Quote:Yes, but when you do that, you have to be careful to expand on the story or it is going to look like a rehash. You realize how closely the antagonist of this story and the first are related and they share the same goals/ideals right?
I'm not trying to trash the movie, just expressing my personal opinion and trying to articulate why I think the way I do. I'm probably the minority here. -
I agree that people many people are not rational and even normally rational people can do irrational things. However, the instinct for self preservation is very strong, so I need some kind of extraordinary explanation for how or why the bad guys have managed to turn it off. I'd buy a few true-believer leaders, but 80% of the minions should have fled like rats off a sinking ship. I mean, would you entrust your life to someone whose self-proclaimed goal is to destroy Gotham? The prisons are not exactly full of people that are going toe the line and serve as enforcers if there is nothing in it for them.

I did not care for it at all. Having Bane's face covered the whole time totally drained the character of whatever charisma Tom Hardy may have been able to impart if he hadn't been handicapped.
There were long periods of the film where Bruce Wayne was healing and very little was happening. Lack of action in an action movie leaves you lots of time to think about the gaping plot holes that you could gloss over if it was better at distracting you.
So we had a villain (that I didn't believe could gather a cult around himself) which was dedicated to an irrational, self destructive end (which had already been used in Batman Begins). It played out over a month of time (which was again, irrational, and killed whatever tension and momentum the film had built to that point).
People seemed to like the twist, but I had already checked out at that point, so I guess it barely registered. -

I think a lot depends on your build and secondary. If you have a resistance based secondary, like Fire Aura or Electric Armor, you'd probably get more out of the resistance boosts in Cardiac. If you have a few stacked healing powers as in Regen or Willpower, you may get more milage out of Vigor.

Thanks for hosting this E-man. This was the first time I'd gone through the story arcs, red or blue side.
Plus Guised Guerilla got a level out of it. :-P -
I'd love to be involved in this. I have serveral characters I can use, but my Dark / SR stalker would be my preference.
My in-game global is @Charged Atmosphere. -
Sorry, Net, but I do believe one of your controllers was actually a Peacebringer. I know you've supressed the horror, but the truth has come out! :-P

Ok, I've had a chance to rework the build. I've enhanced char and ring of fire for damage now since they are the primary damage dealers on low level task forces. I also re-did the enhancements to get recovery and recharge bonuses while trying to keep in mind the purpose of the underlying power. I'm up to 200% recovery and 126% recharge, but that is a lot of balls to keep in the air for a Mids newbie. I'd appreciate if you guys could make any constructive comments.

It's up! Yea! Wait, no. It still isn't working for me.
The "Post" and "Get" buttons are not working for me. I quit the game, verified all files, and tried again. It worked briefly, but then stopped working for me again after I came back from crafting some enhancements.
Strangely, the "Post" and "Get" buttons were red when they worked, but they were grey just like the "Find" button when they didn't (the "Find" button always worked for me). -
Thanks for the input guys. I did get a little caught up in the set bonus game. Hopefully the changes you suggested will help keep him playable.

I'm posting a fire/rad build. Could I get a few opinions on it? The character is already 50, so I'm not concerned with the order of the powers, just choice and slotting. I've already bought several of the more expensive IO's and still have over 100 million influence to burn, so cost isn't really an issue.
Typically I open up with flashfire, jump into melee range and hit fissure. The two stacking stuns usually give me a bit of breathing room for my hot feet and choking cloud (and imps) to start to work on the mobs.
Since I'm usually close in, I've almost managed to soft cap smashing and lethal, and I've got 24% ranged defense and 17% AOE defense without gimping the build (hopefully).
My biggest problem up to now has been getting mezzed and dropping all my toggles. I'm hoping this will significantly reduce that. My next biggest problem has been endurance recovery, which I don't think this build really addresses (and, in fact, this build has me running several more toggles than I am currently).
I also haven't seen any guides to the epic powers, so I don't have a sense of how good they are. Seismic Smash and Earth's Embrace both sound great and I'd love to figure out a way to fit them in, but I'm not sure I'm willing to give up any of the powers I've already taken. Are there any opinions out there on those?

I have slow IO's in this power. It only affects the run, jump, and fly movement speeds, but those have changed from the base of -75% to -146%.

Just as an FYI to help you get a true picture, you can tell which server has the most activity at a given time. When you log on, the most recently accessed server is at the top. The rest of them will be arranged in their order of activity, with the most lightly used server in the second slot and the most heavily used server at the bottom.
I would also encourage you to go to the Oceanic Lounge:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=667
You may be able to connect with more players in your area.
Thirdly, see if there are global channels that you can get on. There is nothing that can make a server seem more populated than to see the server chatter scrolling up the side. I've been surprised at how many people were on at odd hours of the day even though the zone seemed pretty dead. -
I'd like to sign up for this. Saturday morning is likely to be the only time I can get this task force in.
I'd like to use my Warshade, but I also have a 'Fender, 'Troller, and Scrapper that need this badge. Or a Tank -- though that isn't likely. -
Bah, I'm going to have to bow out. Since I was only an alternate, hopefully I didn't inconvenience anyone too badly.
-
I'd like to get in on this if I can.
@Charged Atmosphere
I'll probably be running on Brat Pack, ninja/poison Mastermind. -
I'd love to help with that experiment, Jeet, but, alas, my highest level character on Freedom is level 30-ish.
-
Hey everyone. I really, really wanted to be there tonight since it was likely to be our last time together as a static team. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will happen. I moved most of my stuff (including my computer) into a new house (in preparation to get married next Saturday), but I didn't get the request in early enough and the cable provider won't get me transferred until Wednesday.
If someone gets this before our meeting time, give everyone my best. I'm globals friends with Slacker-Jack and Sialina, so I'll probably continue to see you guys in-game. Have fun Melody and I hope you ding 50 tonight if you haven't already! Give Kitty a hard time for me. -
Half of the team hit 50 last night. I stayed on about an hour after the team broke up and I also dinged 50. Congrats to everyone!
-
I think it is more important not to be a bad player. I've had experiences where a struggling team suddenly seemed much better once one player was kicked or left. But the truth is that most of the content can be handled by a bunch of average players playing competently.
Player ability makes a bigger difference when you're going up against some of the high end content. If you're trying for a Masters task force or looking to do a record setting speed Posi, then someone with enough experience to know what they're doing will give you a significant edge.
I know that some of you only team with people you know, but I PUG a lot. For the most part, I don't know how good someone is when I accept or send that invite. While I agree that almost everything can be done by almost any team (assuming good to great players), looking at the archtype and powerset at least lets me know that the person has the tools in front of them to do the job even if they are a mediocre player.
Do I have an archtype preference? Yes, I tend to avoid melee characters. For some strange reason, I can't seem to get into the hand to hand fighting. The one exception I have to this is my fire/wp brute. He does enough damage that the orange number thrill offsets the melee downer. -
Looks like I won't make it on Sunday after all. My fiancee and I are going to a marriage semenar. I may see you at the very end. Have fun y'all!

It looks like I'm going to be able to make it this Sunday.
I supposed I only get a half vote since I'm only there about half the time, but I would be interested in planning the next round.
A few weeks ago, a group created an elemental team. They brainstormed and came up with fire, earth, air (storm), water (ice), heart (?), soul (peacebringer), void (dark), and metal. I really like the fire and dark sets that I've tried and would also like to try some of the ice sets. I think this concept is tight enough to fit thematically, but loose enough that people have a lot of freedom in creating their characters.
Thematically, I like the idea of creating a team of valkyries. This would also be appropriate for the elemental powers since you would expect demi-goddesses to be able to control the elements.
Another idea that I was going to use in an AE story (that I never got around to writing), was creating a modern group of gods and goddesses based around ancient ones. We could have a Zeus (electric), Mars (weapon sets), Thor (storm), Cedna (ice), Hadies (fire and/or dark), etc. Again, there were enough ancient cultures to borrow from that it created a lot of freedom for individual choice. -
I have a son/rad defender. Teamed, she's a huge damage multiplier. My best time on the Synapse task force was with this toon. The Clockwork King and Babbage both went down within a few seconds. I call her my "nutcracker."
I hadn't realized how dependent she was on the team though. About a week ago, I tried to solo my cape mission. I died over a half a dozen times and finally decided that the trip back from the hospital in Steel to Perez was too much of a pain on a superspeed character. I finally had to call for help over BMT.
Teamed, she is a great character. Solo, not so much.
