Phase.
Don't forget phase. Forget about the temp power imo. Your primary role is disruption with webnades, surveillance and the -res in SA. If you move well & maximize jump damage then evade, you can find a useful role on most teams zonewise. Remember Cloak + a stealth IO will help against those who aren't running a high amount of +percept (most people do, but you'd be surprised that not EVERYONE will see you).
If you can manage the top tier procs in Shatter & Mace Blast and get your recharge above 60% global, you'll do fine. -
How the eff is this thread over half a million views???

I'm not sure if I should be embarassed or excited that someone in that vid had on a "HI" shirt. =|
O and where'd you Gaddy? -
Can eyez join too Con?
@Lite of Paragon & @Dark Daimyo -
Are these the Glad Aromor +3 Defese? Because there are Glad Strikes and Glad Jav's as well when you say "gladiator" procs. But the +3's are the only ones going for 2bil these days.
Just for clarification. -

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there in Justice land.

Quote:This was mentioned in another thread, where some one said they ended up buying a Pan Soil for 1.5 billion. It was a case where they probably bid 1.5 mil on the pan soil and retrieved it, then went to buy a common salvage for 100, typed it in and clicked bid without realizing they just added 3 digits to the back of 1,500,000.Finally, the persistent last inf bid is dangerous. If you're buying a bunch of stuff, go low to high. Last thing you want to do is bid 100M on a purp recipe, then decide to buy a Inanimate Carbon Rod and forget to reset the price. Wipe the last bid price please, or at least give us the option to.
That right there sucks huge melons. This needs to be fixed IMO. -
o snap!
Thank you Smurph for answering that. -

Quote:You and I are on the same thought here Pum. You said it perfectly with "the optics don't look right." It seems slanted by default, not by anyone's innocent actions. I know Reetta well enough to know that she is honest and forthright. I DO NOT find fault in anyone, especially if the rules do not specify so. But, although you and I do not care for the prizes, that does not mean others will not feel slighted. If I was hoping to win a prize I'd be a bit peeved if a team did it and claimed all the top prizes. Whether it happened or it didn't sometimes the bitterness will be there just because the optics don't look right.
Kinda like being second in line for tickets and then the guy in front of you lets in 7 of his friends before the sales open up.
*Devil's Advocate*
I compare it to a sales add that says: "compete for 3 brand new cars...and "you" show up to give it your best and look around and your "competitor" happened to bring 4 friends & family to win 1 car." That might pass off as okay in my book, having me saying to myself "I wish I thought of that". But what happens if said family walks away with all 3 cars? How will that look? Again...the optics of it.
However, I must completely agree with Cassie here and say this should not bring down the fun within the event itself. So what if some peeps walked away with 1bil, 1000 merits, & 5 LotG's. Grats to them. I'm not upset over it and no one should because it is Cai's event alone to pass judgement. Can we learn from this? Yes. Should we be celebrating Cai's effort and creativity with this? Hells ya. Should fun be emphasized above all else? Always. -
Quote:I would like to take the time to say that this was an unbelievable creation on your part. Really awesome. The process, the suspense, the clues and riddles, everything was great about it.Things are fine the way they went. It was too late into the design process when I realized that it would be a good idea to state in the rules that this be done solo. In the future I would purposefully build in a way to handicap teams and reward solo play before making such a rule that, ultimately, is impossible for me to enforce.
All in all what I really hope is that people had fun today. I will continue to monitor this thread and payout to the winners accordingly. I will also be back to point out some clues that maybe some of you missed that can help prod you along before you die tomorrow at Noon hehehe.
And don't worry I didn't take anything you said as disparaging or an insult.
Regardless of the outcome, everyone should appreciate you putting this together.

Quote:Cai, I am not refuting your efforts and generosity. Nor am I insulting anyone. This is your "baby" and by all means, please run it the way you see fit. If the way you intended this game to run is around the the specific time sets you provided, then nothing can be done and I understand that. However, my thought would be to freeze the sign up period as intended, and those that made the sign up run this next sunday at 12n EST with a balanced ruleset. Maybe the toxin takes 1 week and 48 hours to do its dirty deed and gives the "player" time to contemplate their existance...idk.I don't even want to get into the amount of time it takes to set something like this up, but if you believe that it is something I can just throw together in a week you are unfortunately sadly mistaken.
As it stands now there is still a very good prize up for grabs for everyone else who completes the antidote part of this contest. The 200 million offer is per person, not 1 prize. Simply put, if you successfully complete it you will win 200 million guaranteed.
I hope this seems fair enough for those who may have been unknowingly handicapped.
The disparity widens when the glowies themselves are 2 minutes or so (a guess), and there is ecorting involved. A competent team of 5 can have 4 people clicking glowies and 1 escorting. Thats a severe handicap for a soloist IMO.
My intent isnt to disparage anyone. Like I said, it was a mere oversight. If the "game" cannot be started again next week, so be it. -
Quote:Technically, you could run a "do over" next weekend while adjusting the rule to specifically say no teams OR teams allowed. And although you still would not be able to enforce said rule, I HONESTLY believe everyone is honorable in this event. It was a mere oversight and no one is to blame if they didnt know. While I was in it for the fun, not the prizes, I can see how this could definitely irritate some people.Aww don't give up yet. I designed this to be solo'd. Honestly I don't have any rules about teams because it is impossible for me to enforce. I do these to provide a fun alternative to the every day grind of the game. I know it isn't as much as one of the grand prizes, but you can still win 200 million influence by finding the 3 parts needed for the antidote.
You can doo eeet!
Having 10+ people efforting solo, with no help & coming up empty, then having the 3 people that teamed claimed the top 3 prizes is a little much. But thats just my opinion. -

If this is a timed game...I'm hoping it starts from when the specific player enters the mission. Because 12n EST is 6am for me...on a Sunday morning. I'm lucky if I'm showered and in bed by 3am, which happens to be 5 hours from now. =)

Quote:HOLY SH*T!!!Just wanted to give a little shoutout to any Hawaiians who might be reading this. I'm a kama'aina from Nuuanu valley, so aloha from Paragon HQ!
A redname from Nu'uanu Valley?!?!?
My wife teached briefly at Ma'e Ma'e elementary a few years back. That's crazy.
Im a ha-y-n/pocho originally from "upcountry" Maui but moved to Oah'u. Which is why I say "Maui Built" "Oahu Grown". Guarans only the islanders know what I'm talking about. If I were you, Id rather have a Rainbow's or Zippy's, but I guess a L&L will do. I dunno if they get the sauces quite right up there, but a good old loco moco is hard to foul up. But hey, at least you have In & Out.
Wow. Im still shocked. Paragon's not so big a place after all. Glad to meet you D-Nak.
BTW..since I have your attention, might I ask you to put in a word to the team to fix PvP please? We have a list of the powers bugged in the PvP section. Removing travel suppression and heal decay in zones would be awesome too. Oh and elusivity for banes! That's not to much to ask is it?
A hui hou! -

Quote:Finally someone shows up to describe what I've been talking about between rich and wealth. Rich sux. Thank you to Barrier for putting it more eloquently.Lets just say I have about 40 sets of Apocs slotted between villains and heroes and another 7 sets sitting in my base. I have about 30 Gladiator Javelin Chance for Toxic Procs, 60 Luck of the Gamblers and 40 Miracle Procs. Then there are 3 bins that are full (purples and PvP IO's).
Between cash on hand, characters, bins and market bids, my total value is roughly 700-800 billion. Most of you guys are probably thinking BS!! There are enough eBil people in this thread that knows me who can vouch otherwise
I make quite a bit of my money on random blind bids across multiple toons. Patience and lots of capital = several billion profit every week. -
Quote:I remember those days. It was at this time, right before they changed the PvP IO drop rate (and added the fix so people like myself and Mac couldn't duel box our accounts in arena 30 min matches with our MMs to farm PvP IOs), that I bought up all the proc's I could knowing the price was gonna skyrocket. I think I managed to get a total for both CoH/CoV: 17 or so Glad Javs, 7 Pana's HP/+End, 4 or 5 Glad Strike's, 3 Glad Armors (these were and are still the hardest to get) and I think 5 Shield Walls. I can't recall if that is exact but I know those numbers are close to what I horded back then. All of that is now either slotted into my characters or long sold to fund a build.I remember selling a +3% def piece for 600 mil and thinking that was a lot (because, well, it was at the time).
As far as how much I have...well Smurphy puts it best with his sig saying "Wealth is Subjective." All I can say is that like Barrier, Mac, Smurph and the rest...our money makes money. We'll never go broke because we have equity and the ability to always make more. One 15bil build doesnt side track wealth. It will however turn rich into poor overnight.
