Bonus help: If you want to do all the moral choice arcs, you'll need to disable XP at levels 9, 14 and 19 so you don't outlevel them.
-
Quote:You get more XP from taking out more low level mobs than fewer high level mobs, simply because they can be defeated faster.I definitely do that (reading arcs, having fun, etc.) but leveling is fun! Maybe I've taken the wrong approach, maybe I need higher level mobs but less of them?
And NuclearToast is correct; the amount of XP to level is not linear in this game, and each level is supposed to take longer than the last to achieve. It's been said that it takes as long to get from 40 to 50 as it does to get from 1 to 40 (though my perception is that it's not quite that long). -
"We were gonna call it 'Peterland,' but that gay bar down by the airport already took it..."
So far my usage of the whole AT proliferation thing has been pretty unimaginitive. I've made a gold Dark/Dark Brute that's going to be a villain. I've made a gold Fire/Kin Controller that's going to be a hero (but with a foray to the Isles so I can unlock the Patron Pools). I've got the basic idea for a Kin Melee/Energy Aura Brute that will be a villain, but I haven't really had time for that yet.
I guess I've also got a gold Dual Blades/Ninjutsu Stalker who will be a hero, and an Elec Control/Kin Controller who will end up as either a vigilante or rogue, probably the latter... -
Not great. There's not a lot to choose from at 11:00 PM on a Sunday night, so we couldn't be terribly picky with team builds.
Anyway, sorry Rox, I have a weekly obligation on Monday that keeps me out of the game... but if for some reason you need to try again tomorrow, I can bring my Grav/Kin again.
(He's not a badge character, so I'm not really looking for the rewards; I'm just offering my services.) -
Quote:As Halfflat mentioned, it actually translates to "Rikimaru of the Dark Winds," which is still pretty awesome.1. Would Yamikaze no Rikimaru translate into Rikimaru of the Black Wind well enough?
Quote:2. Would Shinikaze no Rikimaru translate into Rikimaru of the Death Wind well enough? ...
I would like to avoid using "shinigami" itself just because it's too popular a concept and I wouldn't want to take the easy road of cashing in on it. There's a certain level of pride I hold for coming up with unique concepts, even when they're not nearly as unique as presented. The main point is to have a name and a look that doesn't make people go "Oh, you mean like that other thing?" Death Note's shinigami, Bleach's shinigami and Soul Eater's shinigami make the concept too popular for me to use as original work.
(And despite what Mack said, there is no hard and fast rule for swapping a K for a G in a compound word; Ks and Gs are actually the same base "letter" in Japanese, with Gs being denoted by an accent mark to the top right of the character that looks like a quotation mark: " ).
Benikaze is another excellent suggestion. It sounds pretty bad-@$$ to me! -
Haven't seen this one mentioned yet:
Owls = Seers -

Quote:It depends on what you want to mean by "ghost." Reikaze means "spirit wind," which isn't wrong, but "rei" has a "good" connotation to it.I have a Fire/Dark Corruptor named "Ghost Wind" in Japanese.
I didn't want to go through all the research to mke sure my grammar is correct, so I just went ahead and named him Reikaze. There are several words that translate loosely to "ghost", I picked the one I liked the sound of the best.
I figured that if kamikaze means "divine wind" and kurokaze means "black wind" then Reikaze would mean "ghost wind". It may or may not be grammatically correct, but it's good enough for me, and it was available, which Kurokaze was not.
If you want to sound evil, then you'd probably be more interested in using the more sinister "obake" ghost as a root, for "Bakekaze," the Monstrous Wind. Alternately, he could be a "kazebake," a wind ghost, but that comes across as more of him being a type of ghost rather than a proper name.
Of course, then his goofy teenage hero nemesis would "accidentally" call him "Bakakaze" instead, causing him to lose his cool and make a stupid mistake. ... God I watch too many cartoons... >: /
... Okay, that's all the Japanese my brain can handle tonight... @_x -
Quote:Bleach, of course, has the character/zanpakuto named "Shinikaze," or "the wind of death." I think it's intended to mean "the reaping wind" or "the wind that reaps," given the weapon design. If you just want a name that uses kanji for wind and murder, 殺 can be read Ayame or Satsu as a name, and 風 can be read Fuu, Fuuka, Hayashi, Fuwari, Gaifuu, Kaza and Kaze.
Edit: Actually, I thought about it some more and realized I had that name backwards. The dude/weapon's name is "Kazeshini," but I believe the intent is still to mean "the wind that reaps." -
Quote:If I heard that used as a name, I'd immediately think "black wind" and think nothing was weird or wrong with it. (Granted, that's just my 3½ years of Japanese, taken in college 8 years ago talking...) I'm rusty, but it makes sense. If anyone speaks Japanese or is otherwise able to confirm this, what, if anything, does "Kazeguro" end up meaning?
I would NOT use "guro" as the first segment; K's make G sounds only when they follow a vowel sound. If you start a word with it, it's just going to sound weird to someone who speaks Japanese. (Not that you'll run into many of them, but...) Anyway, have you ever watched Bleach or Death Note? There are characters known as "shinigami" in them--death gods. The individual words are "shinu" (the verb "to die") and "kami" (god). When combined, the K in "kami" becomes a G, so it can flow off the tongue better.
You could use "Kokukaze" instead, as pointed out by Righter. "Kokufuu" is a little weak as a name. "Fuu" is more like air or a light breeze (or the sound of someone blowing out of their mouth), whereas "kaze" is a force of nature. It's up to your personal preference on that, though.
Quote:And provided it's gibberish, how can I formulate a name which comes off meaning "blood wind," in the sense of wind made of or tainted with blood? -
Quote:"Saiminjutsu" means hypnotism. That'd probably work. "Saimin o kakeru" means to hypnotize.I do not know "Mind control" in Japanese... And frea it would probably be in Katakana.
Alternatively, "shihai (suru)" means to control via domination. "Kokoro" means "the center of thoughts and emotions" (though it's used in anime a lot to refer to a love-stricken girl's heart) and "chisei" means intellect. "Kokoro/chisei no shihaisuru?"
Quote:Heroine.. Eiyuu is Hero, so Eiyuuko could be a feminine version of hero. "Herogirl"
"Saimin o kaketa joketsu no kutsujoku" would translate back to "humiliation of the hypnotized heroine."
Edit: Not that there was anything particularly wrong with Rachel's version. I'm just giving alternatives. -
Quote:My priorities generally go: Family, Friends, Job, Video Games (not just CoH), Health. In that order. Yeah, I should probably put my health above video games, but working out is boring and it huuuuurts. ;_;Keep doing the things you like to do, and someone will come along that also likes to do those things. Just don't be placing the game at the top of your priorities. God, Family, Job, CoH? CoH is a great game, but should it really be that high? It all depends on you.
(I do it anyway a minimum of twice a week.) -
I gotta agree with Viv... I love the sight of a woman in a flannel nightie or bathrobe.

Every "hunt" takes 30 minutes. There's 15 minutes of daylight, where we kill every ghost we can get our hands on, and 15 minutes of night time when we search for the invisible S.O.B.
As 3D said, he might not show the first time, in which case you'll be just in time for round 2. -
Ah, yeah, that's exactly the thread I was searching for. I think the way they're doing things currently is a pretty good idea, but I am sorry it disappoints you, Bill.

The devs specifically said they weren't looking to add Dual Pistols to any of the existing groups like they did with the other new powersets (the Hellions get a Demon Summoner, the Freakshow get an Electric Controller and the Tsoo get a Kinetic Melee boss) because it doesn't really fit the feel of any current groups. They did, however, give Dual Pistols powers to plenty of Resistance pistoliers.
I do like the idea of making a PPD/RIP lieutenant with a riot shield and a baton, though. Maybe give them a taser as a ranged weapon, instead of the standard pistol? That'd be pretty sweet, and it'd help to toughen up an otherwise weak and spongy enemy group.
Not particularly keen on the Electric Control gremlin boss idea, though. Sorry. -
Even though i19 is supposed to be super-small and be out within the next two months?

Quote:I'm sure you've already seen this by now, but:The emboldened portion (added by me for emphasis) has never been stated. In fact, I'm pretty sure that you'll see one slot over the course of 10 issues, for a total of 10 slots, with each new slot introducing some sort of content related to the slot. Especially since the 1st slot is called Alpha and the last one is called, of course, Omega.
Quote:I think our mistake was in communication. We communicated to you that we had designed 10 Incarnate Levels. We designed 10 levels to make sure we would have enough content and system to meet your demands. We likely should have only announced 3 or 4, hindsight being 20/20. Will there be more? Probably. We want to see how the first ten go so when we design the next set we can iterate on it. -

The economy in CoH is a lot smaller than that of the United States, GB. If the majority of the ebil marketeers really go through with this, I think it actually might put a dent in the market inflation, at least until the influence level is brought back up by people through the course of playing the game.
But then again, the only class I've ever failed was entry-level economics in college (which gave out 95% A's)... and then I got a C in Aggricultural Economics... so my opinion here isn't exactly worth much. >_>
Anyway, nobody's asking you to give up your inf, so don't worry about what they do with theirs. -

QR to the OP:
My main character is from a dimension other than Paragon/Primal Earth (whichever you prefer to call it). He arrived in Paragon by accident, but saw how in need of help it was and worked along side the other heroes to keep the city safe, all while working with Portal Corp to try and find a way back home.
The Paragon version of him is a lowly computer tech for one of Portal Corp's business offices. He thinks the extradimensional hero version of himself is pretty much a doofus. (The hero version thinks the same about him.)
The version of him that "comes from" Praetoria is also not originally of that dimension--he never existed there, because his parents were presumably killed in the Hamidon Wars before he was born. In an interesting twist that ties in to the topic of the thread, the one that accidentally ended up in Praetoria crossed paths with the Praetorian Infernal, who tortured him and stripped his soul away, making him little more than a puppet.

And to all the people discussing the possibility of alternate Rikti Earths using the whole multiple Statesmen argument, don't give the developers too many ideas... I don't want to fight a Rikti M'rkus Coh'l anytime soon. -
Awww, that's sweet Mr. MP. And happy birthday, Mrs. MP.
