  1. I've always loved Dominators. I blame the fact that my first and only level 50 was a Brute, and Brutes are my favorite AT. Dominators are like Brutes who swap armor toggles for mez, keeping the amount of fun in the playstyle.

Highest I've gotten, sadly, was below 20 on a Grav/Nrg, who's deleted by now - I just can't come up with a concept that appeals to me! Lately I've become interested in creating a Fire/Fire Dominator... Possibly RP it as a member of the Hellions or something; I like creating villains that are/were members of existing factions.

Also, just about every imaginable name for a fire-themed character is taken by now, heh.

    Still, much love towards Dominators.
  2. Hm, that's odd. The only attack I knew that doesn't do double damage with Containment is Spectral Wounds, and that's only because it doesn't count the temporary damage portion that gets healed later, just the regular damage.
  3. Ninjas can be a challenging primary.

    Also, Poison ftw! (biased)

    Quick question.

    For the -acc resistance

[/ QUOTE ]So I'm good as long as I stay far away from any CoT.

    Thanks for the info, guys.
  5. Only got experience with Stone Melee up to level 20, but I'm pretty sure opening with Fault helps...
As Elec Melee I just Lightning Rod into the mob and they're all on their backsides, no alpha to worry about.

    Quick question.

I currently have 2 Acc SOs, 3 Dmg SOs and an Achilles Heel: -res proc in each attack.

    E/E epic

Epics are there to fill holes in your character's performance, not to add on to your primary secondary (although several powers do this also). Example: for Tankers and Scrappers, this would be ranged attacks and some control.
For Blasters this would mostly be survivability.
  8. I wouldn't really recommend /Elec as a tanking secondary myself, unless you've got some good buffage/healage going on. I play my Brute as more of a Scrapper/offtank, seems to work well. I don't have Taunt and don't really plan on ever taking it - Every single team I get in has at least 2 to 4 Brutes anyway, including myself. Someone else is probably /Stone or /Willpower.
Hell, up until not too long ago I didn't even have Tough... I have to say, the difference in damage taken isn't that noticeable when you first get it, but the next time you survive a pull gone bad with a thin red strip of HP you're gonna think "Damn, I would've died without Tough". Assuming you're fighting stuff that does a lot of physical damage, of course.

Though, if you can make your /Elec function well as a tank that doesn't underperform, by all means go ahead and do it. Tremor and Fault should help lots, especially with the ridiculously short recharge you can get on Tremor with Lightning Reflexes and Hasten.
  9. I'm just going to add an uneducated comment based on my own observations...

...are you sure the Force Feedback proc even -has- a buff icon? I'm asking because I know for a fact Build Up procs don't have buff icons, the only visible signs of the proc going off are a short spike in your damage or watching the numbers in Combat Attributes.

I'm not really experienced enough to give you reliable advice on the original question, though - Only MM I've gotten past level 16 or so is Thugs/Dark. I've -heard- that the FF proc still procs often enough to be highly useful, though, so slotting it into the AssBot might not be a bad idea... However, I'd try to get a more educated opinion.

    Quick question.

Will my Crab underperform without CT: Offensive?
I've got TT: Leadership for a team ToHit buff. CT: Offensive is a passive self-only Accuracy buff.
Not only have I heard that ToHit buffs are better than Accuracy buffs for actually hitting things, but TT: Leadership is also enhanceable, grants Confuse/Terrorize resistance and perception, as well as allowing ToHit sets to be slotted. Of course, being better is to be expected as it's a toggle, not a passive.

So, will I miss horribly without CT: Offensive or is it unnecessary with accuracy enhancements in my attacks combined with the ToHit toggle? Trying to save as many power choices as possible because VEATs just get too many attractive choices...
  11. I prefer Tough over Aid Self. Aid Self only really works best if you have an AoE disable (like Fault) because of the interruptibility, and when you're not the main tank. Mostly a solo tool in my humble opinion.

/Elec can make for a good Sapper build, but only when paired with Electric Melee (and Mu Mastery helps).
  12. I wonder if we'll be seeing similar principles applied to older powers to make perma-X more difficult to achieve?

[/ QUOTE ]Elec is a pure Resistance set.
  14. IM RIGHT YOUR WRONG

Some people (self included) like the Hazard Zones. I do hope they'll eventually add NPCs with story arcs and shops and whatnot to the ones that currently have none (Crey's Folly, Boomtown) but I was already disappointed when I entered the new Hollows with a friend and found the spawns noticeably smaller. In return we got a mini-hospital that saves 30 seconds of travel (useful but nothing to go OH WOW about), a new NPC that gives dull repeatable missions and a bunch of random Skulls/Hellions/Lost/etc. wandering around that are not even involved in any of the Hollows arcs. I'm not exactly sure, but did they even make Bosses spawn less often? If so, this also hits badge hunters.

I'm not trying to be whiny or bitter but I preferred the old Hollows. Just my opinion, 's all.

Edit: The good thing about hazard zones is that you have to keep on your toes otherwise you will die, dont want this feeling taken away from the game.

[/ QUOTE ]I have to admit that is what i am missing in the new hollows zone. It is to easy now. Gone are the days where reaching the mission was a bigger challenge then the mission itself.

    [/ QUOTE ]Ditto.
  16. Join a team, or at least duo with a Brute as often as possible.

    E/E epic

Bad? Redraw. You pull out an assault rifle whenever you use it.

I'm a fan of Force Mastery myself. Especially if you're Energy/Energy as it fits thematically.
  18. Mu has Power Sink, if you feel you need it.

Water Spout sould work similarly well as Tornado for Earth/Storm Trollers, I believe?

Soul Mastery has Dark Consumption, though Power Sink feels better as it's auto-hit.

All also have a ranged AoE or Cone attack if you feel you need it.
  19. Earth is by far my favorite Control set. It's extremely powerful, and the visual effects are easy to see, unlike for example Gravity. Stone Cages (take it!) + Stalagmites gives you a very sexy ghetto-hold. I've heard good things about Pooman too.
The amound of -def will also help your team much more than you might think.
Volcanic Gasses I haven't really seen myself, but I hear great things about it.

HardRider: Both for thematic and practical reasons I'd go for Fire Assault. VG already does Fire damage and you could easily create a volcanic-themed character this way. Also, Earth Control trades damage (it barely does any...) for, well, control (amazing). Fire would remedy the lack of damage.
  20. Mace Mastery models are AT-specific as far as I know. Masterminds have the TacOps mace, I think.

As the PPPs are virtually identical I'd really go for Soul Mastery because it looks good paired with /Dark, and Soul Storm just looks badass. You'd get pretty decent negative energy resists from Soul Mastery's res toggle and Shadow Fall, too.
Alternatively, Scorpion Shield gives +def, which would work nicely with the -ToHit from some /Dark powers, and the +def from Shadow Fall (and Maneuvers if you have it)
  21. It's a friggin' hi-tech backpack. Why shouldn't it be able to shoot both bullets and energy blasts? The Crab offensive tree is already both Lethal and Energy based.
And there's nothing to 'change' in the power, just the tooltip, Longfang has always shot bullets (short burst of 3 bullets) and bullets do lethal damage. The power already does lethal damage both for NPCs and players, it's just the tooltip that shows it as High Damage [Energy] instead of High DoT [Lethal].
  22. Lies, I enjoy the Hollows and Striga Isle. It's the regular zones that are boring because of crappy story arcs (any not many of those either) and boring contacts.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    There is no VEAT vengeance.

    [/ QUOTE ]Yeah there is.
  24. They could just fix the tooltip and description to say it shoots bullets and does a Lethal DoT. NPC Crabs do it so why shouldn't we?
  25. AoEs and Cones have only half chance to crit from Hide afaik.
