Every time you take a con WOAH SUN serious a baby barrier gets its wings.
-
wp stalkers get a built in self heal.
-
Repel protection and built in +perception are the two biggies. Also silly easy to cap hp without accoing. Also with the stacked mitigation and with shadow meld it offers it a nice escape power on its own.
-
For zone stalking in rv I prefer my elec/wp/soul over my other stalkers. If I am feeling lazy though I will load up my spine/regin/mako. I used to play spine nin and em regin to, I would rate the elec wp ahead of both for pure stalking for myself, but I am terrible at stalking.

Quote:Maybe 41 points of KB protection is a lot more expensive than I realize, but if it's not, I don't pay as much for the rest of that as you seem to.
Only because blessing get so pricey. And the pvpos are another expensive kn protection bonus. Seriously though you only need the 41 if you play in arena or on freedom a lot. If you are on a different server you can probably get by with about 10-15 less. And honestly if the zone is slow enough you can get by with even far less. Kb is only a death sentence if ther is enough players or good enough players to close a spike on a kbed target. -
pvpo bonuses are always on regardless of enhancement level/class level.

Last time we had a nice list we got pvp 2.0. At least we know we can blame you for pvp 3.0 mac.

PVE: Hi, I heard that PvP is kind of fun in this game can you help me get started.
PVP: Well its not nearly as fun anymore its a game that might as well been made by a moron
This part may actual be said. Lets go through the rest for fun.
Quote:PVE: Oh but if I wanted to give it a try.
PVP: Ok lets look at you. Your power selections are crap
Quote:PVE: I have to do a second build ?
PVP: No you have to do second character (SR/Ice Blast/Empathy .../Fire control) are all worthless.
Reroll was a common answer to many questions in old pvp as, but only in high end. Pretty much any zone can be functional for zone play. Also this line as well of several of your post show how completely out of touch with anything remotely pvp related in this game. Just so you know fire control and empathy are two of the top sets. And if you would like I will go through and pull out all the other wrong stuff you have thrown out some time, just ask.
Quote:PVE: Ok so I have to do a second character and get him up level and this will put me on an even footing ? That is kind of tough it took me a long time to get this one done.
PvP: Oh don't expect to be on an even footing, you have a SO build, There are all kinds of specialists out there that will just destroy you with that. If you dont have KB protection/Plus perception/increased HP/ Increased Recharge
Quote:PVE: Its going to take me hundreds of hours to get that done, I mean I have been playing the game for years and my main still isn't where I want him to be.
PVP: Well get your character powerleveled and use the market or find some other fast way to raise inf.
If it takes you hundreds of hours to get a toon pvpable you are either lazy or a tard. Even with the ssk nerf it takes very little time to get a toon to 50. And as I have posted in this thread already you can make a very viable pvp build for 100 mil or less which is a mere drop in the bucket for a 50.
Quote:PVE: Once I do all that its really fun at least ?
PVP: Oh Yeah, Black Barrier has great tales of how he got people so upset they were sending him hate mail, and Skeet destroyed badgers by the bucketload while they were in zone.*
Quote:PVE: [sheepishly] well the conversation and atmosphere is good ?
PVP: Yeah as long as you can get past the mental game and the things people will say to put you off your game.
Not very true either. Most of the nicer pvpers and get ready for this that includes black barrier all talk freely and friendly with each other. You have to be a real special person to get them(us) to talk down to you. As for the trash talk and stuff to get you off your game, if you do anything comepetively you know this part of ALL competition. As I said in a thread in the pvp section if they need coddling and hand holding pvp probably is never going to be for them anyways.
Quote:PVE: Like what ? Are they going to point behind me and say wow claudia shiffer ? Female Characters go around flashing ?
PVP: No more like if they think you are female they will suggest you put strange things into odd orifices, scratch that they will suggest that even if you are male. You know things they think will really rile you up and get you to make stupid moves.
I think you either rarely pvp and have just twisted and distorted stories you have heard so much that you know believe this is what every day is like in pvp. Simply put you are wrong. Trash talk seldom goes blue and is actually more kindergarten in nature and pretty friendly ribbing for the most part.
Quote:PVE: Is there anything thats really great ?
PVP: Well there are these drops you can get only in PvP.
There is also camaraderie and the challenge of something more than bonehead npcs to predictably whack at for hours on end. If you think pvpos are the only draw why was pvp so much stronger before they came into being?
Quote:PVE: Well thanks, I'll get back to you on this. Our SG is having a dance party costume contest next week, some really nice people will be there.
{PVEer to himself: Boy that was close, glad I decided to check things out first}
PVP: I'll get back to you on that. {To himself: Whiny fing Carebear what did he expect it would be like}
the stuff contained in the {} covers more of your core issues with this than anything else you have posted. Its is truly amazing how you can only see the best on one side and only the worst on the other. Fact of this game at the moment is pvp is in a very down state but those of that are left are incredibly patient and insightful. Especially to anyone who take the time to ask and in particular listen. We aren't out there 'wrekin noubs' and running them off. After many duels and matches there is almost always good back and forth with the newer players explaining how theny can improve and what the can change up. If you think its crazy to repsec for pvp you should have been a pvper for a long and having to respec at least 1-4 toons every patch that changed powers and sometimes even more than that. What pvpers do is not easy, but we do enjoy it that is why we are there. No amount of adding pvpos or any kind of rewards will make people enjoy it, that is where the true problem lies in this game. Its a game created in the pve world for you to always be better than your enemy. A very large portion of people play this game just for that reason, its fun and easy in pve. It is very hard to get someone who likes the game for those reasons to want to move to a harder area with more losing. This is no blame of pvpers or even the devs for that matter. Its just human nature and nothing we will ever change. The only real way they could deal with it is try to draw in entirely new players who seek more competitive game play. As this is an old mmorpg I doubt they would ever consider sinking that amount of investment into it.
let me grab the last one for mac
Quote:I do have to ask if you are better at something just how are they dragging you down again ?
This game was changed to cater to people who thought the system was a combination of to fast and favored the older players with superior builds. Neither of these were actual true. Sure in old pvp there needed to be some tweaks and changes. So many in fact that the pvpers all got together and made a huge f'n list about it. Instead of those chages we got the i13 pvp. All those changes really did was slow down kill rates, not because of skill or build just by lowering damage and raising resistance. So all they really did was create a bit of an illusion that the bad players were doing better. The farther we get from old pvp and the more people we get who have only played with the new system the more you hear the same kind of complaints about this pvp imbalance wise. So seeing we had a whole system changed to make people happy with pvp who either still don't pvp or are still really bad at it I would say that is pretty much dragging us down.
In closing Another_Fan, I highly recommend you actually go get some pvp experience and interact with actual pvpers before trying to represent as you know all with that area. You have made so many incorrect and biased post in this thread that it boggles my mind. -
When you used to play you would have had to find an arena then use a kiosk to create/join a match. Now we have the /arenalist command. You can also do it by looking under your menu and hitting z. Once there hit create match or to join a match I usually sort it to player created. I will say though unless you have freinds you pvp with you will have a hard time finding matches against non 50s.
Welcome back and good luck to you. -
Quote:the fact that i13 made phase or hibernate a necessity when playing a squishy in zone makes hybrid builds even harder than in i12.
So true. I think I had one toon total with phase or hiber that wasn't a stalker pre i13. Now every toon I have has one or the other. -
I hate rad more than archery on blasters, so you didn't really have to sell me on that. Its still not psi fire or sonic though. I still want to smack them for changing the recharge times on rad blast. I had such high hopes for it.
-
At quick glance you really only need one achilles proc slotted. I would keep it in n bolt. I would work some lady gray damage procs in to. They are still cheap and the extra damage is nice. You can steal a slot from boost range and add a kismet to frozen armor. As far as a cheap build though it looks workable.

In every form of competition there is two groups of people. One is the gentlemanly player who does his best to always exude good sportsmanship. Then there is the more arrogant and boastful trash talkers. Neither side is better than the other and the only time trash talk can get to you is if you let it. The real problem comes when you expect someone should behave the way you think they should. free will will prevent that from ever happening. If you are easily irked by trash talkers it is more on you to make sure to not to fall into the trap of it, because that is the reason why the trash talker does what he does. You have so many options in this game for ways to avoid this that to complain about it makes you seem quite silly. Disable cross faction chat. Close broadcast. Disable tells. Instead of expecting someone else to be more adult try acting like the bigger person in the first place.
P.S.: I am a horrible pvper and I litterally never stop talking, ever. I trash talk in every form of competion I have ever been in. Its part of my 'game'. I refuse to believe I should ahve to be nice and hold peoples hands and blow them kisses to try to get them into my part of the game. Fact is if they need that kind of coddling to get into pvp they probably have no place in it. Not being a dick just saying. -
Quote:I have a kat/regen with every power slotted with anything from LotG, Kin Com, Oblits, ToD, to 4 sets of Numinas. Several 7.5% rech instead of purples for xtra rech. and i have yet to win vs. 2 diff brutes and 2 diff kat/regen scrappers. That is, when i'm even able to get a 1 vs. 1 and not have 3 stalkers just sitting in a zone waiting to AS someone. There's some real skill there.
Which brings me to another question. Why is Invisible on blue not as good as Hide for stalkers? Every time i'm invisi, i am always hit by someone. lol. Is there something that can be used to see stalkers, or is theirs just better than ours?
I am at work and have more time to reply to this so I thought I would. For startedrs one of your problems is dueling in zones. Always assume you will be interuppted by something or someone if you do that. /arenalist is far to easy to use to even believe this complaint still comes up at all.
On to the point of you losing to a brute on a regin scrapper much less a kat regin means you need to practice more. While i am anti fightclub I can tell you that you should be nigh unkillable with just sos on a kat regin. I am sure you will disagree with that but trust me I am right.
For your red vs blue invis thing it was pretty well covered already but I will throw some stuff on. The stalker at is based on invis and is probably on of the squishest toons in the game. Without them having hide they would have to rework the whole at from the ground up. While it can be frustrating to a novice pvper to deal with they are pretty much nothing once you learn some basics and get more accustomed to pvp. Simple things like movement and knowing when to hit long rooting powers can help make them very little concern.
As far as why you get seen so easily most pvpers, even bad ones, who pvp on regular basis will have +perception in their builds. Once stealth ios came into being tactics or focused accuarcy went from being nice to being required in any serious pvp build. Without it you are literally blind in a zone waiting for your enemy to act first, and in this age of supression that is like a death sentence.
I would like to touch on the thing someone said about needing to completely respec into a non pve friendly build to be sucessful in pvp. This was actually a concern I brought up in i13 beta when the aoe damage powers were dropped. It used to be that a fire em blaster that was pvp speced in i12 would be just as dominant in pve. The common response was that was what dual builds are for. While I was aware of that I personally enjoyed my hybrid builds. That said though you can probably do a dual spec for a pvp build for most toons for incredibly cheap. Two of the most sought out bonuses nowadays are +damage and +hp. You can find these bonuses on the cheap all over the market. Kb ios were once the large threshold because of the price barrier/availabilty but that is no longer the case. If you have even a basic grasp of the market you can put together a decent workable pvp spec for any toon for around 100 mil. In this day and age that is simply not that much. I would even venture to say you would need even less on any server besides freedom because alot of the fine tuned stuff you see like knockback specialist just are not as common on other servers. You do not and never have needed a billion dollar build to compete in pvp.
Man I hate making tl;dr post -
-
About the only real loot you need to pvp with is kb ios. You don't really need accolades either, they are nice but not required except maybe in high end areas, definitely not for zones.
When i13 went to beta alot of posted that the changes that came in really woulnd't change that much. IN the end it didn't. Pvpers switched from ultra high end +rech builds to more rounded builds with more focus on +damage. Throw in 32+ kb protection + acro on squishies. The only other real changes is the amount of people pvping and where. All non freedom servers are pretty much officially pvp dead with most either transferring there or rolling toons to pvp with there. -
For 1v1 you want rad/ fire/ or /sonic. In some outlying cases elec/ and dark/ may make the cut as well, but they are generally secondary specfic(see: dark/cold and elec/therm). For secondaries you are really looking at just thermal for top end easy of use 1v1ing. All other secondaries have some kind of catch to go with them that may make it tough for people who are not used to the playstyle.
Not having a self heal and having to learn proper inspire/hiber/phase management is not an easy thing for alot of people. I have seen a couple non dark/ colds do decent but I would never consider recommending even dark cold to somebody unless they were extremely well versed on 1v1ing. Another decent/rare build for dueling is /dark miasma. This also is not a very good starter build.
From reading the op you should probably just roll with the fotmness and do elec therm. Yes its an easy build. No one will ever want to fight you. It is however the build you seem to be looking for as far as straight forward and ease of play. -
Just said to epsi in rv.
[Broadcast] Devils Own Assassin: yea i know how good a pvper u arte thru the forums -
Quote:Well i honestly think rad has to be right there u can power boost its stun as well
Except you can throw the sonic stun from twice the distance. This makes it easier to set the spike with. By the time the rad blaster is in range for the mez the spike is probably resolved in some manner already.
Quote:I also doubt many of u have even tried rad for blasters.
While I am sure you can make a rad blaster alright in team settings, if you are setting up for a serious 8v8 lineup it has no room in the lineup. -
While earth ea sounds good, in practice its actually pretty craptacular. Mind ea is good but imo fire ea is better. And for as good as fire ea is its still pretty rare.
-
Actually there is a pretty finite number to aim for on about everything. +Hp is one of the least dred things in game so it is very desirable. Around 50-70 rech is good. And +damage in the neighborhood of 20+. If you are a squishy add in kb protection of around 41 and you have the basic formula to aim for. They did lower some of the higher end stuff like recharge with dr but for the most part the only real difference between i12 builds and i13 builds is kb. Otherwise they are pretty much just minor tweaks of one another. Just my 2 cents.

Quote:We do need to change how we handle players especially new players trying to get into pvp instead of just attacking them.
I treat people as they treat me. If a new player or even a vet comes at me being polite and nice I return it to them. I don't care how new a player is, if some chucklehead wants to spew off like a god I will put him in his place. So basically I am saying I don't care how bad I am or was don't expect me to change any time soon.
