Atlas may have a lot of stupidity in it, but it still kinda feels like home despite that. Galaxy feels like I've been sent away to boarding school.
    QFT. Atlas every time.

Disclaimer: Unless I'm going with some sort of dark loner character who prefers to be in a badly-lit, brick-filled pollution setting. Then it works. Just about.

You could add multiple ways for it to be acomplished. Not everyone can just catch the plane.

And by the same token. I'd like my villains to be more proactive in the same way. Cause dissasters and such. Hey, maybe they could even be competitive. Inditect PvP where villains can cause dissasters on the hero side that heroes can fix. Similar to the LGTF causing Rikti invasions
From what I can remember off-hand, the only mission that doesn't involve a) punching things in the face, b) clicking on objects or c) talking to people (often before punching them/others in the face) are the Fire Alarm missions.

If villains could do missions to collect petrol, matches, services of a pyromancer, etc, and upon completion set a building on fire that heroes had to put out... that'd be better instead of just $randomZone Fire Alarm Sounded!

It might work both ways, consider the warning text redside, upon completion of a suitable heroic mission blueside:

'Orphanage has been built in Sharkhead Isle!'

Implict in there is to punch orphans in the face, but mostly about destroying the building.
  3. Pacs had to admit it, there was something about watching a man's rippling muscles within the close-fitting confines of heroic spandex that made her think this hero lark was worthwhile all on its own.

Dressed in a simple pair of light blue jeans, with a white tank top and thin light green hoodie with her hair in a pony tail behind her head, she thought she could probably have picked the large car up on her own, though whether she could have done it one-handed with enough ease to shake hands with the other was something she'd not tried yet. She certainly wouldn't have looked as impressive as the man-mountain who was reaching under the chassis to lift it up. Camera poised, Pacs zoomed in to auto-focus on the excellent photo opportunity.

Flashes went off all around them and some of the fans applauded. Pacs looked over her LCD screen, thinking something wasn't quite right with the scene, but she dismissed it. Hitting the correct button on her camera, she reviewed the picture she'd just taken. She was no photographer, to be sure, but was pleased with it.

As the cosplayers wallked past, she quickly pointed her silver compact digital camera at the ground, knowing enough about costumes already not to need the 'How Not To...' lesson that the two fans were unavoidably giving.

Spandex was one option for a costume, though, and she took a quick picture of the impressive-looking States-a-like, towering above a young woman who he was talking to, evidently trying to get away from her as quickly as possible.

It's a great feeling when you've leapt for 200 yards and land just right on a roof, air con unit, ledge or wherever, and leap off again into the wide blue yonder.

And you always think 'That was perfect, did someone else see that?'
  7. Taking one of her days off from working at the Vault Reserve, Patricia Martin was doing some research. Looking like just every other fan who wasn't dressed up, she was taking pictures of the heroes and heroines in their costumes and getting a few autographs from those who offered - she wasn't quite confident enough yet to be flat out asking for them from the heroes that she would, hopefully, soon be one of.

She was looking at the shape, the cut, the colours and the design of real hero outfits. There was only so much that internet research could do, and the fleeting glimpses of capes flashing past at the speed of sound, off to rescue some innocent bystander, was no help at all. Soon Patricia - Pacs to her friends - would be getting out there and clobbering bad guys like there was no tomorrow.

The convention was a riot of colour, save for the group who had come as shocktroopers. It was either a group of well-organised fans, or some PR stunt. Pacs ignored them and carried on taking pictures of the heroines' costumes. She was leaning towards white and green, to complement her dark complexion, but she'd see what sort of designs came to mind when she got him.

The official Longbow stand drew her attention, as defeating Arachnos was a worthy cause in anyone's book, so she wandered over to get some information from them.

I'm not sure if I'm randomly taking offence on behalf of the NRG2 Blasters, but those who tend to aggro everything and wipe the entire team either learn quickly (from experience or helpful players along for the ride) or don't get teams and go off doing their own thing. we're not all like the spoiled brat I'm-blasting-everything-in-sight, tank-aggro-stealing types that I'm getting (inferred or otherwise) from your post - YMMV of course.

Part of the teaming experience is that other players can tell you how best to complement their skills. 'Don't use knockback powers, that makes my tank useless', or 'could you only aggro mobs you can kill by yourself', or whatever. It comes from experience, trial and error, that players know how to behave in fights.

The way I team my NRG2 Blaster now is very, very different to how he was teamed in Sewer PUGs, as I'm sure most people's are. This is because of experience and learning how to meld by guy with the myriad of other archetypes and powersets there are available. Currently lvl 43 and learning every time I team
  9. I've found NRG/NRG to be quite fun (particularly as it's my main toon), and the knockback is the best way of soloing in groups where your glassy cannon would quickly be overwhelmed, and sending mobs flying left, right and centre while you clean up is a much cooler feeling than just standing there and hitting one thing after another while they all club you over the head.

In a team, KB needs to be used far more deliberately as it can be very annoying for everyone else. I tend to use it only when going for 'my' target, or if someone's in need of a respite from being smacked in the face, or if a particular boss ability needs delaying. Otherwise running round like a headless chicken sending every mook flying and them all aggroing you is a good recipe for being ganked.

All in all, I play NRG/NRG because it looks cool and is pretty effective.

Personally I don't think you have to worry about anyone jeering CoR accept those that simply have an axe to grind about 'something' with regards City of Heroes/Villains.

    <snip>

Even if it's just the two new powersets, Praetoria (however many zones it may be) and the ability to switch sides, Going Rogue will probably still be a success. If there's more to it than that, say a graphical overhaul and Power customisation, then I predict it will have exceeded my expectations and probably everyone elses.

    ^^ This ^^

All of the above, even the snipped bit, I completely agree with.

Anyone think they'll do the graphical overhaul in time for/with Rouge? Positron mentioned in an interview that they have a team working on it.

    i15 Update

Everyone is invited to the 'closed' beta, therefore it's not closed, as it's wide open.

GF says there is no closed beta, which is then true. Sorta.

As nomenclature differences in this game from the rednames goes, that's pretty much on the lowest of the low scales, and I don't think you can derive "ZOMG THE DEVS DON'T SPEAK TO EACH OTHER!' from it at all.
  18. More of a sound and light show associated with it too, rather than just a groan, crossing of eyes and collapse to the floor in a heap.
