  1. I am, as usual, squirreling away IO sets for future use, so my main request in the realm of bases would be for an enhancement storage bin. I know they're expensive, prestige-wise, but I'm happy to run in SG mode continuously. Inf is easy get, prestige less so. I'll flip Betty over to the Legends SG when it fires up, and will ask for some help transferring the IO sets I've already made to the Legends base when we get space for them.

Otherwise, Spectre's plan sounds solid. I was going to suggest Krylov myself, for the same reasons- his arcs give a giant heap of merits and feature villains unique to redside.

    See you all next Tuesday!
  2. Wheee!

Lots of fun! I think 12 folks showed up before we were through? Plus the occasional pick-up. Anyhow, 2 teams rocked hard, blasted through Mercy, got the temp fly in Oakes, and snagged the temp zombies from Mr. Bocor (at least some of us did- dunno if everyone got lucky on Bocor's first mission). I think we were all 8th at the end of the day and with the exception of the longbow apocalypse at the bank door, deaths were few.

At that rate, I expect we'll hit 12th next week, and I'll actually start slotting some enh. Who knows, Triage Beacon may actually start being useful!

There were some nice costumes and power colorizations out there tonight. I look forward to teaming with the folks I missed today and seeing your niftiness in action.
  3. Looks like I16 breaks next week, given the announcement about using your freespec.

I'm ready to rock on Tuesday if it hits then; how about everyone else?

    I Hate St0n3y

    Who are you again?

    for the sarcasm-impaired
  5. Crud, I took Burke. Oh well, I'll survive with a couple fewer merits.

If it goes live next Tuesday, are we firing up that evening?
  6. Now I'm curious- what's the KB tipping point where it goes from knockDOWN to knockBACK? One of the sweet improvements made to Mace over the years was when the KB in Shatter and Crowd Control got turned into K-Down. If you're slotting full KB sets to get the 7.5% recharge bonus, you're probably tripling the KB those attacks are doing. But if your total KB is only 2-3 pts, you may still be keeping the mobs close.

My Stone/Mace tank turns 5 this October, so I'm very familiar with the terrain you're staring at. The combo of Mud Pots and Taunt solves a lot of the KB issue, but I'm not sure how the build changes when you go Brute instead of Tank. Those may be powers you hadn't planned on taking, YMMV, etc.

There is no "led to believe". Anyone keeping Mids alive and current is definitely doing the Lord's Work!

Thank you, St0n3y! I'm off to give other people props so I can swoop around and give you more!
  8. Plus, I'll be Triage Beacon-ing and Force Field Generating. Traps looks like a good mix of buffage, de-buffage and blowin' stuff up. I'd say to play what you want and concentrate on having fun. That's all the difference in the world.
  9. OK, between that and the always-welcome 'no worries' attitude towards character types, I'll settle on the MM.

Betty VonBoopenstein, necro/traps MM will be available whenever we're ready to go. I have played neither set before, so I'm looking forward to it.

    Give!
    My Creations!
    LIIIIIIFE!!
    *boop-oopy-doop*
    /em nooo

And so my final free expansion slot gets used up. Fortunately, I've got another one coming along in two months.
  10. I've got at least 3 concepts burbling around in my head, one a brute, one a corrupter, and one a mastermind. So, my question is: How so serious?

The MM would be a cross between Betty Boop and Victor Von Doom, so, yeah... not very. The corruptor would pretty much be your standard 4-color "Hey, Kids! Comics!!" sorta villain, while the brute would be a tragic/serious type. I'd be happy playing any of them, but I don't want to harsh anyone's mood by playing to an inappropriate tone. So I thought I'd ask, first.
  11. I'm in!

I'm contemplating either a rad/pain corruptor, or a claws brute if Rock can't make it.

Hm, hm hm. Need to apply more thinking, but I'm definitely in.
  12. Shred,

I don't know how much you've acquired or still need, but I've got a couple hundred million I'm not really using right now on redside. I'd be happy to trade it to you 1 for 1 for blue inf. I'm working towards buying some purple recipes for the first time, so I could use the blueside boost as well.

You might've quoted the wrong poster there, Shadow.

I'm not the one telling you how to play your game.

I'm the one telling you you're naive for thinking this game about vigilantes won't attract people who act like vigilantes, who then tell you how to play your game.
  14. This is a game that allows you to play an urban vigilante who takes unilateral, violent action to thwart those whom you believe to be "doing wrong".

And people are somehow shocked or offended that a player of this game will take it upon himself to thwart other players whom he believes to be doing wrong? Really? Damn, where's the eyeroll emote when I need it?

You go, Prof. Live the dream!

I have 2 other observations about AE farms I'm going to make now, because apparently the obvious is hard to see from some perspectives:

    1) The irony of players in an MMORPG complaining about people devoting all their time to a VR simulation while ignoring the possibilities of the greater world around them is so thick that it can't be cut with a knife. You need a chainsaw.

    2) The only PvP with consequence in CoH is the minigame of getting other people's arcs banned. You want PvP? That's PvP, baby.
  15. I think if you complain about something, you need to say, 'Thank you,' when your complaint is addressed. So:

Thank you, devs! The fix to the server status page is much appreciated!

Also: woo! Post 2000! Eat my dust, Castle, with your paltry 1,999.
  16. I'll hit 60 in October, so I will likely qualify. But unless Beta hits over the winter break, I won't have much time to do any testing. Wonder if I can farm my spot out to someone who could actually use it?
  17. Because the unchanging report from late June that the servers are up isn't helping anyone.

What happened? Did the new forums somehow mess with the system, or what?
  18. Ahhh, that's it.

Thanks, folks. Off to Faultline, then.
  19. I seem to have become stuck at 137 smashed arachnos minions. Taking down more, either in scanner missions or in RV, does nothing to advance the counter. Is this a known issue, or should I report it somewhere?
  20. Huh, 4 pages so far and no mention of what I think is core advancement- more zones and contacts. As far as I'm concerned, the gold standard for an issue is a new zone with 4 contacts that culminates in a trial or TF: Hollows, Striga, Croatoa, RWZ, even the reworked Faultline, to a point. (That point being no TF)

We sort of got that with Cimerora, but it was stretched out over a couple of issues; first the TF, then contacts. However, the romanized Posi and GW are not the contacts the Senator promised me. Cimerora continues to have no zone-defining story that progresses to a conclusion in the ITF the way the other zones I mentioned do. There are no characters you can interact with who are affected by the conflict there, so there's nothing to hook players into caring about the place.

We've been getting a variety of nifty sidelines, mind you. And Going Rogue looks like it'll have plenty of new things to do. You can hardly color me unhappy.

But yeah, I'm really looking forward to new places to explore with a storyline wrapped around them.

Fixed that for you. I find the in-game email useful so I would like it to stay.
I certainly wouldn't mind some additional options, as long as I could choose to set them to work EXACTLY the way it does now.

What? Didn't you read the OP? If it's bothering him it must be ruining the game for you. Because... um... he's more patient and tolerant and less prone to start rants on the forums. Especially not a new thread for a topic that has come up once a week since i9.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much, yeah. I'm glad you agree with me. Welcome to this week's rant, it was my turn to start it- your turn's next week. Fight the power, brah!

I'd be happy with an opt-out too. But my point is mainly this: if a game system is so compromised by those using it for anti-game purposes, then it needs to be drastically altered or eliminated.

We're seeing a lot of other fundamental game-system shake-ups that were always tagged as unfeasible. I'd like to keep this possibility red-flagged for the devs as something that should be addressed as well.
  22. ...and finish the job the spammers have done on it.

Seriously, it has lost all usefulness as a player tool.

It's only impact on the gaming experience is as a method of intrusion into our gameplay by spammers. When was the last time you got an e-mail that wasn't spam? Heck, I don't think I've gotten more than 2 legitimate player e-mails in the 4 and a half years I've been playing. Spam? Pfft. Uncountable bucketloads.

And you know- when it's affecting *my* gameplay, it's got to be flat-out ruining the gameplay of people who are on playing for more than a couple of hours every 3 days.

Yeah, yeah, "We're working on it" blah blah blah.

    Just kill it.
  23. I had a very nice time this afternoon! Thanks to Gata for getting me in on the last available slot, even with my not having signed up beforehand. It's not often that I have a Saturday available for CoH, but it was a blast playing with you folks. Plus, our success got Tattered Man up to badge #550. Excellent leadership and extremely competent play all around. I hope I can find the time to join in again sometime soon.
  24. Whiniest guide ever.

You deserve a badge or something for that...
  25. I could cope with the occasional squeaky door in the Rogue Isles, where it makes sense.

It's when City Hall squeaks at me that I'm particularly perturbed.

That and the squeaky-pop sound of a closing door when I've just gone through an irising hatchway.

Does anyone know if the secret sliding stone doors squeak as well? I haven't tried those yet.
