Quote:Good to know. Thanks! With an upgraded power supply, I don't see why not. I should point out that the Antec BP550 is 0.6" longer front to back than the PSU HP puts in there (which is standard size). Also not sure if there are any stops or latching mechanisms in the case that could prevent you from using a longer power supply than the standard sized ones.
The modular cabling of the BP550 should help keeping the cable mess down and the larger fan should improve airflow and internal temperatures considering all the side venting HP has in those cases.
When you get around to replacing the power supply I would suggest taking a lot of photos of the miscellaneous cabling is connected to the motherboard in the off chance you accidentally dislodge any of them while working on it since HP's documentation isn't all that forthcoming about case to motherboard cabling. Depending if you are a novice at this, you may be able to puzzle out some of "this cable goes there" but nothing beats reference photos when you aren't sure. -
Quote:Looks like it's clear. Is that combo an option that my PC will be able to handle? The eVGA GTX 560 is 8.25 inches long at is two slots wide for the entire length. It's shorter than the motherboard (9.6") and looking at internal pictures of your system, the only problem that could exist would be if something tall is sticking up off the motherboard under the space the video card will occupy and I can't tell that from the photos.

Quote:Are there any mid-range cards that I should be looking into, or is my PC only suited for the lower-end cards? I'm looking at the Anttec BP550 plus 550W as a replacement PSU, and I'm also looking at the EVGA GTX560 card.Maybe at low enough resolution at minimal UM settings but generally not, assuming you prefer greater than 30fps walking around in a zone.
Back when they first introduced UM, they suggested that the 512MB 8800GT/9800GT had the minimum graphics horsepower needed for minimum UM settings (but no info on resolution or what framerate they thought was acceptable). Using that as guide then you are looking at either the GTS 450 or GTX 550Ti as the two "current" low end nVidia cards that could support UM turned on.
Of course your millage may vary, everyone has different thresholds of what is an acceptable balance between framerate, resolution and "pretty". Some experimentation to find that balance with whatever you get is required. -
Thanks, guys! I had already planned on upgrading the power supply. Two more quick questions: Will the Nvidia GT 440 run ultra mode, and if so, which particular model am I looking for? I noticed several different versions of that card.

Hi all
Been away for around a year, looking to get back into it. I've just inherited a HP p6733w AMD Phenom II X 2 511 processor 3.40 GHz with a integrated Radeon HD 4200 graphics card. I'm wondering what I could switch to in the way of a Nvidia card that can run the game smoothly with nice graphics. I don't mind investing a few hundred if that's what it takes. Any ideas? Thanks for any info! -
And apparently I put this in the wrong forum. Any chance it can be moved, or should I just start over?

300 & Watchmen were kickass flicks. I have no reason to believe that Suckerpunch will be any different.
-
Passing on any "death of" storylines. The shock value is growing stale, Quesada.
-
Watchmen, Iron Man 1&2 and Serenity. I suggest watching the Firefly series on blu-ray before Serenity, though. Good stuff.
-
Well, here's my take: At least they're doing something. How many of you can say that?

These retards needed a study to come to this conclusion? I need to find out where these guys find the funding for common sense studies, I'm looking to start one that will prove that cats are bad for folks with cat allergies.

Quote:If you can find the sentence where I quoted the process as being "evil", feel free to post it. Blind indeed.I'd agree with you if this remake had NOTHING to do with the original author.
But in this case this remake was basically WRITTEN by the original author.
Hard to be mad at him if he wanted an opportunity to make American movie money. As I said I had NEVER even heard of the original. Now I'm likely to buy the original movie and novel to read. I'd say that's a win for John Lindqvist.
Stop being so blind to these things to automatically assume "remake = evil".
Sure -most- of them are, but not all. *shrugs* -
Quote:It's definitely a bad thing if it leads to more remakes. If filmmakers can't come up with original ideas, they should get new jobs. Heck, anybody can "re-imagine" another individual's idea. The true talent of a great many filmmakers these days is the ability to sucker consumers into paying to view the same movie twice. As I said "Let Me In" was good enough that I'm now genuinely interested in seeing the original to see how it actually compares. For what it's worth I never even heard of "Let the Right One In" until I started reading reviews of the remake. *shrugs*
I normally hate remakes because most of them do in fact suck. But again since the actual author of the original novel and screenplay was involved in this remake I have to think it's better than the typical remake "laziness" you describe. If the original is truly better "in every way" then I figure this Americanized version will only bring more fame and money to its author. I don't see that as a bad thing... -
These American remakes smack of pure laziness on the part of filmmakers here. Every other movie now is either a remake or a 3D film. That being said, Let The Right One In was better than the remake in every way.

Gotta be honest here, the way we treat things, I hope humans never inhabit another planet.

Megadeth - any CD with the exception of Risk.

Quote:You pretty much covered what I was about to reply with. The flashbacks were nauseating & everybody looked like they just got back from a Botox party. I won't waste another hour on this one.Hated this show for two reasons.
One, every character looked the same. They're all early thirty-somethings with great skin and hair. Even the president and all his advisors. They couldn't cast a single believably middle-aged person? It's like West Wing 90210.
But second and worse, they cut the narrative back and forth in time every two minutes. If I glanced away from the TV and back again, I didn't know if the story was in the past or the present. It's a horrible directing choice and the scriptwriter should be slapped.
I suspect that the narrative bouncing back and forth will become a signature of the series, and for that reason the secret will be all about time travel. I won't be watching it again to find out, though. -
Honestly? I thought it was crap. I'll be surprised if it goes beyond one season.

Quote:Folks like him because he has the stones (unlike Batman) to remove killers from the streets permanently. How many people has The Joker killed? And to make things worse, Batman has actually saved Joker from an early demise on quite a few occasions. Why not just let him die... is he really that popular? It's a guy in a black t-shirt with a large cross on it and he's carrying huge guns out to deliver vengeance on the guys that killed his family which he did already.
I've never understood why they keep going with him. He's done his thing and that should be that.
As far as saying Batman is like Punisher >.> Punisher is more or less a common thug. He's a well trained thug (as much as any american military person), but still a thug... a thug that does his thing in a t-shirt often without a plan and without motivation. Batman may have an "odd" costume but he and his crew are equipped and trained appropriately. They wear protection, have various equipment for recon and such and have training beyond that of the government. In the end Punisher is an idiot with a gun while Batman is a high tech military operative. Comparatively they don't stack up. If anything Batman is like a Green Lantern from a low tech planet.
Oh, and Frank doesn't have a young boy (that is constantly put in harm's way) as a sidekick. If Frank lived in Gotham, he would have had the city sorted out YEARS ago. -
I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they restart the series...
...with Deadpool thrown in. Seriously, how many friggin' titles does Deathstroke-lite need to be in anyway? -
I'm more interested in the next book than the HBO series. Seriously, your fans have been waiting forever for it.
