Hmm, I am working on an arc sort of in this vein - don't know if it will meet your specs but the gist is that a group of Live Action Roleplayers (LARPs) have gone a tad crazy and brought their gaming to a whole new level.
I am still in the creation stages, testing each level so far has been fun; I just don't know if it will fit in with what you want as it doesn't put you into an Medieval RP story more than it puts you in the middle of a bunch of RPG folks who got a little too into it.
If interested I'll post the Arc ID when I have it fleshed out some more and published. -
I get where the OP is going, but I would have to vote 'nay' on this one. You would be trading one form of 'griefing' (one star without playing or comment) for another form (quitting arcs just to raise the attempts vs completion ratio).
It also would make it difficult to let the creator know if they need to work on the arc to get it better, where they need improvement, etc (for example, I was in an arc that I couldn't complete due to the custom mob type but I gave a 4 star for the story line, and a constructive feedback message; I wouldn't be able to do that under the OP's suggested system because almost guaranteed most people would turn this option on to 'force' players to experience the whole shebang) -
Maybe if it was an MA toggle option (under a currently non-existant MA Settings tab) to where you could choose to appear in Architect costumes (per mission basis) or not - that I might get behind.. but it takes me a while sometimes to come up with a costume that 'works'.. and I really don't like the idea of someone elses design sense trumping my own (however horrible my own is)

hey quick question, since pubised arch ar limited to 3, and i assume this is account level what about locals? can i swap out missions between local and publish so i can have more then 3 in a broad sense or is local similary limited
[/ QUOTE ]
AFAIK Local is unlimited so you could swap out arcs if you wanted; bear in mind though that unpublishing an arc will lose all ratings on that arc. -
I think that if you edit and republish an arc with autosave turned on you get an autosave file on your computer with the mission details - custom mobs probably won't be saved though :/.
If you get the autosave file after republishing then you can edit it and save it under its normal name. -

I am wondering how/when I can unlock (or find) certain items for collections? Is there a list or some sort of requirements for certain items? Are items limited by map type?
For Example: In a mission I am creating I want to have a computer desk that has information to download; The map is one of the abandoned warehouse maps but I can't find any normal computer in the collectables section - the only computers are 2 Arachnos computers and 1 Rikti computer; none of those work for that idea.
Any help would be appreciated.

Check wall collectibles. There are desks with computers and laptops on top.
As an added bonus they'll be as worn-down as the surroundings.
[/ QUOTE ]
Aha - thanks! Didn't think to look for a computer in the wall collection :/ -

Also, a question on local storage... phenomenah:
I have only one arc I am working on at the moment - I have auto save turned on because I have had an issue with being DC'd before work was saved (my bad I know). The thing is that in my 'Local' storage tab it shows 2 arcs as being present - both the same arc but one with the file name 'autosave' the other with the proper file name; Is this normal? Does the auto save create a new file? That kinda defeats the purpose since if you are losing work due to a DC you will have to open one file and save it as the other file (my mindset at work, may confuse myself).
Anyone else seeing this? -
I could use some feedback on an arc in progress, I have been fooling around with a custom critter group that I plan on having a pretty big story on; This group is introduced as a cameo in the MA mission below (they are fighting the skulls in an office), I need to get opinions on their makeup, ability, description (in 'Info'), etc. They are tougher than the skulls I know for sure, the battle I came across was over before it started :/ - need to know if this translates into fighting other heroes too (Tested on a 12 Elec/Elec with little to no issue).
Arc says Defeat All but it is really just clear all of the last room - there is an optional glowie clue as well that adds some more flavor.
Arc 72565: Informatino Disruption
Creator: @Clorius
Length: Short - 1 mission as it stands now
Morality: Hero
Map: 2 Floor Office Map (standard Hero set #7)
Description: A high level Skulls contact has gone missing disrupting the flow of information to the PPD. You have been called on because of your reputation... but is there more to meets the eye on this case?
Level Range 1-14 (got info on making custom Skulls that I will use for later missions)
I will review one of your arcs in a little bit, doing a humor arc right now -

Edited for typo -
Take it easy Lighthouse, sorry to see you go; There have been some rough spots in the road you have traveled with us but you rode out the bumps just fine.
I wish you luck with your future endeavors. -

I'm surprised the new costume piece wasn't an Apple chest logo.
no, seriously. If you think I'm joking, you haven't met any Mac people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ooohh - I could see that..
Maybe they could do that and have a head-piece that is an apple stem; combine that with a new power 'Throw Seeds' and we can have fruit trees allover Paragon!
*ducks*
I have nothing against Mac gamers... (all 5 of you.... j/k j/k)
-
Well, at first I thought I had entered some sort of Nega universe where everything was off by a few degrees of sanity... then I saw that Angry_Citizen was still angry
and that it was just a move to broaden the horizon. Good move NCSoft!
I have always had qualms about offering 'goodies' to get people to buy something... Special stuff for Mac users is kind of an odd way to go; it is good to make them available in the future as a goody pack though.
All in all my disjointed mind says 'Good!'.. now...
Wheres that Linux Port???? Y'all are already working w/ TransGaming.... come on now! -
*Pops out of lurker haven*
While it will take some getting used to, I think the move will be much better in the long run. vB boards can do a whole lot more, interactivity wise, than the UBB and are much easier on the hardware.
Anything that shows continued support and willingness to improve the game and community is a good thing in my eyes -
Wow - first Lord of the Rings Online announces a new race of super chickens, now CoH is going to have visual sounds?! What a year!
-
Wow - looking good!

Wow - amazing thread; It is nice to see the City has been going strong on the good beat whilst I have been out of touch - it warmed my heart to read this thread [even when I couldn't yet post a reply].
Kudos to the OP -
Nice to see those options come into play finally
To those worried about RMT.. well people have their character data in their signatures already right? They have characters on SG websites, tracking websites, and a bunch of other places... how will this option change anything? Time to forget the tinfoil hat for once and just focus on the fact that NCSoft is going to bring a pretty good idea to the table. The much maligned WoW has the Armory and it hasn't increased RMT to specific characters.. I do not think that this option will be any different; especially since you have the option of turning off that data. -

Just wow...
1. Devs have lives, homes, and roots in their current communities so there is no guarentees they will move with the project.
2. If enough designers dont move this could mean sad news for the project.
3. The move for cryptic makes perfect sense from a buisness sense to me at least.
4. Depending on how corporate NCSoft makes things and who if any dont come to the new studio will determine if I stay subscribed.
I am patient and can wait but not forever.

Read closer - the City of Franchise development team has moved with the game in majority (Minus Statesman). -
Wow.. this honestly made me do a double take.
I am hoping for good things to happen with the game under new management, to Statesman & Cryptic I wish good luck in future Endeavors. To those Devs staying with us I say: "Thanks, and HA! You fell for the bait and are trapped! Muahahaha"
*ahem*
Kinda nervous to see what will happen in the future, but I trust NCSoft won't let anything too bad happen - it is a successful game after all.
(Please though.. DO NOT integrate the NCSoft Launcher with this game! Please Please Please Please! I know the chances are slim that y'all will.. but I got tired of it with TR beta, I am tired of it with DR, and I can't run the launcher under Linux)

yah... DoD can be that way >.<
[/ QUOTE ]
O.o - yeaaahh.. DoD systems tend to be a tad strict(On the carrier when we were at sea they would limit us to certain websites and only in one part of the ship during a couple of hour period. During Enduring Freedom even that was stopped cold).
What ya need to do is get some fresh baked stuff and bribe a system admin - that usually works well

They should probably be an ambush spawn anyway, just to prevent them from hanging out at the doorway if the opener runs off. Have 'em give chase until the opener's ToT timer resets, then despawn.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that would be pretty harsh on stalkers, and possibly a lot of masterminds as well. Any ambush targeted on a character removes much of a stalker's fighting ability.

Aye, ambushes see through Hide and ignore BodyGuard on MM's -
So on my petit Katana/SR scrapper on Virtue tonight I took down Eochai twice (That is always fun
), and then knocked on a few doors on my way to a misison. Results:
4 Doors: 4 Costume Temp Powers, 4 Large Inspirations. Talk about a good run of luck (better than last year for me). The costumes are all.. huge compared to my character though - they increase the height by about 2 ft and the bulk by a considerable amount. The Goldbricker Costume is perfect for hiding the SafeGuard Jump Pack power behind though - it looks like the jetpack part of it is spouting the flame when jumping -

The Halloween Event sounds great, I'm glad their doing pretty much the same thing as last year (forgot to get some of the badges/extra costume slot on my main character).
I'm not sure if this has already been asked and answered, but if someone recieved the extra costume slot last year on Halloween, can they get ANOTHER extra costume slot this year? Probably not, but just checking.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes (I think it was answered 'up thread' as well). The salvage for this extra slot will be dropping again when the event goes live (or, in the spirit of the holiday.. 'UnLive'.. yah yah.. shoot me for bad puns). The NPC's for it will remain in place even after the event 'dies' (get it? dies? Halloween? Bah...
)
