  1. I signed up for a month. I've been working from home all week, and all of that sitting in the computer chair prompted some muscle memory in my *** about sitting at the computer for hours playing City of Heroes.

So I'm back after a year off. What are the new things? Where does everyone hang out these days? I remember quitting this game because it had become basically a solo experience for me, and as a solo game, CoH is awful; there are much better solo experiences on the PS3. So I wanted to try to really like this game, and to do that, you guys have to invite me to your teams.
  2. Hello. I'll join if I'm around. Either you unfriended me ( ) or I've forgotten your global.
  3. Here's an image of all of them:

My favorite images are probably the Bobcats, Nets, Spurs and Bucks. The Cavs image... Really twisting the knife in with the "Unamazing" moniker.

And regarding the Mavericks image, I figured that it was Hank Pym, but... I still don't get it. Maybe I was looking for more meaning in each image.

I still want to read it. Maybe it will explain what their reasoning was for the Mavericks image, as well as some of the other seemingly nonsensical ones, like the Pacers, Pistons, Wizards, Warriors and Timberwolves.
  4. I stopped at three different gas stations on the way to work this morning to grab this, but none of them carried ESPN The Magazine.

    Has anyone found pictures online?

I found a few. Someone explain to me who the hell the Mavericks are supposed to be. I don't get it.

  5. Thanks for the images, Elric. That's what I was waiting for.
  6. If it's just variant covers, no harm no foul.

I could maybe accept a miniseries...

But when the Avengers find themselves fighting their way out of the Enchanted Forest alongside Prince Charming, I'm out.
  7. That image makes it seem pretty awful, but this:

    Quote:
"As soon as I heard about the idea behind the [Cleveland] Cavaliers image, I was immediately struck with that. It's very strong, very powerful and could almost run without words, that's how beautiful it is."

"The Cavaliers image is an homage to possibly one of the most resonant comic book images of all-time: 'Spider-Man No More' [from 1967's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #50], in which we see Peter Parker leaving his Spider-Man tights discarded in the trash in an alleyway as he walks off into the cold, rainy night," elaborates Alonso. "We thought what better image to sum up how Cleveland [fans] feel seeing LeBron James leaving his Cavaliers jersey behind as he walks onto greener pastures with Miami. The icing on the cake is that we managed to get John Romita Sr., a comic book legend and the artist who drew the original [image] to come out of semi-retirement and do the illustration."
    Makes it sound cool.

But I'm a huge basketball and Marvel fan, so this may as well have been called the "Moses Salute."

I'd love to show you the 150+ million (still missing some Numinas, the LotG increased recharge and a couple of resistance IOs for the shields) and counting build I went with, but unfortunately I'm at work and left my thumb drive at home.

Ultimately, I think the biggest factor is that Thunderstrike gives you a bigger recharge enhancement opportunity. The heavy hitters of the sets always get Thunderstrike for me. Plus, if you're not rolling in the dough, Thunderstrikes are fairly cheap and generally don't require as much costly salvage.

I don't think I did a full set of Devastation this time around. I like the chance for Hold, but I believe it doesn't work on bosses? That's the only time it would be useful at all for me. I already have two holds (Freeze Ray and Shocking Grasp), so it's less of an issue for me. I know I did a three-slot Devastation and three-slot Thunderstrike in Ice Blast though.

Plus, I five-slotted Decimation in Ice Bolt (the quickest recharging attack), so I had a Chance for Build Up firing off about every 12 times I used it. That doesn't give much of a recharge bonus though (just like Devastation), so I personally recommend you put the Procs in powers that already recharge quickly, that you wouldn't be ebhancing that much no matter how much +recharge you threw into them.

    Rad Blast

I've played Radiation on a defender briefly (level 20 or so), a corrupter to 50, and currently have a level 22 Rad/EM blaster.

Electron Haze and Neutron Bomb aren't the greatest AoEs there has ever been. I have both on my Corrputer, but if I was limited to one, I think I would pick the Bomb. Slightly less damage IIRC, but you don't have to worry about lining up the cone. With Radiation, due to Irradiate and Cosmic Burst, you're going to be near melee range a lot, so jumping out, especially if you don't have Combat Jumping+Hurdle, will get annoying.

That's been my thought process with my Rad/EM, at least. I'm not to the point of taking either on him, but I think I'll stick with the Bomb alone.

He'll also be skipping the Snipe; it just doesn't fit into my playstyle, though I've always liked the style of the Radiation snipe.
  13. I spent all weekend outfitting my Ice/Electric Blaster for Set IOs.

    Did you overpay?

17,000,000 for a Prophecy just now, if anyone happened to benefit from that.
  15. Ultimatum didn't end up ending anything, except I guess, kind of Ultimate Fantastic Four.

Everything got new numbering as well I believe.

While Wolverine "died," there is some "Kid Wolverine" running around out there now.

Ugh. I really wished I had taken Ultimatum to be my break-away point with the Ultimate Universe like I told myself I would.

Ultimate Spider-Man is still okay, but it's just... Missing something.

I dunno if I would random roll with that many. It would take forever - you can only do one transaction per 20 hours - and you might make more or you might make less, but it would definitely be a slow and tedious process.

Edit: I just realized you meant you are LEVEL 45, not that you have 45 purple merits. So maybe you don't have as many as I thought?
Are people still buying that Gladiator Armor thing for that much? Why? Why don't they just do their Allignment merits and save billions?

Yes, I'm level 45. I don't have 45... I think I've got about 12, which is a lot when you consider that it's 132 missions-worth. (Well, one may have been bought because I was curious).
  19. But, that's different than it used to be, isn't it?

I remember being able to psuedo-tank for a team when an AoE control was up, but now it seems I can die as soon as I hit the power in the one returning salvo.
  20. 20, 30, 40, 50? Is that it? Are those correct?

Also, is there an Alignment Merit cap? I've got quite a few now...

I've been collecting them since I18 released, I don't know why, but now I'm 45 and just assuming it's best to wait until level 50 to cash 'em in, but I'm also curious about the other level ranges.

    Thanks.
  21. I've been searching, but having no luck. This is something that affects all ATs, though mostly the Controllers...

Why are mobs able to get off one shot as they're being held?

Is that how they now define "working as intended"?

What I mean: I can be completely invisible on my Fire/Storm Controller, hit Flashfire to disorient a group at range, but before the status effect hits, each enemy gets one free ranged hit on me.

I'm sure this has to have been addressed before. Help?
  22. And what is the best usage of time/effort/money for 51 mill+?

    300 mill+?

    500 mill+?
  23. the depowering was on a massive scale (like 8/10 were depowered), so it wasn't just a personal grudge each time.
