Lol when I said I had a bright idea I too was thinking of the Torch but in perhaps a different way... I know of at least one other who is focusing on the torch as well hahah. Yay for mobmind?

Backspace when the blinking cursor is in the the text box = move cursor back one space and erase.
Backspace when your not in a text box = load previous page.
all is takes is for you to mouse click outside the text box once then hit backspace to undo all your typing and go back a page, try it once you will see what I mean.

Yes it is a very ambitious (read: I must be nuts for doing this lol) undertaking and I don't know what kind of quality will result, like any projects of this sort I imagine some days will be better than others. Hopefully the end result is more improvement and lots of cool artz.
@ Deebs: Yeah I followed along with your posts during yours (also Eddy Swan's and Alex Dai's "sketch a day" projects) too and that's probably what gave me this crazy idea... I blame you all!

So it starts tomorrow Jan 1st and runs through March 1st... oh yeah and I'm entered in the FArt contest too (yep bonkers I tell ya lol) hmmm not sure how that will work out but I'll probably count my contest entries for January, February and March towards my goal of 40... unless of course I get eliminated in Jauary or February hahahah.

Simple. You hit the backspace key.
In some browsers it is the command key for going back to the page you were looking at before your current page. It also undoes any typing you did.
Furthermore my nearly deleted images say Neener Neener Thbbbbppptttt!
Yeah I have been doing a lot of long posts lately (mostly answering questions)... which is why I save to notepad a lot... I lost a doozy of a retort once many months ago and couldn't remember the exact wording again after that, regardless of what I typed it didn't have the same Zing! lol

For myself all of my early heroes were male, tall, muscular and fit which I suppose was me trying to create something close to myself in the game so I could roleplay through them and "give" myself the one thing the game has over real life... super powers (especially flight)!
My first 50 was a male also a "healer" named Simon Tam (yes from Firefly)... had a whole backstory of how he had ice powers which he used to freeze his sister and sneak her out of the Alliance facility in a cryo stasis capsule and empathy powers cuz you know doctor/healing ability... duh.
Turns out I make a good healer as all the early teams that knew me always clamored for me to get Simon for da healz yo. Well there was a whole 'nother kind of healer I stumbled onto (this was way back when all the powersets were still "new" to most people) a dark healer so I wanted a dark story of royalty overthrown and usurpage for my concept but stalled on the costume until issue 5 came along (Curse you i5!!!!!
) and ruined all my favorite builds with heinous nerfs (sigh) which made me leave the game for a while... upon my return I tried some of the new content in Croatoa going up against Mary Macomber and presto I had a great bit of canon to go with my back story and Chloe was born. I found I just wasn't very sympathetic to a guy being overthrown (sack up dude, get over it!) but a queen being usurped by her younger sister was much more compelling. Well long story short, once I tried a female character and found it enjoyable I created more (Spinal Red, Xllusya, Shieldara and others). I now have about 35-40% female heroes vs males.
That was my reasoning at the time (and what got me on the path to the dark side lol) for playing a female, it was either try something new or walk away from the game forever (did I say curse you i5 yet?!!) so I did and I'm still here years later. For other guys I dunno... I suppose it could be a control issue... they create the woman of their dreams and then have total control over her... what? Was that treading too deep into the male nerd psyche?
Yeah ok it's more likely because they want to stare at chicks butts as they run lol
...the new walk animation doesn't hurt the view either.

When typing wall o' texts it works good if you periodically hit "ctrl+a" then "ctrl+c" then open a notepad or word or even an email app and paste it in there. Do this every few minutes... it literally take just a few seconds, and if you lose what you were typing just copy paste it from the notepad and your back in business. I do it without thinking now... you only have to lose a big response once to make you adopt a backup strategy to ensure it does not happen again, the above is mine.

Hey everyone, hope you all had a safe and happy holiday season.
I've decided one of my resolutions for the new year going forward is to spend more time creating art!
After so many years of drawing absolutely nothing I've come a long way in the past few months putting
up more than 40 pieces in the last 6 months or so (most were pencil drawings but some were ink and some color).
Well for the new year I want to do 40 more... but in 60 days.
That's right 2 months. I don't know if this will be possible or not (it's still the busiest time of the year
for my computer business) but hey why not shoot for the stars right?
So yeah if any of you want me to try and draw one of your heroes... GIMMEH REFFFFS!
All the usual stuffz apply i.e. I cannot guarantee I will draw every hero posted here (or any of them for that matter),
I do not know if all drawings will be CoH related (though I suspect most of them will be) as I may need to switch it
up once in a while, I also do not know if the 40 will be pencil sketches, pen and ink, or color work it's just whatever
comes to me on that particular day.
This thread is mainly so I can have one easy place to come for references and inspiration... it also lets me know who
is interested in having me draw them, so post em if ya got em and click the button in my sig to go to the artz!

Funny story: I was originally going to buy a new computer with my Christmas money and cash I had saved up. Then a crown on my front tooth broke at the gum line and took the actual tooth with it. Cost of an implant wiped out my computer fund and then some.
Ok, maybe it wasn't "ha ha" funny. I'm not bitter though!

I actually spent yesterday traveling the zones...sightseeing. There's so much to see and appreciate when you've played the game for 5 years on a crappy computer, and lower than the lowest settings. I spent about 10 minutes just kicking leaves around on the ground in Perez Park. It's also nice to see from warwall to warwall, and we need to do something about the polution in Kings Row. I'd never seen the smoke coming out of the smokestacks like that. Seriously...O-zone people!
Also try turning on super speed and jumping up and down in a trash barrel.
P.S. Yeah it gets my vote for coolest card ever (but then I'm biased lol) I mean come on how many people have a personal edition videocard with custom graphics on it? Anyone?

Your hard drives were setup with the following in mind.
Speed: The Solid State Drive is as fast as it comes for storage right now and of all the SSD's the vertex is one of the very best... yeah it's only 60GB but it's meant for just your Operating System, games like CoH, and any apps you want accelerated like your image editing stuff. It also has no moving parts whatsoever so there is no lag while the spindle winds up or the head seeks, there is also no noise (nothing moving= totally silent) and very little power draw or heat produced.
Storage space: This is where your 2nd drive comes in it's one of the faster mechanical drives on the market (the SSD you have is still more than 3x faster) but it's main purpose is space... and lots of it. At 640GB it's more than most people can fill ever (the exception being tons of video like full length movies, camcorder footage or episodes of tv shows... or the mother of all pr0n collections lol). It will easily hold all your music, apps (the ones you don't care to accelerate), documents, pictures and downloads and still have plenty of room to spare. In case you did decide to use it for video it will hold about 800 hours of standard definition (depending on what codecs are used of course) or about 75 hours of HD video.
Redundancy: I know you had problems with your old drive (the click of death) so I wanted to be sure nothing would happen like that with your new system. I went about it as a two pronged approach. First I tested your two hard drives exhaustively with low level bit by bit scans that took days to complete (I had time while waiting for other parts to arrive) to make sure there were no flaws from the manufacturer and then I made you an external backup system. It's an enclosure I bought with a 1TB hard drive I chose for reliability (more so than speed) installed within. At 1TB or 1,000 Gigabytes of storage space you can easily back up your 60GB SSD your 640HDD and even your wife's notebook drive whatever size it is (as long as she doesn't have more than 300GB filled up with stuff) to this one monster drive which would sit external to your system and be switched off most of the time. By being separated from your systems and switched off it is unaffected by any problems your other drives (or your wife's drive) may run into and if anything should happen to your system (say one of your drives dies on you 5 years from now or you get a really bad virus) you just buy a replacement and put it in your tower and then flip on the 1TB external and load up the most recent backup and your up and running like nothing happened in a matter of hours rather that weeks or months trying to remember, restore or recreate everything you lost from scratch. With that kind of redundancy you can relax and not worry about the click of doom or your data again.
I suggest you look into a good backup strategy/app/and make at least one full backup (everything on the drives) when everything is still new & minty fresh and then make regular, like once a week, incremental backups (just saves the new data you created that week not the contents of the whole drive) and that way worse case scenario you can only lose what ever data was made since the last incremental backup (1-7 days worth of stuff).
This setup actually covers what you stated in your question... stuff you want really fast goes on the SSD and stuff you want to store goes on the big HDD and that way no matter how full your storage drive gets it won't "bog down" your system drive which will stay lightening fast... of course with no moving parts nothing will really bog down your SSD anyways but there you have it.
You can of course just use the 1TB for extra storage that doesn't affect the system and try to fill it if you choose to (yeah good luck on that lol).

Hmmm, I dunno, without the threat of elimination you could conceivably have months where no one posts and the thread dies due to lack of interest.
Just cuz you get eliminated it doesn't mean you have to stop submitting pieces (Tigerztale submitted pieces last year even though he/she was never even in the contest) it just means you are out of the running for the title.
with Foo's suggestion if someone gets far enough ahead on the points they could conceivably slack for several months, choose to not even submit a final piece and still win, while someone else who puts up a piece each month may have no chance to win... you could also have a win on a technicality.
While I do like the idea of more than one person placing (like an Olympic gold silver and bronze) I am ok with having just one champion as last year did... whatever Wassy decides is fine by me.

The Adept series was great too as was the Incarnations of Immortality, Xanth and pretty much everything else he has written. Piers has written over 140 books and he is still going strong... I kinda always knew I had really good connections and pings as people bringing their pc's here
for LAN parties always commented how much faster they connected... but it's nice to see it confirmed thanks.
