  1. all the 9800's you recommended were 600 Mhz clock speed... the 8800 were 650 and 660... that makes the 8800's faster...
  2. yeah, i do that too, i would really have liked to pick super strength and then had MA attacks powered by said super strength.
  3. did you actually check the clock speeds? the 9 series that you vaunted as "cheap" was slower than the two 8 series cards...

And apologies to SS for the nerd fight in the thread. i though i had make a simple comment....
  4. ...yes, the profit margin! and now they are both sub £100 as they are the same tech the next actual upgrade was the 200 series...

remember the 8 series 512 GT's are not the original G80 chips, they were a much later edition (as i recall, after the 9 series had come out) they were to sell off the slower clock speed 9 series chips, nothing else.
  5. wasn't superseded, the later 8 series and 9 series have the same chip (the G92) usually the 9 series was faster, but all that's left is the over clocked 8 series that are actually faster.
  6. Wow, £10 saving for a slower card. awesome find there old boy, you are an unstoppable genius!

The amount of graphics ram will only help with texture sizes, and you have no idea at what res SS runs the game.

SLI would be a bad idea with this game as it can cause a great many issues, plus, what if SS's mobo is Crossfire (SS favors AMD boards, which will not have SLi support anyway)

there are no major advantages to getting a 9 series of the later generation 8 series, and honestly your not convincing anyone other wise.
  7. Cassandra smiled as Edwards hand touched her, and kept smiling as her left hand whipped up to uppercut Edward as her left reached for his mechanical arm, even as the familiar touch of fear flowed over her, finding no strong foot holds.

"That won't help you Edward, i came to terms with these things a long time ago, they don't own me anymore"

Shouldn't this be in the technical section?

Back to the question. There is not a lot of difference between the two cars except the 8800GT has been discontinued but saying that you can still get a 9800GT for cheaper than an equivalent 8800GT.

See here for 8800 and here for 9800.

Uh, not according to your links you can't, same price to much more expensive...
  9. Cassandra moved as the grenade pushed Edward back, the arc of her jump landing her just in front of him.

"We can do this one on one if you like, and level the children out of it, but wither way, this sort of thing is over the line Edward, and that makes you fair game"
  10. it's a force blade, why is that unlikely? over and above force blades being so?
  11. Yeah, i have to say, i thought the talsorian stuff was a reverse engineering of rikti tech, which is in line with the teleporters and war walls.
  12. Cassandra Zero come to a halt on the edge of the roof opposite, watching the block of Ice for action, Perched, ready to push off.
  13. Um... States and Recluse anyone?
  14. which is really odd, as the performance on my older 8800GTS has actually gone up (5 -10 FPS on average)
  15. well the current crop of 8800gt/s are the same chips as the 9800 just slower (by about 50 mega hurtz at the 9800 bottom end) the 200 series are an actual step up but still very expensive.

so honestly a 512 GT 8800 is probably your best bet if you don't want to spend much.
  16. more pedantry: IR is not a toggle so the buff can were off mid jump, not so with the travel powers, the same with BS, there duration is on a timer, rather than when you want to turn it off.

while they can be substitutes, they are not the equal of the power pools.
  17. she sat opposite to the one hording the pool boys. on the train. i think there was a Dinosaur with a fez...
  18. Peace out, and good luck in your new venture.

    you'll be missed.

And that's were your falling down, there are various agreements in place that we won't ever know the details of and NCsoft can't talk about.

it's like trying to describe colour to something that has no eyes. it will always end up a confused mess.

    and congratulations!
  23. 2) the speed limit is 99 mph because the sever side can't track you if you move any faster than that.

    3) the colour of a power has to stay the same because each character doesn't get a separate version of the power, they all pull the base stats at a given level, animation and effect from the same source, also because the the FX on the mob you hit with that power is pulled from a central source which is separate again.

5)because something is possible on a different game is utterly irrelevant, unless that game happens to have been identical untill that thing was changed to make something possible.
