  1. One thing I'm curious about... people say things like "I'm going to respec out of my travel power and just use Ninja Run!"

... But does it become unavailable in situations where Temp Powers are disabled? (Master TF/SF runs, Ouroboros challenges, etc.)

At least one developer has stated that more beast and animal heads would make a good theme for a Mutant Booster in the past. I kinda doubt there'll be "moving tails" in it, but I wouldn't complain.

At least, not until the "yiffing" started... then I'll be terminating anyone who owns one with extreme prejudice.

At HeroCon I believe Positron said the next pack was going to be a ninja-themed pack for Natural characters. (But I wasn't there, so I don't know first-hand. )

Almost every costume piece that isn't skin-tight will clip with SOMETHING you can put on your character. Several of the existing jacket and robe options will have clipping issues if you mess with the body sliders too much, so it's not like this is a new problem or anything. Their rule has always been to give players costume pieces if they don't clip with about 90% (or more) of the existing costume options.

Also, I'm going to have to disagree with you when you said that the Boosters have been going downhill since the Magic one. I bought it for the Tarot Card power and am only using the costume pieces on one character. Same with the Cyborg set: I'm not using the auras on ANY characters, and the costume pieces on just a few, and I haven't used Self Destruct since the day I got it--I just wanted to be able to do the robot dance. The Science one I bought and haven't used any of the features to this day, including the body resizing option at the tailor.

On the other hand, I'm going to get plenty of use from the boots, gloves and shoulder pieces introduced in the Martial Arts Booster. I have a Grav/Kin Controller that's a 14 year old boy obsessed with ninjas, and he's going to LOVE the robes and the smoke bomb costume change, not to mention the Ninja Run combined with Siphon Speed and Inertial Reduction. My main character is a Katana/SR Scrapper, and he's going to rock out the Ninja Run power and will have the Chinese Broadsword on at least one costume.

As far as I'm concerned, this is THE BEST Booster released so far.
  7. I seem to recall nVidia having some issues with overheating on the 8800s shortly after they were released. Whether it's part of that issue or an isolated one, it sounds like you're having similar problems to the 7600 I lost last summer when it started to burn up.

You might want to open your case and ensure the fan on the card is spinning, and that it's not clogged with too much dust. (In my case, a tuft of dog fur got stuck in the fan and kept it from spinning, which led to toasty-town. )
  8. The above are all available for Broadsword as well.

I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like Katana users only get access to the Chinese Broadsword.

This is untrue, there was no gameplay time included with any of the Super Boosters.

You might be thinking of the fact that adding the CoH: Architect Edition to an existing account would give you a month of play time plus your choice of either Super Booster I: Cyborgs or Super Booster II: Magic.

    Edit: WOOT! 1000th post!

Really it's just that BABs is an animating god, so anything we get with new animations gets talked about for days.

Ehhhh. That comes across as angrier than I intended to sound... maybe this instead?

Yeah, that's about right... Please Mr. BABs, Mr. Sexy Jay, give the Katana users some lovin' too?

Positron said they were going to try to do that to make up for some of the fallout from the Issue 14 badge apocalypse, but that it might not be possible for them to do so.

After that, the devs kinda went silent on the subject, so either it's planned as an upcoming feature in an issue they can't talk about yet, or they found they were unable to make it work.
  14. Wow, that kinda came out of nowhere.

... That didn't stop me from purchasing it already, though. >_>

Here's the "box art" on the NCSoft store site:
  15. Also, to the OP:

You might be interested to hear that Super Booster IV: Martial Arts was released today.
  16. I'm a 66 month vet now, and it honestly wouldn't bother me if they made the vet costume pieces available as craftable recipes that new players have the option of earning as drops or purchasing via the market on a per-character basis, but will continue to be unlocked as Vet Rewards on an account-wide basis on the current schedule.

Start with the standard Angel and Demon wings and then make all costume pieces beyond that (except the Arachnos helmets, since they were preorder bonuses) available as recipe drops.
  17. Patience, Robotic one. The testing won't start for another two hours and twenty minutes.
  18. Looks like I need to get back to revamping my Dr. Brainstorm arc... though I warn you, Aeon, Dr. B mentions in it that he doesn't think too highly of you. I believe the word "charlatan" was used.
  19. Clip fed sawed-off shotgun with pistol grip.

Desert Eagle with some crazy trimmings.

Was going to add the Taurus Judge as well, but it looks pretty similar to the Magnum Revolver already in-game.

Oh? Did BABs take on the next Ninja Gaiden/Dead or Alive game as a side project?

    AE suggestion

[Ussop]Aarrrrrrrgh, my "wall of text" disease is acting up![/Ussop]

First of all, your suggestion would be impossible to implement without redesigning the whole Mission Architect process. And given what you're trying to accomplish, it sounds more like you'd rather have separate storage for arcs and custom mobs anyway (as noted in your final line), which is probably possible but still improbable and not really necessary.

Second, I'd like to bring your attention to some information gained during HeroCon last month: the space per MA arc will soon be increasing to at least double the 100K they currently give us. To my knowledge, there's no word on whether we'll be able to include more than 5 missions per arc, but that means we'll be able to include more custom NPCs per arc easily. (It could also be paving the way for eventual customization of custom NPC powersets, but that's just my own speculation).

Third, you are no longer limited to just having three arcs per character. You can purchase up to five more storyarc slots for a total of 8 player-controlled slots. This does also does not include slots that are freed up by achieving a Dev's Choice or Hall of Fame award.

Finally, before someone like the infamous Venture comes in and says it less politely... if you really feel the need to pump THAT MANY custom NPCs into an arc, you should re-evaluate what you're trying to accomplish with that arc. If you just want a place to showcase and beat up all your custom critters, that's great, but don't expect other players to be thrilled with the mission even if you are. To keep other players excited and interested in your arcs, you should always try to give a reason why the enemies are there and why you need to defeat them.

And of course, visit the Mission Architect section of the forums and read some guides about building balanced custom groups and enemies, and test your creations as many times and with as many alts and varied teammates as you can.

Why do you need a "fun distraction in game?" I thought the whole point of playing a game to begin with was for a fun distraction in life? When did we reach the point where we needed to be entertained while being entertained?

Nah, I actually get what you mean, I'm just bustin' yer stones.

If one or more devs don't have anything better to do (unlikely given the amount of work Going Rogue will require for the next 6 months and quite probably beyond), then sure, throw the collectible card game into CoH... but in Pocket D instead of the arenas.

Have a vendor that sells booster packs and a "collector" NPC that will buy and sell specific cards at inflated prices. Make them tradeable and salable on the market. Have tournaments that require a buy-in and play for a pool of inf.

But please, for the love of all things holy, don't tie badges to the card game. I love badges, but I haaaaaaate collectible card games.
  24. My vet reward suggestion is a summonable kiosk like the portable invention table that connects you to the market interface from anywhere, and is usable by anyone nearby.

This would be especially handy for teaming in coop zones like RWZ and Cimerora, where exiting the zone to hit the market kicks you from a coop team.
