Quote:Indeed. That copy and paste combo can be a doozy to pull off.I don't know how - I try to copy paste and it doesn't work!
My comments are all pretty nice actually. Except for the one where Damz propositions me for a One-night stand of course! *shudder*
(No offense Damz, you're just not my type)
Quote:Oh goodness I made the sad, sad mistake of saying the poster of a thread didn't know the advantages to their powers. This kid and his little in inexperienced friends gave me all the -reps they possibly could. I hope someday these kids learn how to play CoH because by their comments they had no clue.
I bet that at least they could figure how copy-and-paste work though. -
In terms of DOs you should try and slot all your attacks for Acc & End Reduction. Keeping the blue bar up lets you keep Fury up which gives you a much better damage buff than slotting for Damage. Once you've got your Recovery power (or powers) and SOs you can mix-and-match more (often I go with 1 Acc, 1 End Red, 1 damage and 1 whatever feels right, usually either another Damage or a Recharge).

Quote:Yay! Ta SuckerPunch.Sort of a big push today, as far as new features:

There's an issue with the new buttons and Opera (or at least my Linux version of Opera), the Text in the buttons is too large, making them wrap onto a new line which causes a few display issues. Firefox it's fine (but I've noticed when writing and testing my own sites that Firefox tends to render text smaller than other browsers). Haven't had a chance to check it in IE.

Hmmm. In terms of being able to run into swarms of enemies and just not die my DM/WP Brute. And he doesn't even have Darkest Night (he'd be just sick with DN as well). And he's always been like that. He was doing Darren Wades arc in his mid 20s, fighting a Purpled conning Lost boss & his spawn when halfway through I noticed that Kabra Kill and a Pariah were also in the spawn. I was actually baffled as to why I wasn't dead, or even injured much. He doesn't really tear through enemy spawns though, just whittles them down.
Heroside either Carnifax herself, Illusion/Storm (although she can be two-shotted easily if I'm not thinking) or Dark Quasar, my Warshade.
None of them are extensively Set IOed out, most are just Frankenslotted (although Carni does have a HO from back when they were relatively cheap on the Market). -
Quote:Sorry, yep. Meant the Patron Pools for Brutes. Ball Lightning does come closest, at 80%ish of the damage of shockwave. Static Discharge only does half the damage of Shockwave, even Electricifying Fences does more damage (over time). The patron AoE powers available to Brutes, I would think. And indeed, they all have lower DPAs than Shockwave - Ball Lightning comes closest at 1.02 DS, 1.07 seconds (unless the new Static Discharge cone is better - I haven't checked).
On the other hand, Gloom has better DPA than Shockwave. But Gloom is crazy like that. -
Quote:If your Rad is debuffing properly then mezzes tend not to be a problem any more. I play lots of squishies. Never have I thought "Oh, I really need mez protection". For one thing most of the time if I do need it I can use / make myself a breakfree. Even my Fire/Rad doesn't have mez protection and he's a melee loving squishy.good idea. ill stay back a few rooms and you can come back and get healed when you need it.
Or my rad can wait until you have personally hit every mob before debuffing.
The game really doesn't need ways of getting even easier. -

ruining my party....
I have a question about the countdown clock...Mine here..yes I downloaded it!!..says as of right now 6 hrs 48 mins to celebration time. ANd I thought it was 17:59:00 GMT which would be 12:59:00 EST here..?..
It's currently 16:07 here, so a hour and 52 minutes to go as far as I know. -
Quote:Yes. All Irish females look like this. We're up to our armpits (they're not very tall) in them!Unless the piper is one of those crazy hawt green-eyed red-headed Irish lasses that just about make your knees turn to rubber. Rawr.
Oddly over here in Ireland no-one particularly gives a toss about today being Mr Guinnesses whateveritis. Even if the billboards have a countdown clock to 17:59pm this evening (I kid you not).
Only people concerned seem to be the marketing people at Diageo. -
There's going to be a lot of splattered Red and White spandex all over the floor?

Quote:Illusion Domis wouldn't be useless, far from it IMO. For one thing any power which uses a Pet or Pseudo pet would likely reuse the Controller version (like Earth does). So the summons would be more powerful than a Dominator version should technically be.As "useless" as everyone says it is, I'm still 100% behind Illusion Dominators. It seems just like sets like Traps or Devices, a mixed bag of miscellanious effects which are weaker than more focued sets, but have the strength of variety. Besides, it certainly wouldn't be unusual if they altered or even replaced a power or two to make it better suit it's new home. And on top of that, Illusion is an extremely un-heroic set to begin with, and better suited for a villian in concept. Illusions calls to mind an underhanded, deceptive coward who hides behind tricks and takes advantage of his enemies' confusion, case-in-point being Mysterio.
For example Spectral Terror would do Controller levels of fear, plus Controller levels of ToHit debuff (up to 30% if Spectral hits something with both the AOE and the single target fear).
It'd be seriously stepping on MMs toes in terms of being able to absorb alphas though, which, as far as I know, it the main reason we haven't seen it yet.
Personally I'd love it, but think we're more likely to see a new Control set which the devs can then give to Controllers too and which fits the devs ideas of Dominators better without blurring the line between them and a MM. -
Quote:Whatever works for you. I'm going for lots and lots of AOE as I like fighting lots of lower level enemies at once solo, with no bosses mostly for the constant stream of Insps & Salvage (and recipies if the crappy drop rates are fixed). So for me Spin, Evis & Shockwave will all be used. Especially since I'm Elec, which feels a little squishy, so being able to mass-knock things away could be useful for me.Eh, the one point more than strike damage, cone, and knockback till 41 makes it kinda of a ****** pick. Evis too, even, I can see taking elecs, darks, or fires damage toggle and working spin for LT/Minion kills and working bosses over man to man rather than wasting the pick.
Shockwave is absolutely nothing compared to the wonder that is Spin, that's for sure. We're a bit spoilt by the awesome that is Spin!
The Epic AOEs are going to make you really sad if you consider Shockwaves damage to be too low -
Quote:Agreed. The focus of City of Villains on Arachnos and Longbow is horribly frustrating. Arachnos are okay, at least they've an interesting variety of different types, but they are overused. The Skulls and Hellions make sense where they are - street gangs which fall out of focus when you're powerful enough to handle bigger things. You still have the Trolls and eventually the Freakshow to serve as super-powered street gangs, though.
However, there are MANY enemy groups villain-side which are either entirely forgotten or only mentioned in passing.
Luddites
Goldbrickers
The Cap Au Diable Demons
The Legacy Chain
Wyvern
The Scrapyarders
The Dockworkers???
Yes, the Wailers
And then there are a lot of enemy groups which get good exposure in City of Heroes, but are only ever sort of... There in City of Villains. Skulls, Hellions, the Lost, to a large extent the Rikti, the Nemesis Army, the Soldiers of Rularuu, there are many. The biggest failing in CoV, as far as I'm concerned, is that it's almost all Longbow, Arachnos and Circle of Thorns, with other, more interesting groups outright forgotten about.
Longbow are just fail. Dull, frustrating and monotonous all at the same time. And every second mission seems to feature them.
Going Rogue better not make the same mistake in terms of content variety. -
Quote:It's a Knockback still. At least it's a cone though, they're fairly easy to position so you slam things into a wall. Not optimal for some Brute builds, like WP or Invun but we do get an AOE immob at 41 as well which is handy to neuter it.Spin, good. Evis, eh. What about Shockwave? Is it still a knockback for brutes? Cuz if it is that's not a very "great" aoe for tanking/bruting then, ya know?
If it's Knockdown, however, them I'm all aboard for taking it.
Can be a life-saver sometimes on my Claws/WP scrapper, but I don't use it too much. On my Claws/Elec brute it's going to be more useful as I'll be able to counter the knockback with Fences, or not depending on the situation. -
They also count as 1 "tier" less than they normally would. So Prisoners base XP is counted as Underlings before the modifier is applied. Lieuts count as Minions and Bosses count as Lieuts. That's also why they colour con as -1 to what you'd usually expect (even level Prisoner Minions will con blue to you).

Can't one also get anaphylactic shock from, amongst other things, condoms and tampons? The last two names especially might lead to some misunderstandings...

I'm about to hit SO levels anyway, so hopefully any downswing in the numbers gets brushed over by the joy of having things slotted with Damage SOs. At the mo I've no Damage slotting in any of my powers at all and it still chops through things.
-
Quote:Absolutely. I just looked at the Paragon Wiki today, intending maybe in the future to get a few +Smashing & Lethal Resistance set bonuses for my Claws/Elec.I was thinking about this today.
I would really like to see more resistance based set bonuses.
There are 6 bonuses for Lethal resistance. Compared to 26 for Lethal Defense.
And 2 of the 6 are the PvP Sets, so are rarer than hens teeth. 2 more are Pet IOs or Intensive Recharge Pet IOs, so for my Melee character it's basically undoable.
Looks like +HP and Regen is the way to go.
Quote:Originally Posted by MunkiLordI got this idea from a thread currently in S&I forums, but in addition to any new sets including resist bonuses all the debt protection set bonuses should be removed and replaced with resist bonuses. Quote:No, they sting. At least the ones over here do. (And at the moment they're in their grumpy "It's cold and I'm going to die soon" modes so they're best avoided)Sting of Death

Wait, she's a "yellow jacket"? Don't they bite instead of stinging?
Bite of Death
Deathbite
Dunno if they bite too, usually the sting is enough. -
Quote:All she ever posted were rehashes of Dev Posts, Patch notes and so on anyway. Now we get them along with everyone else anyway.Something else I've noticed since the merger too. Avatea now talks to us even LESS than before (if that's even possible).
Seriously, take a look at the community digest. There's been no mod posts of ANY kind in the EU lounge for weeks and weeks... Nada.. Hardly any in the general discussion channel either... -
Isn't a Yellowjacket a wasp, not a bee?
I had Ichneumon picked as a name on Union for a while, but never really got them going. Was thinking of a Spines Stalker or a Ninja/TA or Poison MM. They've a great way of finding food for their young, by laying the eggs inside a living caterpillar or grub.
From Wiki
==
Ichneumon wasp species are highly diverse, ranging from 3 mm (1/8-inch) to 13 cm (5 inches) long. Most are slender, with the females of many species (particularly in the genus Megarhyssa) having an extremely long ovipositor for laying eggs. The female finds a host and lays an egg on, near, or inside the host's body. Upon hatching, the larval ichneumon feeds either externally or internally, killing the host when they themselves are ready to pupate. Despite looking formidable, the ovipositor does not deliver a sting like many wasps or bees. It can be used by the wasps to bore into and lay eggs inside rotten wood. -

Quote:Don't forget the new difficulty settings. -1s or 0s / x4+ would be the way to go with them to keep the Inherent fuelled solo.Oppressor
My first impression upon reading this was 'here's a person who plays as a hero most of the time'. The Leader is a potentially uber build for heroes (quasi-scrapper with pets) and the Oppressor (a melee defender!), well, to me it looks like an uber squishy villain.
Apart from...the inherent. A very cool idea, possibly too uber to implement (in teams) but almost useless solo (which is more common on the villain side).
*drools at the idea of a Dark/Spines or a Rad/Claws Oppressor* -
Quote:Plus, since he's taking a cut anyway for organising it all there's little reason for him to leg it with the cash, especially if it means more of these in the future. No, I don't think that there is any chance at all the the Smurph would just keep the money. He's very well known around here, and he's already filthy rich. Also, since he posted about this here, there is public documentation that he is taking the money for a specific purpose. If he just keep the money, a gm could just read here, check the logs to see if got any large sums of money (and my 10,000 influence. Still waiting, Smurphy!) and see if he actually traded the bulk of it back to one of the people who responded in this thread.
He's not stupid, guys. He's not going to risk his account or his reputation around here or something he doesn't really need at all.
