from freakin' June! Wow.

I guess we're just in a holding pattern.
  16. It's now 24min past the end of the scheduled maintenance for today and all the servers are showing UP in the server status window, but I'm still unable to log in. Is it just me? When attempting to I get the following error message:

The game client was unable to connect to the login server. This may be due to a local network issue such as a firewall block, or may be because the login server is down for maintenance. Please check your network settings and try again, or check http://www.cityofheroes.com/servers/index.html for current server status.

Note that since I'm posting this and seeing the server status I'm not having connection issues and since I was just playing last night I have no firewall problems. Is anyone else having this problem?

    Thanks.
  17. Is anyone else noticing a problem with the AE search? I can't get any AE missions to show up at all. It's stuck on "Searching...".

    Edit: Nevermind. Just *really* slow.
  18. Yep. My timing just sucks. Post before the notes come out on the day of an update and look like a schmuck when you get home from work. I'll try to remember that for next time.

On the other hand, YAY! Fixed!
  19. Has the bug introduced by the fix for the bug (the known issue mentioned in the post where the procs are only triggering against one target) been fixed yet? I haven't played for a few days but it didn't seem like it when I last played. The fact that this effects all Interface powers, as opposed to just the damage dealing power, means that other debuffs have become much less useful. Specifically the to-hit debuff power. Maybe I'm just imagining things but I went from needing to use Healing Flames once in a while to needing to use Rise of the Pheonix once in a while and couldn't figure out what changed until I read these patch notes so I'm pretty sure they're related.

Any information would be appreciated. It's been quite a while since anyone posted to this thread and I haven't found anything on this known issue anywhere else.

Note I'm not arguing with the bug they fixed. That was very important to fix and they did it right. I'm only talking about the known issue it introduced which they said would be fixed in an upcoming patch but which I have not seen anything on since.

    Thanks.

    Electric Control

Wow. With 13 purples and a PVP IO that's likely to already be a several billion inf build and the def/res is pretty light. I might have to rethink my secondary set choices.

Or maybe it's just been so long since I've played a troller I'm used to having a tank's protective powers.

At any rate, I thank you very much for the starter-build. That will help a lot!

    Electric Control

Does anyone have a good example build for a elec/therm in mids they could post? I'm starting to plan my build but have no where to start because I'm fairly new to both mids and planning builds in advance. Up until recently I've just built all my toons as they've leveled and then done trial and error with respecs. Limited respecs, however, means limited attempts to get it right so I've started trying to plan them out in advance. I example build would be very helpful.
  22. Hey, check out this. Either scroll down to the middle of the very long page or do a content search on it for "recruit". Looks perfect and it's already built by NCSoft and active in an NCSoft game.
  23. While I agree with all this from Sam's point of view, I also agree with it from the reverse. It would make it much easier for social groups to find social people as well.

I think it's just all the way around a great idea for helping everyone.

Tell that to my very frustrated Fire/Rad 'troller.

    She'd love this.
