  1. Just one question Brimmy, what are you planning on taking at 8?

    I'd recommend frost/icesword, just to help you "scrank" a bit more until you can get taunt to get to you aggro management happiness. Personally, I'd go frost for the aoe, then get taunt at 10, travel power pre-req at 12, travel power at 14, then the fitness pool, with glacial armour at 22.

    I think just grinding through the quick patch between 6 and 10 will make life a lot easier for you - but avoid getting a non-combat power at 8. It will make soloing easier, and teaming easier, as they can see you attacking.

  3. That is right my hardrocking amigoes, I decided to do a spot of drawing - now I suck at drawing on paper, but figured I'd give it a go. This is also my first attempt at digitally colouring a piece, using the tutorials posted by Chaplain (cheers! ) Would love to know what you all think.

  4. From my perspective the biggest things to learn from 3vP are the following:

    1) Organisation - It is too much work for 1 person per server. The sheer number of tells I've received throughout this tournament are uncounted, but it's a massive number. I'd recommend a team of two per server - 1 to handle the "crowd control" and 1 to handle the other stuff.

    2) Subs - something we didn't really take into account - especially the penalty for not turning up.

    3) Try to avoid coinciding with a) and Issue release, and b) the World Cup

    Apart from that, it has been comparatively smooth, and I hope, a lot of fun - I'm especially looking forward to the final rounds, when I should get a chance to actually watch a match, and in particular the Union v Defiant Winners Showdown.

    Good thinking Kin, especially like the idea to help lessen the poor points of the random system, although I love the random nature too - provides a lot of extra oomph imo.

  7. Ok, from having a look, it appears that 3 of the matches from round 4 haven't happened yet

    So, I'm extending the deadline for these matches until 11pm Sunday night. If I haven't received the results, I will deduct a life from all of those in the bouts, and draw for round 5, when we can hopefully resume normal service.

    So,

    Mighty Saguaro, Mr Nice and Cold Penetration are facing Empath, DARK MAN X and Harvest Moon.

    Max Thunder, Spawnus and Discharge vs. Spines Sparrow, Carnifax and Hidden Healer.

    Dax Ferdas, Serophina will be joined by Smirk, to face Orion Star, Envoy and their joinee, Shadow Fury.

    If any of the matches need a sub, Troke is first on the list. Failing that, please check the original draw for Round 1, and get subs from those who have gone out/or the peeps who completed their match - Tridento, Captain Skyfire, Vamos, Red Hot Rock, Anath, WickedOne.

    Union are holding Round 5 tonight, we will hold ours next Thursday, when Union are scheduled to take a one week break, with Round 6 on both servers the following Thursday.

  10. I am really sorry about this guys - I've got an absolute shed load on today that really has to be done. I'll try my best to get a draw posted up, but I'm not even sure if all the matches from round 4 have happended or not - things have been a little hectic.

  13. Storm Rocks.

    The missus has her storm defender to (iirc) 26, and it is very enjoyable, and challenging set to play. For a controller, it just gets better - apart from gale, there aren't any horrible powers in Storm, and all of them add more pseudo control to your arsenal.

    You get a toggled slow, a team stealth toggle with resist to F/C/E, freezing rain - (-spd, -recharge, -def, -res) also has some knockdown too. Hurricane for -tohit, with a smidge of repel (combining nicely with TK), an aoe disorient, tornado for knockaround and damage and lightning storm for damage and -end.

    Add in the mass of control you get with mind, and you could lock down pretty much everything. Anywhere. Oh, and O2 boost is an ok healother that also gives sleep resistance.

    Sonic Trollers?

    Earth Sonic here, currently at 13 ish, as part of Team Lockdown, a 2x earth, 2x fire, 2x grav, 2x ice regular team.

    I'm really enjoying the combo, and it seems to work well within our setup, as we have an ff too, so doubling up on the protection. I also tested the build to 40 during the RV test, and it did very well in there, especially at holding a hardpoint. I'll see if I can find my build - it is somewhere about.
  15. Got him up to just shy of level 7 tonight in a little under 3 hours, with a very good team of weapon wielding/natural origin toons. Very few deaths, even when we lost one of the scrappers and the other TA/arch.

    Flash Arrow is far, far superior to entangling arrow - the tohit debuff isn't huge, but is noticable, and works well with only the default slot. Glue arrow is ace, especially with two of them at the same time. Ice arrow is an ok hold, will be much better once I've had chance to put some slots in it.

    Looking forward to poison gas arrow, and flaming arrow in the next two level ups.

  17. Indeed that is the only amendment that needs making to an otherwise excellent TA/archery guide, as flash arrow is now non aggro, so probably a better pick than before.

    I've amended the build slightly based on that guide, which should be more effective.

    No travel power, although I have left the option open for SS/SJ to make their way in there if I get bored of hopping around the place...

    I know nothing about TA, so any advice would be appreciated, especially on the order/slotting.
  19. On my EM/EA I found that 2acc 2 recharge 2end was optimal slotting for my fury building attacks (energy punch, bonesmasher) and the same again for total focus until energy drain.

    I imagine that it will be the same on an EM/elec - once you get Powersink you can start swapping endreds for damages, but I'd probably keep at least 1 endred in every attack.

    You can take the end red out of Energy transfer and put a damage there instead, it uses comparatively little end, and being able to oneshot things is fun

    Hasten makes a real difference - having energy drain up so frequently really helps me, as does being able to TF and ET with BU as much as possible.
  20. What Silver Weasel said - running 3vP taught me a valuable lesson about how much work is involved, and that was only 42 players (Xanthus got the other 42 )

    In 10 minutes on the opening night, I received over 90 tells, 17 blind invites and enough chatter in local to make the text seem to blur.

    As to the forum things - these are the official boards for the game we all love, so most people would prefer a simple post in a signup thread to a forum they are already registered on - path of least resistance and all that.

    3vP update?

    As I posted in the defiant results thread, I'm still waiting on results for the majority of the defiant ties.

    I've allowed till Thursday when I'll make the next draw (assuming there is still interest), but it looks like the World Cup/I7 have combined to make this very tricky to sort out. I still want this to go through to conclusion though...
  23. For clarity, I'm still waiting on the results for 3 Round 4 matches for Defiant - it appears that the World Cup/ I7 interruption hit us harder than we anticipated.

    I'm happy to give it till Thursday evening for the matches to take place, and I will then make the draw for Round 5, assuming people are still interested.
