An elementalist MM heroside would be fun! Earth, air, fire, water.
-
I took and Earth/Kin to 50 last year.
It was a blast. Slot the single immob and the single hold for damage, and take air superiority if for some additional damage if you solo much. Air Sup works like a charm and does great containment damage with speedy recharge out of the box.
Soloing her wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It was slow, but steady, and the def debuff in the earth powers helps those vet attacks land great.
I took an Ice/Thermal to 41 and just really couldn't make myself like the Ice Primary. But that's a personal affinity more than a comment on the set. I found the stone pet much better than Jack by a mile. -
Make sure you also take Recall Friend so you can position the corpse you plan to boom!
A buddy Ice/Rad Troller of mine used to do that and get some amazing results.
He'd also Vengance off them before Fallout for a nice double whammy! -
I've run a Grav/Emp up through the 40s so far and it is a great combo. I can't imagine that Thermal would be that much different. You'll be able to have a Singy with ridiculous amounts of damage resistance if you buff it with the shields, and you can increase his damage with Forge. Should be fun!
The nice thing about pairing Grav with a healing support secondary is that Singy acts like a back up troller while you drop combat periodically to heal and buff the team. -
I'd say Earth/Kin. Great controls. Great and highly desired Team Buffs.
-
I asked about this 2 weeks ago in my Pixie Warrior thread.
So far Lace Wing is level 39, and only drops hover to summon an Oro Portal or to use Rest. I went with Kat/SR so that I'd have the added flight speed increase from Quickness.
It is totally viable to hover during a fight and a ton of fun. Nothing like using a cone while floating over the baddies and hitting just about every mob in the group, even some standing behind you! -
The most recent Fire/Thermal discussion is just a few posts down here.
-
Unfortunately, Swift and Quickness only take generic IOs, at least according to Mids.
-
I just soft capped and dinged 50 on my Claws/SR and it was worth every penny! I literally can not stop playing her.
Claws/SR may just be the cure to Altaholism that Ive so desperately sought over the many years of playing CoH.
Take all the raves about this combination and multiply them by 10 million gazillion percent. It is just that good. -
Thanks for the suggestions Minotaur. I appreciate it and am tweaking the build with them.
I was thinking on the drive to work this morning that I could drop DA and caltrops to put in aid self. GMTA! -
Acidon, there are several ways that character ideas come to me.
I wanted to try Fire/Radiation Controller and tried to figure out a way those two powers might be on a single hero. First thing that came to mind was the Sun. So "Solaria" was born.
When Dual Blades was added to the game, I was watching an old Xena rerun and thought an Amazon could be a fun character. So I made Queen of the Amazons. Not my first name choice, since several of the variations I tried were taken.
Sometimes I'll come up with a name and go from there, or i'll just play with the costume creator until I find a look I like, then decide what type of hero or AT she'd fit.
You can try out superhero name generators or the thesaurus for inspiration too. -
Ok, here's my first pass using some of my Claws/SR template as a starting point.
I have three of the Armageddon's and the Numina's Unique already in storage so not too worried about the cost. The LotG recharges are something that I can add in over time.
Any critique is welcome! Thanks in advance!

So with my search-fu, it would seem that using the default slot in Swift with a Fly enhancer is optimal since the power doesn't increase flight speed nearly as much as it enhances run speed.
If I reroll as SR, would it be worth slotting one Flight enhancer along with one Run Speed? -
So, I've been wanting to make a little Fairy Winged blade using scrapper for ages. I rolled her up as a Kat/Invuln and got her to 17, but here's my dilema.
She looks so cute when she hovers while in melee, I'm starting to wonder if I could put together a build that would make perma hover combat viable. With the increase in melee range a few months ago, and the recent increase in hover speed, do you guys think it would possible?
I'd be replacing Combat Jump with Hover in her build. I'm not wild about the higher end cost for hover compared to combat jump, but I still think for the concept it could be fun.
I'm also debating rerolling her as Kat/SR to add quickness for additional hover/flight speed. I'm not sold to using Invuln, and I'm not exactly happy with the Invuln graphics covering up her cute little costume and wings.
Any of you guys ever try a hovering scrapper or have any experience with friends doing it?
I've got a soft capped Claws/SR and love the pairing. I'm guessing that Kat/SR or even BS/SR would be just as effective. -
I just got my Claws/SR soft capped, and I think I can say without a doubt, that she is the most fun hero I've ever played.
Thanks to all the posters here on the Scrapper boards for the huge amount of info and discussion. It will be very hard to play the rest of my scrappers after getting Clawmark all decked out. -
Thanks for starting this thread! I started a baby Kat/Invuln last week, and there some great food for thought in this thread.
For those of you playing this power combo, are you using the Tanker Invuln Guide that soft caps def/resist as a starting point? -
I'd planned to use three HO Enzymes, but once I'd purchased two, I got an Achilles' Heel drop so thought I'd try it in the third slot.
It seems to proc pretty often, and when stacked with Enervating Field, it is a nice chunk of resist debuffed, and I don't use Radiation Infection nearly as often as I do EF.
My end cost is increased a bit without the third slotted HO, but so far it has been a fair trade off since I was tight on slots to get recharge and recovery bonuses into my template. -
Here's the build I've been using for a few months. I got it from these boards and tweaked it a wee bit so that I had Mutation and Recall Friend for when she teams.
I'm very very happy with this build. Hope it gives you some ideas.
The only IOs I still haven't slotted are the Numina and Miracle uniques because I've farmed cash and drops to IO three characters since slotting Solaria, and didn't want to have to worry about getting them when my end management is very good currently. Though having those two uniques would make her unstoppable.
The HOs cost me 30 million for the two enhancers, but it was well worth it.

Getting my Psi/MM blaster to 50 was very close to the most fun, if not the most fun, I've had playing this game.
Fully IO'd out, she's a beast. -
I just hit 47 last night on my Fire/Thermal gal, and I've been agonizing for the last three days if I want to IO her or not.
Playing her can be fun, but overwhelming in a big group. It reminds me of my old days in Dark Age of Camelot playing a Midgard Healer. They were the primary Crowd Control AND the primary Healer for their realm and it required a huge amount of skill and attention to play the character well.
Playing a Fire/Thermal Controller feels to me like trying to juggle two Primary Power Sets at once. Add to that the frequent dunder-headed fire imp pulling unwanted aggro, and it can be a lot to handle.
Anyway, whilst I agonize over doing the IO template for her, I've been toying around with one, since I've yet to see anyone post a Fire/Thermal IO build.
This is a rough work in progress.
Any criticism? Any tweaks? Any donations?

Explanation: I have the Numina's Unique, the two Purples, and several of the Posi Blasts already. I just finished IO'ing out my Psi/MM Blaster a little over a month ago, so this tossed together with a budget in mind. I have no interest in trying to acquire any more Basilisk's Gazes for my holds, having spent months getting two sets for my Fire/Rad.
Since Fire/Thermal is very end intensive, I was going for a balance of recovery, regen, some status resists, and accuracy fyi. -
I've been seeing this on Hasten on a number of my gals, and Practiced Brawler on my SR scrapper.
-
Sinnersaint, I hope you and your family had a wonderful weekend! I've been keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, hugs, and happy thoughts to you guys!
-
I'm praying they are removing email availability from trial accounts. That'd go a long way to stop the spammers, I'm sure.
Thanks for the update to let us know there are more fixes on the horizon for this problem. -
This was a classic! Thanks for the chuckles you silly dev type personages!
