Quote:Yeah, I've had it happen once. Irritating, though not as apocalyptic as some new-issue bugs we've had...I don't know if anyone else has this problem. Since the release of I21, I've had several instances of the program shutting down on me while I'm transiting - zone to zone, into my SG base, boarding the train, etc. Bad enough soloing, but a real inconvenience while teamed. Getting this fixed would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
FYI, this may be better in the Tech/Bugs board than Suggestions. Suggesting repairs is viewed as kind of a rhetorical snark thing most of the time. -
You mean the ones who were hassling the cops and getting in their way while helping the crazy person in the mask aggrandize (and possibly profit from) his illegal exploits? Yeah, totally with you there.

Quote:I remember an issue of Green Lantern back in the '70s in which Sinestro arranged for Hal's ring to run out of juice on some remote planet - only to discover to his dismay that that actually made Hal more dangerous, because it meant there was no longer any impetus for him to try any more elegant solution than just sneaking up on Sinestro and beating the ever-loving crap out of him. There was actually a issue or 2 of Kyle's GL that dealt with this. He got stuck on an alien world with his battery taken by some monster and had to fight his way to it.
"Hard to focus your willpower on your ring, isn't it, Sinestro? When I keep hitting you like this, I mean." -

Seriously. The question isn't why would anyone choose to be a civilian in Paragon City - why does anyone who isn't a member of Arachnos live in the Rogue Isles? It's got all the danger of Paragon without anybody around who wants to help you in any way, plus it's got that Caribbean hurricanes-n-malaria thing going on. There should be Etoilian boat people fleeing in droves to Cuba to get away from that crap.

OK, speaking of missions that need revamping in the worst way, let's get some data mining up in this thing: Has anyone ever starved to death or died of old age - or, for that matter, boredom - while attempting to complete Mercedes Sheldon's "go to the hugest, sprawlingest sandy cave map on Earth and personally beat up every member the Warriors gang has ever had in the history of the world ever" mission? Because I'm pretty sure I came close to both A and C while soloing it with my MA/W Scrapper this afternoon.

Quote:Not as bad as real estate in the Rogue Isles. And while it probably doesn't seem glamorous, it's probably a high-pressure, high-stakes business being in insurance in Paragon, no doubt with lots of interaction with government and hero organizations.
"As you all know, first prize is an Arachnos Flyer. Anyone want to see second prize? Second prize's a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired." -

In technical circles, the concept is called "servicing the installed base". Since we don't have power set respecs, the introduction of a new set that's like Claws but with prettier animations does precisely jack for squat to help seven-year-old Claws characters whose players would like to change things up visually.

I've been playing a Martial Arts Scrapper again recently, and it's been good fun. I mostly play this new character with the alternate punch-oriented animations, since she's not really supposed to be a trained Eastern-style martial artist, but I noticed, during one of those newfangled missions where you have to fight a doppelgänger of yourself, that her double was using the "stock" animations, and so doing a lot more kicking.
At first I was annoyed by that - not much of a double if she doesn't even fight in the same style - but then I got to thinking. It'd be nifty if, for those melee sets that have more than one animation available for some powers (MA and Super Strength are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head), there was a power customization setting for "random" that would... well, just what it says on the tin, really. For instance, if you had MA:Storm Kick set to Random, sometimes when you fired it off you'd get the spinning kick, and sometimes you'd get the punch in the face. For this particular character, it would heighten the sense that she's basically just improvising; for others, it might give an impression of highly trained versatility - whatever spin the player prefers to put on it. It's a purely cosmetic thing.
N.B. I am suggesting this as a further customization option, not the One Way I Think the Powers Should Work, so please remain calm. Also, I am already aware that the standard code rant applies, inasmuch as I don't know how those animations are "linked" to particular power customization profiles on the backend. Thank you.
Also, it just occurred to me that yes, there are ranged sets which could also conceivably benefit from this trick. -
That mission doesn't actually involve any player characters directly. You "drive" an NPC (the woman in the brown jacket) to a meeting with another NPC (the Bone Daddy). Supposedly you're watching her do the meeting through a hidden camera, hence the "REC" graphic.
Presumably the way the game does this is by covering up your character with a temporary "disguise costume" power that looks like the NPC you're ostensibly watching, then locking out all your actual powers, the same way the Hellion disguise in the new 1-5 hero story arc works. The reporter's not supposed to be you, so she doesn't have any of your powers, not even Sprint (note the greyed-out power trays in the lower right)...
... except when I got in there, Rocket Board still worked.
Silliness ensued. -
(Put this on the tech/bugs board originally, since I'm reasonably sure it is a glitch... but it's also a fun pair of screenshots, so here.)
"Scarlet Stranger, I'm worried. I'm supposed to go and meet with a Skull leader in my capacity as an investigative journalist, but what if he tumbles to my real purpose for meeting him and things get hostile? I'm just a civilian, not a superhero like you. What if I need to make a quick getaway?"
"No problem, Deborah. I'll lend you my rocket board! If anything goes wrong you can be out of there lickety-split."
"You can do that?!"
"Sure, hop on. It's easy!"
"Holy cow, this is awesome! Thanks, Scarlet Stranger!"
"Just be careful in there!"
soon...
"Hey, lady, where'd you get that rocket board?"
"Found it. Look, are we going to do a deal about these food supplies or not? I've got places to be."
I'm pretty sure this wasn't supposed to be possible? But it sure was funny. -
Quote:I've been back for a couple of months, but I was gone for nearly two years before that - long enough that I'm no longer sure who the players are at Paragon any more.JYou've been away? I've been seeing you post all over this forum, when did you leave?
I'm over the most epic level of my What Does This Button Do Again phase in-game now, but it was dicey for a while there. -
I just got a tip mission entitled "Stop the Unknown Psychic". I'll be very disappointed if I get there and find that he is not wearing a brown paper bag with eyeholes cut in it on his head.
Speaking of which (and this is the suggestion part), we need that in Special Helmets. I've already reserved The Unknown Corruptor in anticipation. (Does the old "hey Sexy Jay" thread still exist? For that matter, does Jay still work here? I was away a long time.) -

Not a bad idea on its face, but didn't the developers already say they're not going to be doing the alternate animation thing for melee sets any more? Something about it being easier to just make new power sets, I forget exactly.
-
Gonna be honest here, I'm not sure how it makes a particle of difference unless you're using some really creative camera angles in play.

Quote:Not seeing anything here that differentiates this event from a Rikti invasion, apart from the word "incarnate". So, you know... lame, but not exactly breaking news. They buff the incarnates until you die 10 times faster than ever before because everyone gets in button mashing frenzy. The screen fills up with smoke, and you d/c 3 times

Quote:The MA/WP Scrapper I rolled a while back reached 21 the other day. I miss Brawl occasionally doing knockdown. It's just funny.I am in love with the GRPO (Going Rogue Pre-Order) enhancements. With two in Initial Strike and three in Heavy Blow, I am having more fun with Street Justice than I've had with just about any other powerset. These enhancements are pretty darn amazing if ya ask me, especially given how much impact they have on new toons as they work their way up through the early levels.
