You do realize that you are being manipulated into thinking there has been a massive amount of more people playing the game. Along with Going Rogue they introduced the Queue system. This system pre-fills each server with an alotted amount of imaginary logins so that people will be able to queue their way in if the server is grayed out red (which was only on the day of GR). There's two advantages to this system, one as the already mentioned being able to login eventually once the server is full to the brim. The other is that it makes the servers "look" like they are fuller than they are, this makes people believe that there are actually people to play with so that they will login in hopes of teaming and such. If the servers used to be green before they are now yellow, unless there is absolutely NO one on that server in which it will be green for the NPCs, if they are red then they used to be yellow.

Yeah sure the game probably has picked up a few more subs but it's more of the old crowd that used to play this game, how much is a game with dated looks and graphics going to attract new customers? Wouldn't the fitness gimmick have been smarter to introduce new players to with the "expansion" since they wouldn't realize the fitness pool was necessary anyways? It's great that there's a whole new tutorial zone for the few new subs they got but I'm sure those that have played this game for so long would have liked to have seen an addition to what they can do with their 50s instead of "later".

AE was a dumb idea, sure it sounds neat and all but it's just too much time management for them to correct abusable stuff. If it wasn't a bad idea how come there isn't any AE buildings in Praetoria, they've been trying to lower the amount of content that they have to produce by automating it with player created content but that seemed to be too abusable. PvP changes in theory were needed but the practicality of them don't match what common sense would tell you.

They seem to be so out of touch from their playerbase it's almost as if these guys haven't been running this game for the past 6 years. Before these guys get another bad idea I'm going to let someone else prove how bad they are, at least it will be better looking crap if it is bad. It's good that they have suckers like you to rely on, what would they do if they had a game full of people that took the time to learn and comprehend what was going on.

Oh and DR to PvE is my crazy theory because it makes the most sense with all the hush hush stuff. They weren't satisfied with just killing off PvP they are going to try to do it to PvE, but this time they will listen and keep all of the suckers pumping their monthlys into a losing game.

Unadulterated malice no. We should all be for the betterment of the game and for the devs to work with us to help us enjoy the game as it should make sense, not to nullify ATs and certain builds outright from play in whatever form you choose to participate. I'm all for change to make things more balanced which can add a degree of difficulty but it has to make sense in the big scheme of things.

What goes around comes around, people don't want to voice their opinion to help raise awareness about player related issues that actually do affect us all or outright call the ones asking for SOME kind of feedback (which hasn't been given in two years) crybabies. I'm all for fixing things, I don't base raid but for a few times and I think it's a shame that the ones who loved to do so can no longer do it, there's a lot of issues that need addressed and rather than saying "Oh well it's over there in PvP land, not my concern" maybe people should speak up because wouldn't you want others to speak up for you if the shoe were on the other foot?

You're up to bat PvE'rs, hope the devs don't bean you with a 100 mph fastball too.
  3. I REALLY hope it's DR coming to PvE, the hate that would be thrown about by the total community about how bad DR is if it were to be the current PvP version would be hilarious, finally now everyone would understand how PvP'ers felt.

But the real reason I'm hoping it's DR is that it's gonna be a lessened form of what it currently is in PvP because the outrage from PvE land would be too unbearable. I have no problem with players having a maximum or minimum amount of buffage or debuffage on them to balance things but it has to be a MUCH higher value allowed than what DR currently is.

Really all this talk of DR is great, for once EVERYONE is talking about the bad version of DR rather than just the PvP players and then getting lambasted for it and being called whiners. It's gonna be hard for the devs to ignore something that's shoved in their face.

I've perma confused two GMs in Monster Island into fighting each other but they hardly dented eithers hp.

Yeah but they devoted a large portion of their assets for a whole issue for them to ignore a minority in hopes of attracting new "minorities" to become a majority but didn't listen to the minority on how this was a failed tactic and better to implement certain things to draw people in a different way rather than to kill what the minorities liked best about this playstyle as opposed to other games. I know it's hard to filter out the resounding groans to find valuable insight but they are doing it with their PvE player base, it's just sad they didn't take the time to do that with the PvP base (well they did but just went ahead with their "vision" anyways). An hours worth of thought and reasoning instead of stubborness on both sides would have saved thousands of subscriptions and maybe created a few more too. So yeah that was a smart business choice right there.

If not, a lot of it will be lost, but even then Positron copied his CB post into the open forums for everyone to see regarding the SNEAK PREVIEW INCARNATE SLOT removal. He explained that it was a sneak preview, not a full release of the system, that it wasn't ever intended for GR, but was added in as a peek at what was coming/bonus. It got removed because they had to slap together a hacknied reward system to facilitate unlocking it, and there was no content to really use and test it on, because the content that goes with it wasn't there, as it was just a preview. Also, people in the CB complained (rightly so) that it didn't make enough of a difference to their characters, and that there was no "lore" to back up how we got the Incarnate abilities, or what allowed such a thing within the framework of CoH. Both of those are being addressed by pulling the slot, reworking it, and waiting until some of the content is there to support it. The one slot was the only thing covered. all 10 of them were not going to be released at the same time, and they still won't. Positron has covered this a few times as well. They've flat admitted that i19 is "The stuff we didn't have time for while working on GR". Just like i7 was basically "The stuff we couldn't work into CoV (i.e. Mayhem Missions, Level cap to 50 increase, PPPs etc.). That's no different than has ever happened before.

Sometimes I think people just complain to "hear" themselves talk.
You've posted so much in this thread AND I'm the one who likes to "hear" themselves talk?

Just pointing out the fact that these guys don't know what their player base wants, maybe they should try playing the game a lil more often. It's funny that something as trivial as inherent fitness that could have been done anytime within the past six years is now the major selling point only because they are running thin on ideas instead of implemented years ago.

A crap ton more stuff to do, or at least the smidgeon that we are getting with i19 should have been thought out enough to be implemented with the "expansion" that was purchased and not have to wait till they ration it out for god knows how long. But hey what do I know, I like PvP and when they say things are in the works I know to trust that within three years "maybe" something will get done. Since there's not much left to PvP with I am forced to find my end-game content elsewhere for the time being. I'd rather they just fixed PvP so I never have to come to these boards and get demonized because I voice an opinion that their vision and efforts are lacking most times and that they pander to the select group and fail to recognize fault when a minority is upset about something.
  7. Ice is more of a melee centric playstyle as you want to be in melee with Arctic Air running so that you can confuse who you are fighting but it gets knocked off rather easy, and you can get jack frost which is a great pet.

The mezzes in mind are psionic based and not typed based (i.e. ranged, melee and aoe) so they are tons more accurate and going to hit even when someone is running elude. A confuse that you don't have to retoggle when it gets mezzed off is much easier to manage and the mind attacks do a good amount of damage and are fast animations.

Back in the day when -recharge and slows actually mattered for those other than just colds I would say it is a toss up for the two based on how your playstyle is but now just go with mind and enjoy the utility of it.
  8. So this is issue 19 eh?

They moved back a large chunk of the incarnate levels to make sure that the content that they should have created for the incarnate end-game in the first place is now enough for the alpha slot that should have been with Going Rogue? Seems to me that these devs are reacting to negative feedback about the lack of quality or thought put into their expansion content as opposed to actually setting the bar higher than we expected.

Issue 19 has the incarnate alpha slot (which "should" have been in GR but they didn't realize people wanted actual content with their end-game), a new TF and a gimmick in inherent fitness that should keep us busy respec'ing all of our characters until the real end-game comes.

As much as I like the idea of not having to choose fitness (hopefully now they add more power pools, the lack of diversity is apparent) and new end-game stuff to do allbeit minimal in comparison to what "should" have been available to us by i19 I really hope this issue finds its way to us within a few weeks since the majority of it should already be done.
  9. The Good:
-The armors giving global resists is a great idea I like that but the base resist for squishies should go.
-The non-offensive toggles staying on I like that and the offensive ones dropping is fine with me.
-The mez system change where mezzes actually do have an effect when you use them I do like but this system needs more fine tuning. Being unable to use a main power against a blaster or the two emps on his team to no effect because everyone has CM was bad about the old mez system. Sure you could eat players out of BFs and then it was easy pie but it shouldn't have to come to that. An all or nothing system was no good and so is one where every toon has basically an equally powerful mez as mezzing specific toons do, a lowering of what non-mez specific ATs mezzing abilities can do I think is in order but you can't all out remove it because they need to be able to knock off those offensive toggles too.

    The Bad:
-Diminishing Returns in its current form. I see the need for a maximum or minimum amount of buffs and debuffs a toon should have on them but as it is now it is a joke and mostly for squishies. Raising it to scrapper level diminishing returns and the removal of global resists will help to bring back the support role a bit with more buffage for more effect. And you can also build your toon for other things than just hp. This subject boils down to having more variety.
-Power animation times doing crazy damage on some powers and a "where's the beef" effect to powers you would think that would do high damage. There should be a set value for how hard a power hits taking into count the activation time sure but there needs to be sense about it *looking at you fossilizeand sharks*. If they can't rework the power damage system to make sense they should just revert it back to PvE values so it does make sense.
-Jav proc's. In PvP's current form of damage spam things got magnified in intensity when these boys came around. This is a wait and see topic if the Diminishing Returns for players gets reevaluated but I do believe these are a bane to the damage spam game. I have a few toons with many jav proc's and I still would be for a change to them if things would not work itself out sooner or later.
-Heal Decay. I do not like heal decay for arena matches but I do see a point to it in zone. You don't really want a walking juggernaut with bottomless heals to be out there rolling the zone only because he has a emp/pain friend or two. Leaving this as is with the button for arena matches and on for zone or a slight buff to it I can see and that's why I wouldn't put it in the next topic.

    The Ugly:
    -Travel Suppression......

But this point is moot, more and more there's less people that could care less about what happens because the people who run this game have shown they could care less about fixing and promoting a large portion of what their game can do with just an issues worth of effort that would create more enjoyable endgame content than anything they can come up with for PvE.

  12. Pretty sure the devs have the PvP forum threads on /ignore. The only ones allowed in are the Mods. This is like the wastelands and the Devs send the Mods out to get cannibalized so that they can keep ignoring this area. What we need to do is invade the PvE land and get some spies into the upper crust so that they can influence changes in PvP without them knowing it.

"Boy I sure would like to get some of these badges that are in the PvP zones but my toons are all so gimp when they go there and I get ganked, we should turn off all that DR and travel suppression stuff so I can run from badge spot to badge spot without interruption."

    Here's to hoping though!

    PvP Booster Pack

Well if they had not laughed away the 10% of the PvP population back a few years ago this population would now make up about 40% of the games population. So yeah 40% of people left on this game buying a booster pack would be good money. Even though we shouldn't have to since that's what our monthly is meant for but it was just an idea to throw out there since they are targeting ways to generate revenue. (And before I get flamed about how red the servers have been the new Queue system eats up a large chunk of the server so that it looks like people are playing this game which will trick others into thinking there's people to play with, they didn't proliferate Illusion to Doms but they proliferated it to the server logins)

The only dynamic and evolving end-game content there is to this game they kick in the gut and ignore the fact that they kicked it in the gut. What's better? To bask in the scripted tears of NPC's as you kill statesman for the billionth time or basking in another players tears as u tear apart their precious?

Maybe now that they have killed off some of their RP'er community they will refocus their efforts onto PvP (begins holding breath).

    PvP Booster Pack

Now that they are done with all of the origin sets and they have this new sweet party pack coming out (bonus power is tp foe) I think they could focus some attention on the only endgame content they have. I'd gladly pay $10+ for **** to be fixed, more attention and thought to be put into this so called PvP, I guess actually I will be come November.

If you buy the pack you can get to play PvP with the new improved (old) PvP, if not you can fiteklub with the other bad Regins.

But honestly though, more emotes, less fixes, fluff is what we need more of.

    KM and Pvp

Ok so maybe I was overdramatizing a little bit, the damage was more around 700+. When I went back through my combat logs though and saw the instance where I was hit for a total of 750+ I decided to uninstall so I cannot provide further proof of this (Overdramatization again i didn't uninstall, not until November).

    KM and Pvp

Tested out a friends KM/Regen/Sharks crapper last night on my dom that usually rolls Regens.

Concentrated Strike did 750+ dmg with heca proc firing to my dom on many occasions without any debuffage and I was running with Charged Armor and Surge of Power godmode for near half the match.

This game is luls, just sayn'.....
  17. I'm sitting here with a Dominator who can't slot one of their epic mastery attacks with IOs knowing that it should be changed to the right classification. How these APP/PPPs made it through all this way to live like this is boggling. Please do hurry, the GR stuff already bores me and I might get bored with this altogether.
  18. I can has the resistance 2 hair and sports boots without paying $40 for the rest of the crap I don't want? Maybe the resistance chest piece too...

Also my math was off, it seems the curve for +special isn't linear so you're getting less as you add more, but my point stands:

Dominate is base 4 seconds. ED-capped slotting gets you to 7.8 seconds. Adding 98% on top of that (Power Boost) gets you to 11.7 seconds. Adding 66% on top of that (Megalo) gets you to 14.4 seconds. Now let's pretend DR eats into that slotting so your ED-capped slotting is only 80%, and DR lowers the total bonus from PB + Megalo to 80% (as opposed to the 164% it would be). That's still around 10 seconds and that's being very liberal with the DR curves on slotted enhancements and +special. Even if the target has 100% hold resistance (i.e. is running Acro) that's still a 4 or 5 second hold. If you've got Domination up (you will most of the time if you're not solo) that'll last full duration and the target won't be able to do a damn thing about it. Yeah, that takes skill right there.
I have 90 some% hold duration in dominate with 5 glad nets but thx for the tip. I'll keep your advice under my pillow, "slot holds for hold, they actually may be useful somewhat with slotting" got it.

    Thanks bud!

Completely unresisted if Domination is up. I'm sorry, but if you're whining about having to run into melee range to use Total Focus when you can mez just as well from 80+ feet, you're a ******* downie.
Oh man what have I been doing wrong this whole time. I've never used domination with powerboost and/or megalo to hold someone in this brave new world of pvp, it's just that easy huh, 20s holds all around............

With acro resistance to holds its more like 4s durations and then with powerboost that adds a second and megalo another and domination a few more seconds. Grab a toon with acro and I'll pop domination+pboost+megalo, the holds will last more like 8s if that. If the hold lasts 20s I will name my next 3 children whatever you like.

I'd rather be mad than spew numbers that in actuality do not do as you suppose they should even with this crap new mez system. Reading off numbers vs playing something and understanding what it does and does not do are two different things, I suggest you try the latter, the former isn't helping you much. I know I picked a fight with a pve'r so I'll cut you some slack.

And yes I totally suck at this forum pvp, my random quote skills are lacking.
  23. Right kid....

You know oh so much about the game and yet you ignore logical statements. I'm not going to get into a forum war over stupid **** because someone happens to spend way more time on the forum than I do so that they can pronounce themselves to be knowing of what they are talking about.

Go back and read the banter between Con and myself about the KB statements too bud, never said it wasn't good to slot the power for KB, just said most peeps that know how to avoid the KB altogether and you may as well get the most bonuses out of that power. I'll even drop it to you like I did your boy Con. Get a /Nrg dom and show me how its done. It better be a earth/nrg because stalagmites will be the only thing that could save you.

I know you're in beta and all mac but if you actually tried reading maybe you'd have been able to help them get the incarnate alpha-slot into GR.

I says I dont mez them, to get the full effect out of my best power I have to pick to use it wisely. Hence catching them without mezzing them to slow them down so that I can get the 8-12 second luls stun that kids hate so much.

The topic that Liberty decided to discuss was how my OP'd mezzes lasted 8-12s (which can only be the melee stun that can not be used in conjunction with a mez in the previous 10s on the target), not how I hold someone for 4-8s and then run up and trow a TF at them, yes that's easy but not always as effective.

    Say what kid?

Ok I know how TUFF it is to shrak, trow psi or play regin but if you actually took the time to understand how to play a non-cookie cutter toon that to get my "super duper powered" stuns I have to lolmelee stun someone, if you get melee stunned whos fault is that? Don't you guys have 150 ft range? While all the other villains in zone risk ruining these "OP" mezzes I dont see blasters primary being harmed by random acts of regins or tanks. What you should do is be asking me for tips on how to play a non-easymode toon, "Man, you mean you have to hold off from mezzing the target, try to catch them and tag them with a 3.5s animating attack all timed so that someone else doesnt randomly throw out a mez attack at the target and ruin the whole thing". I think the problem with people like you is that you find no talent in the game because you play talentless toons. How hard is it to have crazy range and push 4 buttons whilest placating someone during this so that they can't attack back while the rest of the delayed damage all of which is real fast and hits real high finally lands.

I've been playing my mind/nrg dom since villains came about, I've pvp'd with it back before i12 when all i had to do was hit hold 2 times and i could hold a tank even with all of his mez resistances for 2 minutes thanks to powerboosted domination holds. So cry me a river about what you will about this pvp, pushing a button twice and holding the most unmezzable toons for 2 minutes seemed a wee bit easy to me so I love the challenge of having to melee stun someone to actually get use out of this crap mez system where EVERYONE has a mez.

Someone that doesn't have a concept of how the mez system works and what you have to do to bend it to your favor should just keep their mouth shut and stick to spamming will dom placates. I'll tell you what, why don't you get off of your stalker or psi blaster and give a mind/nrg a try in zone and try to get off your most effective attack without someone chucking rocks and placates at your face and tell me how you do.
