I think it's funny how mad some folks get at changes that aren't all even announced yet. So what if they take a power here or there and swap it... learn to deal with it. I mean, did the concept of flexibility disappear while I wasn't looking? It's not like any character will be "perfect" anyway; there is (and always will be) room for improvement on all characters. Why do you think people argue ad infinitum about slotting and power choices on practically every power combination, hmmmm? Because everyone has a different (and in most cases), just as good and valid way of doing things.

Brilliant. I wish I could frame this and stick it on the top of the forums.

Yeah right... Come here talking about flexibility when my Shuriken will have become a stupid toggle that isnt attacking anything...

Before going completely over the edge on this issue, everyone, why don't we just wait for the beta to start so we can see exactly what's being changed, determine the effects of those changes and present validated, justified concerns to Castle. I'm no more excited about losing some of my favorite APP/EPP powers than anyone else, but until I actually know which powers are being removed, and what the replacements are, there's no point getting upset over it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mmm...k... The kitten will live... For now... *shrugs* -
And by the way, while at it, instead of even considering removing patron powers, why havent devs considered just fixing them and strenghtening some of them instead?
And if darn Focus Acc is soooo much popular and so much wanted by hardcore players then how the hell arent devs noticing that it is simply overpowered compared to whatever else is offered? And the first idea they come up with is to even further spread the disease to other epic pools?
You gotta be kidding me! -
Everytime the game is losing a cool animation, its a big loss for the game. Removing some epic powers will probably remove forever some flashy powers players could see and enjoy during a fight.
In CoH near future : Every characters above level 41 will be seen running around with the little target reticle of Focus Accuracy power. That will be THE FX left in game. Good job!
I swear that if devs remove my Ghost Widow ST Hold where the target is turning around floating in the air, i will, i REALLY will kill a kitten!

The Weapons Pool is one of my favorites, I sure hope I don't lose any powers from it due to the addition of Focused Accuracy.
[/ QUOTE ]
According to the podcast, they're looking at flat out replacing roughly 20% of the APP powers, and Castle did clarify that the powers absolutely will be replaced, not grandfathered, not added as a fifth power in the pools. Powers will be removed from the APPs, new powers put in their places, and as soon as you log in after the patch goes live, if you have a power that was replaced, that power will be gone, the replacement power will be there instead.
I'll wait to see what powers are actually going to be removed, and what their replacements will be, before raising a ruckus, but I am more than a little concerned already. I like my unpopular APP powers, I don't look forward to losing them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seriously, if removing powers just to put a copycat of another epic power is what they intend to do then thats not good. We are losing variety and choices. Whats the point?
Replacing 20% of every epic powers? Thats crazy. You can be sure that many people will be pissed off. There were as many players that liked their epic pet, throwing sharks, aoe immobs, ST holds as there were people not liking them.
So what? The wheel is just turning and the unsatisfied players now get their candy and the ones that were happy will see their powers replaced by FOTM Focus Accuracy crap and such... Great... Brilliant..

You missed two points, Zombie:
1) If the updated War Mace overperforms, Castle thinks it'll more likely be because of Crowd Control's max number of targets, and not because of the change to Clobber.
2) As one example of the Epic/Patron changes, Castle mentions that Weapon Mastery for Scrappers will now include Focused Accuracy. If his memory is correct.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh man that sucks! Scrappers that wanted Focus Acc already could get it in another pool!
Now we will end up with epic pools having in them the same powers? Thats bs imho.
My ninja scrapper likes his caltrops and both shuriken attacks.

All joking aside - it was said elsewhere that Power Balancing changes wouldn't affect PvE at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think either what you read was incorrect or you misunderstood. I'm quite certain the PVE specific changes that were made for I13 will affect PVE, while 95% of the PVP changes have no effect on PVE (I say 95% to hedge my bets, actually.)

This is becoming really annoying...
I will never attend to any conventions since you guys will probably never do one in Montreal. Cant you guys think of another way to give temp powers to players?
To be blunt, this sucks big time!

What is stopping you from saying "Hey, great idea. I like it. I have nothing to really add other than to show you that you're not alone in what you want"?

Anyone knows where we can find the "I disagree" post Pax made that was like one mile long of PC red tape? I think that version of saying "No" will once again be required lol
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure why anyone thinks this should be acceptable.
Do you really think that the correct distinction should be how many words you use to say "no"?
I think they've stated pretty clearly that simply saying "yes" or "no" isn't enough. They don't want people to post such things. They want people to post "yes, because..." and "no, because..."
A show of support or dissent isn't sufficient - they don't want people just showing support or dissent. They're saying the process isn't a vote or a poll.
You may not like that. It rankles me to an extent, but I recognize that as an irrational reaction because I want to feel that it's a democratic process. The reality is that it's not. If the devs want to poll for opinion, they actually have the tools to do that - they're called polls.
Using radically flowery verbiage to say nothing more than "yes" or "no" should be slapped just as hard as saying "yes" or "no". Especially when you consider that it's specifically a smart-alec attempt to skirt the rules and look cool doing it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Does saying "No, because i said so." is good enough then? My parents used to say that all the time. So blame them for my bad habit.

I think the rules could be summarised by the phrase, "Play nice."
Seems fair to me.

Asking villains to play nice even on a message forum is an outrage imho.
What this board need is more emotions more blood and more chaos to be entertaining. Hey look at the TV stations, they learned that years ago -

I'm not mad at them- I'm just mad about certain things. I understand that there are people taking advantage of it, I played World of Warcraft for a long time. I, personally, didn't see it much, but maybe it was the server I was on, or the times, or me being a lower level.
Overall, I think it should be thought through again, and some things tweaked.

I think you should buy an account and pay for one month. At worse youll lose 15$ which is barely the money for two drinks in a nightclub. -
*spoilers*
I had not logged on Test server during Open Beta so everything was fresh new to me when i played this afternoon.
As soon as i got to Cimerora i could join a team doing the task force. It was very epic. I found some of the missions to last a little too long but overall it was very entertaining. I really got surprised when we stumbled on the nazis! I wasnt expecting them to show up in this TF. The last AV with the 3 nictus really was an epic battle. We were all new and didnt know how to handle it. We thrown everything we had on them. Shivans, Mary, pets, nukes, etc... It was extremely hard and i think we would never have win if we didnt succeeded to pull AV away from Nictus so they stop healing him. It got really crazy when he raised from death and we had to do it all over again! It was the chaos but we did it! We killed him 4 times and we won!
Tf duration was about 2:30 hours and i think that wasnt bad. Killing 300 traitors went faster than i thought. A nice TF, not the TF i like the most but its a nice addition and i should redo it very soon.

Voice chat is quickly becoming a requirement for any MMO. It is just far too convenient to just talk rather than typing everything out. It is just a fact of life we'll have to accept. The days of being able to type out instructions over ooc chat like we did when raiding Fear and Hate in Everquest are long gone. It is just nice to see PlayNC also capitalizing on integrated voice chat for their launcher.
[/ QUOTE ]
A requirement? You got to be kidding me! I have nothing against people who like using voice chat but i doubt it will ever become a "standard" for MMO.
Maybe you havent notice but more than half the planet doesnt speak english by the way. If i was to be forced to join a voice channel to play a game then that means that you would have to listen to my french all the time. Until there are universal translators, i doubt everyone would get along fine on "voice MMO".
Beside that, it wouldnt be much immersive when the sexy heroine fighting alongside you would reply to you using "voicechat" with a very manly male teenager voice
Just saying... -

What is with you people's twisted desire to beat up, shoot, stab, burn, and electrocute women? Did you never get over your High School sweetie dumping you? Did your father beat you as a child? Did your mother ignore you? Seek some therapy. Seriously.

Why would you prefer injuring men? Are men deserving more to be electrocuted than women? Are you saying that men arent equal with women? That's your logic?
You go seek some therapy. Seriously. -

TLDR
I hope its an April Fool's joke seriously.
While i like the idea to have the option to have these KA-POW appear on the game screen, i am definitely not liking the idea to play in a City Of Silence.
Even after 4 years i still play with the CoH music and sounds and i like them. Not having any game sounds anymore would really be a deal-breaker for me. I understand the concept of comic books and stuff but nothing forces a hero game to look exactly like comics. If it was just me there would be VOCALS in this game and even more sounds...
Anyway, i hope its only an option or a funny joke -
As an exclusively PvE players i am very glad to see all these new possibilities added to Heroes and Villains. I cant wait to make an Axe brute, a Storm MM, a Fire scrapper, a Cold defender and a Psi blaster!
Thank you devs! Its gonna be fun! -

I can has mish doors not 2 miles across the zone when I level 5?
[/ QUOTE ]
That is indeed a problem. And not only in the Hollows. Devs really should look again at pretty much every mission locations given by the "legacy" origin contacts. Still many missions sending you in hazard zones, in higher level zones, etc.... Also many missions sending you very far away in the same zone often in red areas with mobs above your level.
Anyway, revamping Hollows wasnt a bad idea. Even for veteran players, it was really annoying to run 2.4 miles to get to a mission door when considering that soloing that mission was to take only 10 minutes... What a waste of time it was.
Im also glad that there will be soloable spawns near the entrance. -
Kinetics for Scrappers plz!!!! The hell with my defences, ill transfusion myself and fulcrum meh!!!

Biggest reason i cant sell CoH to some of my buddies simply is that they are not willing to pay two monthly fee to play online games.
So, since they could only afford one monthly fee then they decided to play WoW because fantasy-medieval setting was more appealing to them. It's that simple. I was tired of AD&D and such, so i started playing CoH for a change. But like my buddies, i am not willing to pay two monthly fees so i will not play WoW for as long as i keep subscribing to CoH.
The SuperHero theme seem less popular than the fantastic/fantasy/medieval theme overall... That cant be helped.. -
So basically, this proposal would decrease the efficiency of To Hit Buffs? ( I am not very great at maths )
If To Hit Buffs really get lowered i am concerned that i will have a very very hard time when fighting enemies that heavily use To Hit Debuffs. Nerva Spectral Demons and stuff like that are a real pita once you are debuffed. The only char i have who seem to hit them reliably is my SS tanker with Rage on.
I find it really irritating that my scrapper attacks that are slotted with 3 Acc SOs simply cannot overcome To Hit Debuffs while my tanker is nailing them just fine with only Rage and 21% global IO accuracy running.
If To Hit Buffs are to get nerfed then i strongly suggest that To Hit Debuffs potency also be looked at. -

I disagree.
- Just look at the number of missions in the typical TF: hours of content for the average player.
- Just look at the fact that there is a minimum number to start it.
- Just look at the fact that you can't use normal contacts during it.
- Just look at the fact that they typically end with AVs.
This is obviously not content that was intended for the average PUG.
As I said before, the Devs may want TFs to change to be intended for average PUGs. If so, THAT would be a change, and a lot more than soft spawning would need to change to accomodate that.
That does not meed that there does not also need to be hardcore content.
[/ QUOTE ]
If TF/SF arent intended to be casual player ( which are many PuG players ) then Devs need to adress the way pool C/D recipes are being awarded because these recipes are obviously wanted by most of the playerbase which cause a big demand for them on the market.
It is already problematic that the "normal" players tend to wait to be around level 50 to IO themselve out simply because they cant afford the money to buy the rare recipes that are avaialble around level 20s but that they are so rare that only millionnaire level 50s can afford the cost. For me it right there scream "there is something wrong with how this works".
