I just logged off Union.
Completely unplayable rubberbanding.
CoH for me has always been the most laggy mmo. I have played many free to play MMO's that were far less laggy.
I really wish they would do something about the eu servers. It really is appalling that a pay to play game has such substandard servers. -
the i13 pvp overhaul was a complete PR disaster for the devs. Very similar to NGE in star wars just on a far smaller scale and only affecting a minority of the player base.
The utter breakdown in communication between the devs and the pvp community was shameful. A community rep lost his position through what seemed to me was him sticking up for Castle/Posi and admitting the dev's animosity towards the 'hardcore' pvp community.
And any opportunity that Posi gets questioned on pvp he makes some banal comment about liking the new system then refuses point blank to answer any more questions. There has obviously been a company directive to ignore and avoid anything pvp related. And in light of the fact that people obviously can lose their jobs by engaging the playerbase on pvp related topics they all hold the line.
Its pointless. The devs will never touch pvp again. All we are doing is giving the active pvp haters more opportunity to kick pvp while its down. All the same idiots who for some bizzarre reason castle/posi used as their focus group for pvp changes. "I actively hate pvp, I have never and will never pvp and will vocally attack coh pvp until it is removed from the game." - perfect, this guy is just who we should listen to for pvp changes!
Just look at all the vultures in this thread. Why are they even here? They consistently and monotonously repeat their "have never, will neverrr...." mantra while posting hysterically in pvp threads any opportunity they get.
I dont really care that much for badging. Using their logic I should be campaigning for it to be removed from the game non stop? Trolling every badger thread I can?
You dont like pvp? Fine just go enjoy what u like about CoH. PvP will hardly ever have any effect on your enjoyment of CoH. The pvp hate mob won. PvP'ers lost. Well done. Now try and have a little decency instead of repeatedly kicking someone when they are down. However logical, coherent and polite you are, you are still just trolling. -

I have been on and off lvling a rad/dark/dark build. I love it. Once those mobs are locked down they are dead. Simple as. lvl 48 now and with a load of cheapy +rech bonuses and soul drain up nearly all the time the damage output is pretty respectable. And with AM up nearly all the time you can blast away non stop. Plus all that stackable mez comes in handy.
When I have teamed with it after solo'ing I sometimes get frustrated by slow tanks. My SG leader told me to stop embarrassing our tank by herding and locking down the mobs before he could even catch up. He isnt very experienced in tanking but even so it shows how tough this build can be.
Plus it works great in teams just as much as solo. -
I have been wanting to do this for ages.
Have a WS that will be 50 shortly that is already nearly fully slotted. Just under 40% ranged def and forms heavily slotted.
Been playing khelds on and off since straight after my first 50 two years ago. Have a lvl 50 PB too but it is on Defiant. -
I find it doubtful they will do any sort of server merge at this point or ever.
The specifics of the technicalities are not as relevant to me. All it really boils down to is cost. However it could be done it would be a huge undertaking that would cost a lot for only a tiny amount of people. And that cost would not translate into profit. That is why it will never happen in my opinion.
The devs wont admit to that. And I am sure the devs would love to implement a server list merge or such but I cant imagine how they could sell it to the money masters.
In fact if you think about it, that little extra they manage to squeeze out of us EU customers such as our limited slots vs US users abundance etc. It would actually work out that they would be losing money through a server merge. -

Could you discuss pvp please? You made a lot of promises with the i13 "upgrade" yet there has been complete silence on the topic since. -
Yeh. RoxBow- it gave as good as it got around i12 and for a while after i13 but now I just cant compete with some of the builds flying around RV.
And @conflict yeh i have a bs/regen scrapper. Bit boring. Yes I can stay alive. Obviously a single stalker would have to get lucky to take me down on that.
I wasnt the OP and I personally dont think stalkers are that out of order. I am lvling one myself to play in RV.
I just feel there is a little exaggeration about how poor stalkers are. A decently built stalker with a skilled player will cause you some pain imo. -

On my blaster that is at HP cap with some decent loldefense, some of the stalkers in there can unleash a downright hailstorm of pain on me.
I know they are decent players with expensive builds and they really hit hard. I went in the other day just stood next to the base and two of them opened up with sharks and even pumping my heal and hitting hiber didnt make any difference. All those procs and ticks was just crazy. Dead in about 2-3 seconds- heal didnt do anything and hiber didnt kick in anywhere near in time.
Gotta love looking at yourself in an ice cube then dieing like 8 seconds later.
But yeh I must just suck compared to you uber guys. I mean to attain the level of skill where i can actually leave the room and let a stalker hammer on my blaster and not die. Sheesh if only I had skills such as those.
I didnt really mind stalkers pre abomination pvp. At least they didnt have sharks then and WASD actually worked as a counter to AS.
But it seems to me now after a 6 month break that the major factor in most builds is the sheer amount of cash spent on the builds.
I could hold my own on my cheaper builds in zonal, between 250m up to about 600m against more expensive builds pre abomination. But now I can really feel the difference in performance.
But yeh as Union has only a tiny pvp population now the majority of pvp'ers all seem to have very expensive builds. And while im not singling out stalkers as especially unbalanced I really cant see how ANY build could afk in front of most of the stalkers on Union. Maybe a scrap or tank for a few seconds. -
Never? I take it you are insinuating that you have "never' been killed by a solo stalker?

Well i have hung my cape up for the immediate future and my subs run out in a few days.
Just feels like the game i loved has died over the last two issues.
But all things pass eventually.
Anyway I am going to be on CO at release so hopefully this is just a goodbye for now. I will probably go EU after saying I am going US for a bit. The CO PvP sounds promising if not quite there yet. Should be more accessible in a WaR sorta way from what i hear.
To anyone I have fought alongside and against, thanks for the fun and hope to see you on the other side. I will try to keep @Charnell on CO.

WE pay their wages. Take a note of the Meaning of we, theres thousands of people playing this game. Losing yours won't stop them.
Call it what you want they haven't made everything the same, they fiddled with numbers to equalize the playing field between AT's which is something that never existed. Is it because you can no longer easily just destroy everything in sight now? Is it because other people now have a chance? I'm lost as to why making the PvP more open and enjoyable for more people and classes is a bad thing.
Just because they don't participate doesn't mean they don't test or observe the result of the changes they make. Into that the forums are a source and there's no reason for them to reply to a thread all the time, until they do there won't be any acknowledgment.

as post header says?? ive been playing COX for over 3 years and pvped most of it,then devs came along and ruined an awesome game IMO, i think it would help the resident base of pvpers to understand the crazy devs choices if we all understood therre ultimate goals,

I havent been in CO test but have been hearing bits and bobs about it. Sounds like the pvp element is getting attention.
If CO goes with the eu/us server model will you be going to eu? Same question for you other pvp'ers, rent etc. Would be nice if we could start afresh over there together. Pick up where we left off with our friendships and animosity :P
I am tempted to try US servers but if a few faces i know from pvp go eu i would too. -

Agree 100% with Scarlets OP.
They ruined PvP in the face of the pvp playerbase in uproar warning them how misguided their chages were.
Now they ruined PvE.
I appreciate that in both cases the devs were genuinely trying to move the game forward. But I just think they have missed the mark in both areas.
I know not everyone likes PvP but I do/did and having PvE broken the issue after they killed off pvp is just too much.
The PvP changes were very shortsighted and surely some warning bells were ringing for them?
With MA surely they didnt even need warning what would happen? First thing I thought when i heard it announced was that farming would go out of control. And unfortunately its even worse as it seems to have pushed all the other PvE content out of the frame.
I have logged in 10-15 times over the last 10 days. I have only stayed logged in for more than 15 minutes once or twice. And those times have usually only been as i got invited to a farm.
Unless something amazing happens I think I will be hanging my cape up permanently. I quit in protest after they murdered pvp but this time I just have no enthusiasm about the game at all.
These are all subjective opinions of my own and not intended to spark debate. Just to explain where i13/i14 have left me in relation to the game. -

What is the point? Castle and co will just carry on with their bizarre and unpopular ideas till pvp is well and truly dead.
i14 has been a total fail for me. Now not only has my pvp content taken a massive and probably fatal blow but pve has gone down the same path. Just zoning into atlas to see broadcast spammed non stop with farming msgs is very depressing.
Why bother brainstorming for ideas to improve pvp when the devs have repeatedly shown that they are revising pvp to their own specific "vision". And further that they dont give two hoots about their customers feedback. Castle even came over to post on our EU boards to tell us in no uncertain terms that he just ignores "whining".
I can't speak for the US servers but Union's pvp zones are ghost zones now. There is the odd blip when there are a few people in zone. But overall pvp is incontrovertibly deader than any time pre-i13.
Unless the actual devs and not just community reps come forward and start responding to feedback and suggestions I think we would all just be [censored] in the wind wasting time thinking of ways to improve pvp.
Since i14 I am finding myself logging in sporadically with little or no enthusiasm.
And just LOL at Posi ripping on Statesman's "Vision" of how the game should be then doing exactly the same thing with pvp. At least Statesman spent a lot of time on his vision rather than a couple of hours in a pvp zone with his mate castle and fudging together some ham fisted vision of how pvp should be. -
