  1. I started a central electric blaster thread here if anyone is inclined to use it.
  2. Howsabout we swap Gravity Distortion Field and Dimension Shift in the order of availability for Gravity Control powers? Having GDF a little earlier would help close the control gap and let us get some slots into it before Stamina pops up to hog slots.
  3. I'm not sure how they would go about improving on it, since the problems with end drain do not reside in the powers but in the characteristics of the mobs themselves. 'S why I thought it might be useful to tack on something else that's still thematic and would be useful.
  4. I guess this means no one likes the % chance toggle drop idea.
  5. As long as the thread is here, how about adding % chance to toggle kill as an additional secondary effect of electric attacks?

Smack 'em with an electric blast and:
<ul type="square">[*]Do some damage[*]Drain some end / futz up end recovery[*]X% chance of toggle drop[/list]
It wouldn't be useful against every mob, but there are plenty of mobs where it would be nice to have an effect like that on your blasts.

If this is to control PL, I put this in the arena bin: making changes that DO affect me for something that DOESN'T affect me.

    Amen.
  7. Maybe I've been married too long, but I think the ending was sweet.
  8. Since it doesn't appear to have been done yet, I created a channel for Champion players to report monster sightings. It's cleverly named "ChampionMonsters".
  9. Man, I tried to get to the video at eight o'clock in the morning and the bandwidth limit was still exceeded.

Is there someone with a little extra hosting space who could mirror it?

Type 2 PL'ers have played since Beta and have a neat new hero they want to try. The power they want to try/test is a level 32 one. They PL to 32 and then go on thier merry way, playing the game like everyone else. They don't hurt anything, in fact they help a lot of people in a lot of ways, we'll come back to them later.

I happen to agree with the above quote, but perhaps P/L'ing to level 32 just to try a build is the wrong way to do so. Put in a Virtual Reality station with SimStim (TM) technology so that for a modest amount of influence, your hero can jack himself into a VR station that presents an instanced mission, with an archetype and level selected to "play". Not to go all "13th floor" on this, but the sim within the game would allow those players who have played enough to earn some influence an opportunity to try out other builds, other powers, and even possibly, a quicker respec test environment. This might ammeliorate some of your type 2 players from leaving, and might actually make some players more dedicated to a "nerfed build" knowing what they are capable of in the future.

Now that is a good idea!

    # The overall range for a group could be constricted so that everyone has to be within 12 levels to get xp, s'/k or not
    # The level range could shrink after level 40, because you have to wind up playing your character SOMETIME

Speaking as an altoholic, I desperately hate even the thought of either of these ideas. The ability to sidekick up with whomever I like allows me, the altoholic, to hang out with my friends who like to focus on one or two characters and still have fun. It's also what allows my supergroup (now my coalition) to remain coherent. Sidekicking is this game's great innovation. Let's just leave it alone, shall we?

Perhaps my problem is that simply don't get this fixation on who's earning how much XP by doing what. I just play this game for fun, and I am therefore less than willing to sacrifice my fun to curtail someone else's XP follies. It feels like some people treat this game like it's a job and they just found out the guy in the next cubicle has a higher salary.
  12. I'm curious to know if the devs have considered lowering the recharge time on Gravity Distortion Field. It seems to me that Gravs lean on their AoE hold more heavily than other sets with more AoE control options, and as a consequence the long AoE hold recharge time is more burdensome to Gravity than anyone else.

    I got 20 out of 21.

I am also sad to report that I got several before I looked at the list of choices, like Namor...

Welcome to Paragon City, where you can be a mercenary.
  17. I actually wish they'd put more focus on the content. Outside of story arcs, the story to me tends to fall pretty heavily by the wayside, and even in story arcs, it's pretty optional. One "save the hostage" mission tends to run into another after a while, and it's often hard for me to care whether or not the absolutely identical glowy you're clicking is a weather control device this time around instead of a dimensional stabilizer... I'm not saying I don't like missions. I'm just saying whatever story the missions are meant to represent is often lost.

The story, what there is of it, seems to me to largely come up in the before mission briefing and the post-mission laugh-before-fade-out type comments your contacts give, with a little hint of it in whatever the named Boss chimes in during this iteration. But, y'know, a lot of the time people (I, at least) just skim for the green text and whether or not there's a timer, especially if you're in a team and people are waiting... people who can't see the text you're reading, too. You can't even right-click on a mission and hit Info to see the mission briefing. It's one-stop content shopping, and once you're out the door, they lock it on you.

They need some way to really emphasize the story. It's too bad they can't work in some demo-type version of cutscenes somehow. I know that's a bit difficult when you're working multiplayer like this, but wouldn't it be nice if, when you go into a room where the archvillain is supposed to be concocting some maniacal device or what have you, he's actually directing minions in its construction instead of standing motionless like a mannequin? Wouldn't it be nice if you had to stop, say, Dr. Vahzilok from clicking four glowies to turn on his Magico-Scientific Rutabaga Machine? Or Nemesis soldiers from getting to the alarm switches that would alert the station to your presence?

They already have something like this with the Paladin, where the idea is to stop it being built, not beat it; if you let the little buggers construct the Paladin, you still get to stomp it... but you're too late for the badge. So they can work out systems like this using the game engine, right?

I think it'd help add a little more atmosphere to it. The new map backgrounds help emphasize the story, but it'd be nice to get the mobs into the action, too.

For all the ppl saying the 1 hour timer for this mission will make it too hard because of the AV really need to try the mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh sure, its easy if you herd them up...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Which kind of implies the mission is easiest to complete for the people that had the least interest in actually finishing this mission.

Seriously, we're not all burn tankers and regen scrappers. Even ignoring the AV, wolves can do nasty things to us squishy types, and the map is a Perez-type outdoorsy one, which is easy to lose stragglers in. I don't see why making the mission timer two or so hours would hurt the intended goal of the timer, and it would make life easier on the sub-l33t.

Also, on the True Gamer comments, everyone knows that the True Gamers split into the Orthodox Gamers of the Scripted Plot and the Reformed Gamers of the Crunched Number after the Great Schism of Universal Gamerhood.

    Infernal

Same here. Did the Infernal mission twice last night, with no Infernal and no demon portal. Kind of disappointed.
  23. It would be very nice for members of the Supergroup to be able to include at least some alts without those counting against the SG cap. Multiple characters from the same account should only count once against the SG cap.
  24. I don't remember if I posted my supergroup in here or not, but I'll go ahead and do so anyway.

Lines of Force is an intentionally small and somewhat selective supergroup of adult evening players counting a number of level 50 characters (none of which are mine *cough* altitis *cough*). Instead of expansion, we have focused on the availability of a close-knit team of good players who know each other well and are regularly on. Many of us are now on RL first-name bases.

Core members that have not wandered off to newer games include but due to my Swiss cheese memory are likely not limited to myself, Torch Golem, Netik, Electro Hipster, El Fuego Grande (aka Frick), Serf, Mel Phiston, and Rathor.

Alts are not only permitted to join the SG, they are encouraged, because if they weren't, we'd never know who the heck was on at any given moment. And this is another reason we often use our real first names...

We do not do open recruiting. Invites are only proffered after a good teaming experience with an existing member.

A representative sample of our SG colors and symbol is linked here.
  25. I expect to get misidentified as an electric blaster or defender on a regular basis, but the name was too cool to pass up.
