Quote:Nice! Thanks! How about a "Reactivate a Premium account for free, once every 3 months" deal?
The Referral deal can be used on any account that has been inactive for 3 months or more (including Premium accounts, even ones that have previously used a Referral code). When you use the Referral code, the invited friend (ie, your Premium account) reactivates for the regular $15 cost and gets a 500 point bonus, and the invitee (ie your main account) gets a month of free game time.
Just stagger which accounts you are referring, and each Premium account will get one month of VIP time + 500 bonus points out of every four months, while your main account continues as it is right now, at no extra cost. -
I didn't have that particular problem on the Cyber Monday deals - there must have been 7 or 8 separate transactions using the card... but that may have been specific to Cyber Monday.
-
Quote:If the 99c deal here works the same way it did over the holidays, yes you'll get the 400 points up front, NOT at the end of the month (At least all of my extra accounts did - I used the free VIP month to get half of my extra accounts to level 20 and switch them to vigilante, so that I'd have fillers to start story arcs villain side, which typically only require four characters, but still have a stable of eight characters to meet the steeper requirements for starting the hero side TFs). Every one of my new accounts got the 400 points right up front. And right as the accounts reverted to premium, I got the second reward merit (which meant that as premium accounts, they had trades activated, more chat channels available, etc.) It was actually a very sweet deal for 99c a pop - way more useful to me than if I'd been forced to make 7 extra free accounts. If so what's to stop someone from creating new accounts just to get 5 super packs for a dollarand then repeating?
To be honest, if they did some sort of 'reactivate a premium account for a month for 99c' deal (which I doubt they'd do), say every six months or so, they'd probably get another $3-$7 or so from me on occasion for those extra accounts whenever they did the deal (depending on how many of my extra accounts I think I'd be actively playing to work on leveling up during that month).
I doubt they ever would, mind you. -
You can own as many as you want. The first 3 are free (and Dev's Choice or Hall of Fame frees up an otherwise 'used' slot). The rest you buy (so, I surmise you've already bought 5). If you buy another 'set' of 5 slots, you'll have 13 total. If you buy 5 more after that, you'll have 18 total. You can also buy them in groups of 1 or 2 (IIRC) - works the same way (i.e. if you had 18, and bought 2, you'd now have 20).
I only have eight on live (on each account - so I guess 16 total). On test, I 'bought' 5 more just to test to make sure I really could go above 8. It worked - so unless they've removed that from live, it should work here too.
I haven't tested to see if I can go above 13, but I imagine you can. -
Today's update:

Quote:Perfect! I am very, very happy to hear this.Hello everyone!
I appreciate the feedback youve all been given here and on the beta forums. Ive just made the following changes:
1) Statesmans Pal will remain Statesmans Pal and will be given out when completing A Heros Hero, the original Maria Jenkins arc, in flashback
2) Positrons Pal will be given out when completing, A Heros Epic, the new Maria Jenkins arc
3) Sister Psyches Comrade will remain the same and be given out when completing Psyches task force in flashback once Issue 23 is launched.
4) Penelope Yins Friend will be rewarded when completing her new task force
5) The Task Force Commander badge will be rewarded by having either Penelope Yins Friend or Sister Psyches Comrade
Thanks again for all your feedback!

Hmm... depends on what qualifies as 'small':
"Small" = low or minimal impact. Well, probably nothing. If I think of something I'll add it.
"Small" = simple enough to easily summarize (or very quickly implement):
Add active PvP to all zones.
I was going to say 'require teams on all content.' But now that I think about it, I'd probably just use my free accounts to get around that. -
Quote:Heh, thank you! I do think those two are some of my best - so I'm sorry to say that (in my own opinion) some of my other stuff isn't quite as good (example: the Primus Trilogy is actually my first serious attempt, at it shows. It's not terrible, but it could be better).Having played Cracking Skulls and The Lazarus Project - Coulomb you should be making arcs for this game. You just get it. The stories fit the world but are interesting and dramatic. The details are great.
I will definitely try out your other arcs.
I'm hoping to be able to get back into writing some arcs again this summer... -

I'll let the thread collect data for the rest of the weekend, and then update Monday morning. -
Quote:Well, to answer your question... (and yes, this was the strategy I used before my multiple DA runs had netted these characters a nice stable of incarnate abilities - these days my methods are far more 'direct')Obviously, I'm not the OP. But I am curious how others soloed the content without already having Incarnate abilities. Stating that you soloed the content with Incarnate abilities is just...frustrating.
But I am sort of threadjacking so my frustration is irrelevant.
On my blaster (elec/elec), my build makes heavy use of IOs that give me ranged defense. He's got a ranged defense of about 42.5%. To deal with the "monster clusters" I would "snipe" whatever foe I suspected would pull the least amount of cyclopses. I'd stay put and let whatever got pulled come to me, and hover out of reach, blasting away. The cyclopses have only one ranged attack on a relatively long recharge; the minotaurs seem to have some sort of cone, but for some reason I think they were consistently aiming at me while I was out of range, because they never managed to actually hit me with it.
Frequently the missed attacks on me would trigger the interest of my computer controlled Cim. allies. I'd continue hoverblasting while they moved in to attack. Solaris was especially useful in the fight since her psi damage tended to blow through resistance, even after the bad guys would hit unstoppable.
Ironically, the boss-heavy "elder" fights after the monsters were a lot harder on me - multiple flying, boss-class foes to contend with, so hover-blasting wasn't as useful. I did a lot of "hit Thunderous Blast and run like hell, hoping my allies would intercept the wave of death coming my way before I face planted - which was not an uncommon occurrence."
My brute (ss/elec) was actually a lot harder than the blaster. Basically, I made judicious use of my Tier 9 (to get near 90% resistance to everything), along with defense inspirations (to minimize hits even with the 90% resistance, and that's on top of IOs giving this guy 40% melee defense), and damage. I actually tended to focus a lot more on gathering aggro - running around, throwing whatever AoE's I had, and attacking anything that seemed focused on my allies. I actually relied on my allies to make the kills, and I just kept the monsters' attention as much as possible.
Even then, by the time the monster battles were over, I'm pretty sure only Imperious was still alive. For the "elder" fights (and Romulus) I was *very* patient - take on one group, and let Imperious heal up between fights.
During Beta, I actually tested the mission with a regen scrapper. I couldn't beat it (but that was one of my first attempts, and I quit after the first failure - if I had it all to do over again, I'd be making very heavy use of purples and oranges to max out defense and resistance - heck I probably would even run multiple repeatables to get some super inspirations). Willpower's reliance on regeneration might reflect that regen based characters have a lot of trouble with these fights. -
Three commons for me and an empyrean merit. (Of the components, one was a first run and two were flashbacks.)

Update time! (One common and one uncommon for me this time around)
I've decided to start tracking merit rolls, where available, since I can't be completely sure they're what I thought they were. Specifically, I've begun to seriously suspect the drop rate of Empyrean merits from the merit roll reward were reduced after Gabriel was added. But suspicion isn't proof.
If you've got the information, let me know: how many merit rolls you've made, and how many of each "kind" came up (i.e. "astral" if you got the 2 astrals, or "empyrean" if you got the empyrean merit). I care about rolls not actual numbers of merits. So if you've got data for 10 "rolls" on the merit table, and came up astrals 8 times (for 16 astrals total) and empyreans twice, please list that as "8 astral" not 16 astral.
If at all possible, only provide data for merit rolls from after Taskmaster Gabriel was added. If you're not sure, I'd prefer if you leave the data out - there'll be plenty of time to collect enough data for good statistics here.
Obviously, don't feel like you need to provide both; if all you've got for the day is a merit roll, that's fine. Same goes for if you only did component rolls, and not merit rolls.
Okay, on to the actual tally:
832 rolls total:
632 Commons (76.0%)
153 Uncommons (18.4%)
38 Rares (4.6%)
9 Very Rare (1.1%)
So far, each roll on the component table gives "incarnate progress" of:
Average Thread Value (Standard): 56.47
Average Thread Value (Tier 3): 49.43
Average Thread Value (Tier 4): 47.08
Merit rolls:
14 Astral (82.4%)
3 Empyreal (17.6%)
A roll on the merit table gives "incarnate progress" of: 14.09*
*"Astral" gives 2 astral merits, worth 4 threads total. Empyreans have their highest value when converted into Very Rares (45 threads per Empyrean), but probably are much more frequently converted into Rares (42.5 threads per Empyrean), so I use 42.5 threads to represent the "progress" value of an Empyrean merit.
A little bit more information (big update today):
The current ratios are:
Relative to rares (Tier 3): 16.63 commons : 4.03 uncommons : 1 rare
To build up to a Tier 3 power: 7 commons : 1 uncommon : 1 rare
Because 4 uncommons (+100 threads) builds a rare, we can think of 3.03 uncommons (above what you need) as 0.75 rares, so the adjusted ratio of commons to rares is:
9.5 commons: 1 rare.
So the tables "overproduce" commons by about 36%, if you are aiming for getting an incarnate power crafted up to Tier 3.
Relative to very rares (Tier 4): 70.22 commons : 17 uncommons : 4.22 rares : 1 very rare
To build up to a Tier 4 power: 16 commons : 2 uncommons : 2 rares : 1 very rare
15 extra uncommons = 3.75 rares = 0.9375 very rares
2.22 extra rares = 0.555 very rares
So the adjusted ratio of commons to very rares is:
28.17 commons : 1 very rare
So the tables "oveproduce" commons by about 76% if you are aiming for getting an incarnate power crafted up to Tier 4.
In general, what that means is that provided your aim is to get a power up to Tier 3 or Tier 4, until the component rolls have given you all the rares and very rares you need to reach your goal the most efficient strategy, long-term, is to save all threads and merits for crafting into rares or very rares. The component tables will generally drop all the commons and uncommons you'll need (and more) before you get the rares or very rares you need.
In fact, there's a good likelihood that you'll have enough "excess" to directly craft the rare you need *before* you actually get one to drop, and a very good likelihood you'll have enough "excess" to directly craft a very rare before you get one to drop.
I've pointed this out before, but for those that are interested - especially those used to the trials - it bears repeating since it's counter intuitive relative to "trial logic" (which the rarer components are common enough you are likely, although not guaranteed, to have what you need before you have every common to need to get to a certain level of power, so converting threads to commons is potentially useful; for the solo path, converting threads and merits into commons and even uncommons is potentially a liability, long-term). -
Quote:For real?! The odds of that are actually 0.001%. Wow. Just wow. (EDIT: But to be fair, the odds I'd get four rares in a row were half that...)40 reward tables taken for the component thus far. Nothing greater than common.
10 reward tables taken for the Merit(s). 8 2xAstrals, 2 Emps.
Hmm ... most of my testing on beta implied astrals to emps were about 2/3 to 1/3, but ever since they introduced Gabriel, I've noticed that I'm getting *very* long strings of astrals and almost no empyreans. I must admit I'm starting to get a little suspicious that they actually stealth nerfed the merit roll in response to the "guaranteed" merits Gabriel gives. I might actually start tracking merit rolls in the near future to see - at the moment I've got way too little data to draw any real conclusions.
(I'll post the real update a bit later today). -
And I'm back! Excellent job - a lot of good information over the weekend! Thank you to everybody providing data to track DA drops!

Heh, you've got Cracking Skulls twice. Once as a 5-star arc, and once as a 4-star arc.
EDIT: Ah! It's been fixed. -
One last update for today. I'll be out of touch until Monday, but I'll update then based on whatever has been posted to this thread.

I'll post a second update later today - but that'll be the last I'll have internet access until Monday, so the next update won't be until then (so I'll just tally the results for the weekend when I get back online).
By the way, rather shocking day today. Two first runs, and two flashbacks. All rare (!!) -

Quote:That's odd ... she's always spawned as an AV for me (at least on the character set to spawn AVs).So I'm running the DA missions with my SG and we get to The Sentinel and are expecting a big AV fight, but he's an EB, so we rather anti climatically wipe the floor with him. I think this is normal and carry on.
Then last night I'm doing the Diabluque mission, get to the end and she is an Orange EB. I check my difficulty settings and I am set for AVs.
Soooo, the mobs in the DA missions are harder to clear then the end bosses. This needs to be fixed.
(In that particular DA mission, I mean)
EDIT: And just for the record, Tub Ci also spawns as a full AV for me, as does Black Scorpion in Max's missions. The other "entities" spawn as EBs (the Sentinel, the Kereses, the Mother Keres, and the Embodiment of Mot). I do have to admit, that it seems weird to me that the Embodiment *isn't* an AV - at least from a climactic fight standpoint - although I *can* see how all of the "damage" I've done inside of Mot might have weakened the Embodiment down to "automatic" EB status. -
-
My guess is that it's that patch that has been on test being published to live.
But I didn't see an announcement for it either, so it isn't just you. -
Ran a Sister Solaris flashback (working toward this week's two empyreans) and got another rare. (Not a complaint - just pleased with my luck.)
I have begun to notice my complete lack of ability to roll anything other than astral merits on this character. I think this is about ten rolls in a row - never gotten a empyrean roll on this guy. Odd.
Anyway, here's today's update:
623 rolls total:
464 Commons (74.5%)
121 Uncommons (19.4%)
31 Rares (5.0%)
7 Very Rare (1.1%)
So far, each roll on the component table gives "incarnate progress" of:
