Thank you for the clarification, Ocho!
Although, I was going to accept Arcanaville's assertion as being equivalent to a red-name's response.
It would be silly not to. -
Quote:Just for clarification, and I know others will ask this:
Does the 5% bonus mean the effect of the inspiration is increased by 5%, or does it mean 5% is added to the bonus outright? IE, does a 20% bonus from an inspiration become 21% (the former) or 25% (the latter)? -
As described in this article here
The upshot, if I have it correct, is that someone in EVE Online started up an investment scheme and then took the in-game currency he'd amassed and gave it away before quitting.
I know virtually nothing about EVE, but the idea of this is just sooooo ebil, I thought it needed to be posted here. Along with the appropriate pic:
I do have to say that I'm disappointed that the player who ran off with the dough was not named JoJo. -
Brrrrraaaaaaaainnssss!
And hey Slax! Get your own damn trademark, that one's mine! -
Yay, internet!
Sorta. Mostly. We've got connection again, and I was able to get in the game for a while last night until the lag sank me. So, still not fully up to speed yet.
As for sabbaticals, I can testify from immediately recent personal experience that an enforced absence from the game increases its appeal when you come back.
I'll be around as much as I can, and will be on next Tues (barring Verizon digging up our whole community's wires, which is not out of the realm of possibility at the moment). Hope to see folks there! -
Phone guy just finished here and we're back up to at least a spotty connection, with phones we can use (albeit with a pile of static).
Not only was it our line hosed, the whole batch of lines all cabled together are corrupted. Which means he couldn't just snip together a work-around cabling patch from our wire to a nearby set.
So, he's marked out the locations of the problem and has had to bump it up to the guys responsible for laying out new cable, who have access to a $10,000 tool that pinpoints where exactly in the cabling the problems are. They'll come in and put in new wires that'll solve the issue, but it'll take 24-48 hours to get everything running the way it should be.
Happy new year, eh?
:/
(Crossing fingers for tomorrow night!) -
Welp,
Our connectivity continues to degrade. I'm posting from a friend's house at the moment, as not only has our internet gone kablooey, but the phones are starting to follow along. In one sense, it's good to know I haven't accidentally pressed the wrong key and just turned things off. There really is a problem that wasn't user-generated.
In the more real sense, my phones are dead! Arg. I'll be reduced to walking around the neighboorhood soon. Ack! Outdoors! -
Gahhh!
Freakin' internet!
Folks a couple streets over were getting upgraded to FIOS (not here yet, naturally) and the Verizon people managed to deep six our whole neighborhood's connection.
We've been on spottily today after 2 days of zilch, and they say they'll have everything all fixed by the 4th of January. So that's 2 weeks I've managed to miss now. Grrr.
Sorry for the no-show guys. I'll be doing my best to make it come the new year! -
Wellllp,
My folks got in a day early for the holidays. It now looks very unlikely that I will make it tonight, as all the stuff we'd planned for tomorrow is happening today. If you guys don't see me by 8:10, I'm not making it.
Sorry to have to bail out like this, I thought they'd get in on Wednesday. :/
I'm happy my parents are here, but y'know, I wanted one last shot at getting Boopsie to 32 and pet awesomeness before Xmas. Ah well.
If I don't see you tonight, Merry Christmas and I'll see you next week! -
What, it's 10 merits just for beating up the big bad? Whoa!
Oh wait- 2 for the WL to spawn the gate, 2 for each of the 3 guardians and 2 for the big guy himself. I get it. Yeah, and all that takes, what, 15 minutes? Yup, that's a racket to get in on.
I'm down to just needing my Numina's and Miracle uniques, then I've got Boopsie's IOs all built through lvl 40 or so. So I would not be adverse to an enterprise that generates another hundred million or so. -

Posted here because no one reads the PvP forums?
Or as a warning to the rest of us to flee from Freedom while we can? -
Pffft,
All this analysis and you're just avoiding the answer that hurts:
They didn't want to play with you.
End of story, end of over-inflated ego-fest. -
Statesmonkey is everywhere!
When I realized no one else had made him up, I zipped around and slapped him on all the servers. The rules of superheroes insist that he must exist, so I had to provide.
Annnnd he's a Invuln/SS tank everywhere too.
Which is probably why he's mostly level 6 or so everywhere. The highest level Statesmonkey isn't yet out of his 20s, and it's sort of a shame. I keep meaning to play him more, and end up not doing so.
I found out pretty quick that while the idea of the same character on every shard is interesting in itself, I don't care to play the same powerset over and over. Hmmm. Maybe I need to go in and alter the animations and effects. That might make him more playable. -
I'm not a PvP guy, and lord knows I'm not a community organizer.
But I do hope someone steps up here and takes on this mantle.
I miss the days when Infinity had a rip-roarin' PvP community, even when I seldom got to participate. The boards were livelier and the PvP zones were fun to pop into once a month or so and just mindlessly get thumped.
I miss the Simians too, for similar reasons- they were passionate about their RP and made any team you were on with them a different experience.
Infinity was a better place when all the types of play the game supports were well represented. -
The wiki says he unlocks after whomping Scrapyard. Did we do that? I imagine we must have, but I've kind of lost track.
I do recall that he hands out some nice hero-bashing story arcs, so it sounds like a good plan to me! -
Annnnnd there was a patch in the last couple of days apparently.
Which is taking its own sweet time downloading, I must say.
Be on soonish. -
Tsk,
Which thread do I post in?
Welcome back! Good to see you again! -
Ha, this is what I get for not getting back to this thread sooner!
I should like to get in line behind Tealeaf, please. I'm not sure what we'd do with the extra healing thing-a-ma-jigs, but I'd like to see what they look like. And this time I promise to look in more often! -
Blade,
What's the consequence of getting the big healing badges for an SG? I'm not sure I even know what a 'medical aux device' is.
I might want to take you up on your offer for our little group of casual players. None of us really run healers, or heck, even manage to be on at the same time and run together, so the big healing badges are pretty much out of the picture for us. -
Posted in the other thread, but just to make sure:
I have a possible 4th in the person of my wife's stalker, a lvl 30 katana/ninja. -
Sounds good!
If we're short of players, I may be able to talk my wife into joining us. If that happens, we'll need to afk for 10 minutes sometime in the middle, to get the kid to bed. Dunno if this is acceptable or desirable, but I'll throw out the possibility. She's got a stalker at the top of the level range and would like to try a villainside TF.
BUT: she makes my playstyle look hard-core. Let's just say that if she's along, be prepared to play as if you're running with a noob, not someone who'll be nabbing her 5-year vet badge next month. -
Ah.
So that's why Mids' didn't want to upgrade when I fired it up a bit ago. Thanks for the heads up.
Keep up the good work, Titans! -
Question 1: Are you done futzing with the system yet?
I've tried three times now to work up an interesting arc using challenging game elements, only to have those elements get nerfed out of existence each time. It's totally turned me off of the system. I haven't even been in the Architect for about 3 months now. And in that time, you've nerfed the process down again, which only confirms my decision to avoid it.
Given the small amount of time I already have to play CoH, it just isn't worth it for me to get involved with this sub-game while the system changes out from under me halfway through the design process. Please give me a time-frame when I can expect the rules to stand still long enough to work with them.
Question 2: Are you going to get rid of all the non-playable story-arcs that clog up the search queue?
The last straw that drove me out of the building over the summer wasn't the arc creation process- it was seeing just how many stories were wiped out. Or rather, were NOT wiped out. They sit there unplayable and make the whole damn AE look like a buggy hunk of junk. Just what kind of impression do you think it makes on people when 3 out of 4 clicked-on AE mission will not load? If you're going to render someone's work unplayable, at least have the courtesy to remove it from public display.
You're running a shoddy product, Doc.
And giving out prizes to those few willing to burn their playtime in negotiating your minefield is NOT the way to encourage new customers.
