Well, the majority of that was the usual biased nonsense. Typical parents trying to blame the games and the gaming industry rather than themselves. How can they not notice when their son is playing games for 10-12 hours straight? Can't possibly be their fault, has to be WoW or Call Of Duty.
And nice how rather than put a human face on Blizzard, we just get text of what they said, clever de-humanizing tactics. -

Thing is, MMO's are inherently different to most games, due to the social aspect of it. A lot of the addiction people get to MMO's are due to the personal connection to people in it.
Saying that though, with the advent of voice comms in a lot of online games now, that's probably still relevant. -
Set my Sky box to record this. Will be interested to see if this is done in a reasoned manner or the usual scare-mongering. Panorama generally treat things fairly, I'm lead to believe, but sometimes their timing sucks.....*stares pointedly at the World Cup!*

A couple of years ago I had the idea of seeing if it was possible to get all the way from Lvl 1 to Lvl 50 without ever actually having visited a trainer and thus only ever being with lvl 1 slots and powers and created the character TurtleMan.
Sadly it died a death, mostly because I made him a tank which made it a veeeerrrrrryy slow journey soloing doe to low damage output taking forever
Anyway, I've decided to give it another go and re-rolled him on Defiant again (it was the only place I had a spare slot ) and am going to make the attempt again!
If anyone sees the tiny little hero tootling around Praetoria or Paragon, feel free to throw him a team invite, god knows he'll need it, but remember, he's not going to be a whole lot of use at all, but it should be fun, as he's, well......crazy
Still trying to decide if I should use things like the Vet Rewards for extra powers or just stay with the main Shovel attack, Brawl and the inherent power I get at lvl 1 or not.......any thoughts anyone? -

Just wanted to add an update to say that Rogues Radio is now an official supporter of the Real World Hero charity drive being organized by Mr Wentworth on these forums! Now is the time for the EU population of this awesome community to show how much it cares as well!

As it stands, the charity drive has already had donations from players on the Union server but nothing from Defiant yet! I'm sure that will be soon rectified though
Also, we are hoping to be able to donate a prize on the auction they are running as well, more news on that as it breaks! -

Er. Every time I watched Buffy (when nothing else was on the telly cause it was Sunday morning and I was stuck at work back then), wouldn't you know it, there was either emo Angel or emo Spike in it. Emo Angel, that I agree with, especially in the early days of the series before he lighten up a little, but the rest of the vampires were NOT the Emo, Sparkly Twilight nonsense! They used to just kill you and feed on you. So did Spike as well, come to that

My biggest hope for it, if it happens, is that they keep the vampires as they were in the series, you know, monsters that actually ripped your throat out and killed you, not the sparkly emo nonsense of the Twilight era.
And if they go that way with the cast of the likes of High School Musical, THAT I would love to see, Sharpay being turned and killing everyone in HSM, would be all kinds of awesomesawuce

Hmm, fair point, BBM. I'm in the EU so don't really get to see how the US networks work and what sort of fanbase you get as a result. In the UK a series usually gets shown in the correct order wiht the characters developing correctly, as opposed to what Fox did to Firefly, so the fans tend to get a show better here, in a way. It's difficult to see how large a fan base is in the US and I guess that's what the US movie makers go by.
I still think it's a ludicrous idea though and it's going to have to be whole new levels of awesome for the Buffy fans to like it

The original cast included Kristy Swanson, Hillary Swank, Rutger Hauer, Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens, Luke Perry and Donald Sutherland. Those actors are all a bit long in the tooth for the original concept now, so it would require a new cast.
But I agree with your sentiment: why remake a movie that was only made 18 years ago? I would guess that's why Whedon is not involved.
Especially if Whedon was writing and/or directing it

The difference here is that the Buffy show was incredibly popular at the time, ran for 7 seasons and had a 5 season spin off, not to mention a whole raft of extended universe stuff out there still selling. It's got a very big fanbase that are devoted to the man and they are the people that this should be aimed at.
Besides, Serenity may not have made much money but it's been very critically acclaimed, as was the Firefly series. He didn't get picked to direct the Avengers movie, arguably the biggest movie ever to come out of the Marvel stable in their movie history, for his good looks after all

"Oh no, we are about to end the Harry Potter franchise, we've got nothing to replace it and aren't sure if the DC Comics stuff will sell enough, what can we do!! Hey, Vampires are popular, lets bring back Buffy but without paying a fortune to Whedon and the cast!! Make it cheap. Make a billions dollars on it, EPIC WIN!!"
Daft thing is, if they paid the money for getting Whedon and Gellar and co back for it, it's would be so freaking huge at the cinema! -

Supes being killed was a shock and wasn't, for all the reasons stated already.
People unused to the comic book world were shocked, they killed Superman! OMG!! Comic book fans like us all knew he'd be back. What impressed me was that they did it and left it for a fair while before bringing him back. A lot of people were all like "They'll never do it, it's a fake out" and then they killed him, even after all the press about it. I really enjoyed it all
More of a shock to me was the Crisis stuff, killing the Flash and Supergirl! Flash caught me well off guard, but then I was only 13 at the time
Shame we can't add gaming shocks to this list, Aeris caugh me completely flatfooted!

Rogues Radio Halloween Weekend
A few things worth bringing to your attention this weekend that are a little "Out of the norm" from regular weekend sets, all for Halloween!
On Friday DJ Star and DJ Terrahawk will be bringing you all the horror related tunes as they stream LIVE from City of Heroes Halloween Ball on both the Defiant and Union servers. Their dual set starts at 7pm and they can be found in Pocket D.
On Saturday DJ Coin will be turning his Rock Zone into a special Vampire Rock Zone! No, not the sparkly nonsense, were talking real vampires with all the music coming from the shows Buffy and Angel! No Glittering Allowed! Tune in at 10pm as always!
And on Sunday, there's to be a Halloween Musical Spectacular, brought to you by our resident evils Fishy and Knighty. That's right, it's an all singing, all dancing (they assured me there was much dancing going on while it was being recorded) Fishy and Knighty version of War of the Worlds. Titles "War of the Hypno Animals!"
Intrigued? Then make sure you tune in at 10pm on Halloween night (Sunday) to find out what this is all about.
