  1. I should clarify that I empathize with STA's and 0utcazt's situation as should most because the point system was flawed.
But at this point, I also think most would agree with me in hoping this league doesn't fragment itself to were it falls apart.

That should be everyone's focus right now. People are too concerned about placement, points, ties, healer limits, winning, etc at the expense of the league. Let's make sure we have a league to play the next 11 weeks.
  2. Stormie-

I love the effort. No matter how this event goes off, use it as a foundation to build for further events. You might not get "a ton" of interest, but even 5-10 new payers is something to start with. From there you can keep the momentum going and hopefully move it to arena or RV so more on the "usual suspects" on Triumph will signup. I advocate for ANY kind of pvp. Even if its in Sirens under i13 rules.

Your reward for running events like this is basically all peer based. So I applaud you for putting in the time and effort.

    GGs and GLHF all.
  3. We all know that everyone has their own intentions for making proposed votes for rule changes. This case in particular, we can all agree that the point system was horrid starting out. We may not "all" agree with what has resulted because of the said system, which has since been addressed.

Regardless of which side you stand regarding adjusting points retroactively, one thing that can be measured is the alienation happening within the league. Im far more concerned about the bad taste that is developing due to all of these issues. As I said in an earlier post in this thread, NOTHING good can come from making changes after the fact. Once the door opens to opinions by teams on the validity of rules, I can guarantee you that the situation becomes a lobbyist issue of which rule fits each team best. Id rather fight this sh*t out and see who's left standing in the end.

On paper, there are 11 weeks left to play. That's 132 possible points out there to go and get. Im worried all of this drama is more harmful to the league than moving points for teams +/- 5 points either way (give or take).

As it sits right now, Champion is the only place for organized arena pvp anywhere in CoH right now. If people involved/participating in the league are assuming we are the only ones paying attention to the results, you are mistaken. As the only organized pvp at the moment, you can be assured there are eyes watching. I'd much rather see a successful season 1 with great momentum going into season 2. Will everyone be happy in the end? I'd hope so...but I know better.

    But...
Is the goal to have everyone happy in the end? Or is the goal a stronger, better, more competitive atmosphere for pvp on CHAMPION server?
  4. WHOA!!!

What happened to Cherry's post? Mod12 hangs out here too?
  5. I wouldn't take that the wrong way Oz. I was just suggesting to anyone who is in the league that knows of someone who might be interested in joining up, much like the same way Ra did. Whether your team/former team "wants" that person is not up to me. But imo I'd rather not see a team drop out if there were other options.

To each his own I suppose. I apologize if I gave the impression that I was interfering or being persuasive.
  6. I am very encouraged that the healer limit has been reversed. Hopefully there will be no more rules/issues changes that affect the league after the fact, being that we are about to start week 3.

On the subject of Oz leaving. Is there an alternate list of players available? Droe and Scribe only need 1 more. I don't see why their team has to fold if they could just find 1 more. I realize that Ra just added on...is there anyone else that knows of someone that wants to join up? Who knows...if we can find someone to fill out Droe & Scribe's 3rd spot, maybe Oz might have a change of mind down the road after a break. Besides 8 teams just sounds better than 7.

Amusingly, people seem to find set line-ups and ATs in a MMO environment a worrying sign; chalk this off to having so many archetypes and powersets and so on I guess.
The hockey analogy is somewhat skewed. The NHL determines what the teams can run. That equals Kat telling teams you HAVE to (as in no choice) field 3 tanks, 1 blaster, 1 emp, etc with NO deviations. That's not what we are doing here.

I'll try to give a sports analogy since its fitting and you used one already: Basketball
1 team has four 7 footers and the "option" to play all four in games making it very difficult for another team to beat them. (( ZOMG! The Celtics have Garnett, Perkins, Shaq and Jermaine Oneal! We have to limit them to only 2 on the court at a time! )) Limiting the 7 footers to 2 per lineup equates in the same thing as what limiting healers is doing. Can the four 7 footers lose? Hell ya, with some speed and evasion. Can a 3 healer lineup lose? Most definitely, with some planning and execution. By limiting, you're hampering. The side effect is that the league becomes elitist, because if team A has 2 players that ONLY play therms/emps, then they both won't be played. (And that will happen if a 3v3 is forced) Basically you're telling them to 1) go get another toon so that you "might" play IF we aren't forced into a 3v3 or 2) you can't play...so sorry.

But I guess it makes more sense to just start limiting ATs as they are played. GGs

Apparently the MAJORITY think it is necessary and whether they have thought out the repercussions or not is irrelevant.

Take this statement and apply it to limiting healers in the 1st place. ESPECIALLY with the adjusted scoring system.

    Issue fixed.
  9. Im with Psoma on this.

Im confident that Exile can come up with lineups the will wreck 1 team healers in 3v3s. With the rules set up in such a way that 3v3 is the default, there is the ability to be straight d*ckmove and force people into a 3v3 and farm them. Which is why I mentioned what happens when 15-1 scores start rolling in? Do we expect people to just sit there and keep getting wiped? That's why I gave the example of 2 tanks and a healer....which = draw.

With the new point system NO ONE in their right mind will be playing for a draw. Loss and draws are the same so why not field lineup with the best chance to win? If you lose you get the same points as if you went super conservative.
  10. The point I was trying to make is NO good can come from limiting an AT other that stalkers. If team "A" waaaabulences that they can't beat team "B" with 2 healers, what's to stop them from crying when someone brings 2 tanks? It's the precedent that's set from limiting in the 1st place.

Also, you pretty much answer your own argument Neuronia. This is a league with titles and prizes. Therefore there are reasons why teams WANT a limit on healers. That's because they want to be able to get kills and work their way back into contention.

The question that needs to be asked is would this limit have passed on day 1 before any matches took place given the 4 points for a win, 2 points for ties/loss scoring system? I don't think so because it would have been implemented already as this isn't Kat's 1st time around the block with leagues. That is the most unbiased way to approach this rule change. A change after the fact will always have bias in it no matter what anyone says.

(Healers are defined as empathy, thermal and Pain sets.)

    Are you serious?????
Didn't the 4 points for a win, 2 points for a loss/tie take care of the worry for ties people??? I SERIOUSLY doubt anyone would run a draw team the rest of the league with the new point structure. There is nothing good that can come from limiting ATs or roles within a league, ESPECIALLY if the reason the limit was proposed has been addressed. I was puzzled that anyone wanted to run a 3 healer lineup and draw in the 1st place since losing awarded more points with the original score system. The only way I see people playing draw teams now, is just to fudge up a higher ranked team. So if the point is to limit healers in an effort to avoid people from running draw teams, what's stopping that team from running 2 tanks & 1 emp? Let me elaborate...

IMO this new ruling is basically a pandora's box or trojan horse issue. I can think of a bunch of combinations that would absolutely wreck 1 healer lineups. Is that what we really want? Do we want 15-2 or 20-3 matches where people get discouraged? And when those 15 or 20 point losses start rolling in, do we want to see 2 tanks and 1 healer just because people dislike getting wiped so bad? Would a vote be proposed on limiting tanks occur at that point? That's only one example.

We all agree that running 3 stalkers is a d0uche move. There are a few other combinations in a 3v3 that would be douchey as well. Are we intending on banning them all as they are introduced? Or can we just have a Saturday fight night with the hopes that every team shows up to win the whole dam thing?

I strongly urge captains to reconsider their votes on the limiting of emps, therms and pains taking into account the new point structure.

I realize that there were 3 issues on Sat. night regarding the point system (especially for ties), certain maps and limiting healers etc. But...

...Is it possible to have transparency on what was proposed for a vote AFTER the voting results are in? This isn't a complaint in any form. I'm just wondering what the changes are and how it will affect the league as we move forward. It's better to know officially what rules are adjusted/not adjusted rather than to speculate. Thank you.

  14. What a smashing success last night was!
It definitely looked like a huge variety, but i think we can all agree that 1 AT with a "specific" secondary is almost mandatory. =))))

GGs all. What a great impression Champion server gave for the newcomers.

Looking for a 4th? Because I need a team. Perk is that Philly keeps me in line. =)
  16. Im sorry i couldnt make it til the end Neuronia. I hope i didnt cause too much of a headache nabbing 2 wins then bailing like that. Seems as though I was cutting it too close for the disconnect service on my internet, and i had to return my modem and HD dvr boxes before the office closed on Thursday. Good news is I made it to Cali in 1 piece. Ill be setting up and back ingame soon.

We have to keep the momentum going with regards to pvp. Im sure glad Neuronia stepped up as pvpec rep. now lets get some ladder matches going!!
  17. 1) What the eff? Why are we talking about a brute in this thread when the title says WP/SS not SS/WP and the cohplanner says "Tanker"? Did this thread fail before it even had a chance?

    2) Not taking SJ is...um...retar...um...ghe...um...not smart.

    3) Taking Energy Mastery instead of Earth Mastery is suspect already.

    4) Conceal/Phase > Medicine pool.

    5) Currently Justice is pretty bad. However some really good peeps came off that server not to mention a select few who still have toons there. Don't hate because although most of everyone is now on Freedom or quit this game...those said players from the old school days of Justice can pvp with the best of them...

...the OP however is talking some serious silliness. I can hear it already: lolpopmoar! lolacco! why u runnin? loluscared?
  18. 1) Thank you to Philly and Enri for allowing me to be a part of such an awesome event.

    2) Thank you to everyone that came out, I hope you all had a blast.

    3) Thank you to Justice Server. Time and again Justice always represents the very best a MMO can offer as far as a community. I'm blessed to be a part of it.

    You have my gratitude Justice.
  19. The Justice Player Auction is scheduled for 5p EST in Pocket D the same as last year unless Philly changed the location for whatever reason. (Doubt it)

LetÂ’s have a great Justice server event and enjoy ourselves as always!!
  20. Reminding everyone that this is in 2 days.

    Haz yooz stuffz red-e!
  21. CityofChange

    For Justice

    I don't know if I should:

    1) say "lolwut" happened?
    OR
    2) get my popcorn ready!

... In before the chaos maybe???
  22. Wednesday FACEGRAPE!

    Triple header would be SoPro!!!
Standing room only in Pocket D.
