  1. Statesman's Task Force and Lord Recluse's Strike Forces are easy as can be. If you're the Leader, kick everyone off the team after starting the TF/SF! More XP for you!

I wanted to chime in here...

I love these events, but it would be SOOOO much better if it was an actual ... surprise!! no announcement on the boards posting future dates, or a reminder it's this weekend. I mean really, even if we had rikti spies get us the info, you'd think they'd be smart enough to change their plans...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hi Backhand,

Well, as for the Rikti invasions, we kinda spoiled that when we put out the 4 Year Anniversary Calendar. We know that some like to be surprised by fun stuff, but others also like to be able to plan for certain events. Hopefully we can work in some surprises for you over the coming year as well

Like a giant Jack-in-the-Box popping up, thanks to our friend the Trickster?
  3. Ummm, does this involve a casting couch and a dimly lit room? Or do we just show up and someone picks us out from a crowd?

Is it time to rescrub the list?

    [/ QUOTE ]

For the other issues that were mentioned, but not put on the previous list, are they being looked into, have been something that's already being fixed in the next patch, or nothing to worry about for Open Beta?

    <QR>

    Um...yay?

Seriously...these Midnight Squad arcs sound most tasty.

    <nomnomnomnomnom...>

    [/ QUOTE ]

"The image I have in my head is of a stodgy old Midnighter rolling a big crate out in front of the Freedom Phalanx. The lettering on the crate reads, “The Arc of the Covenant”. With a smile, the Midnighter asks the group of heroes, “You gentlemen think you could put this dusty old thing to use?”

This is a really bad idea, bringing anything into the game that has any form of religious connotation is a bad idea...

I hope the story is influenced by the arc and not the arc itself. "sigh" we'll see I suppose.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sounds more like an image of an ancient artifact that's taken out from a warehouse where top people take care of such things....

There's no arc in Ark, but there is in an arc of electricity
  6. It's interesting that a feature that was asked every now and then get a chance in the game. I would never have thought player made missions would be implemented.

Any hints for anything else, or would that be saying too much until the future updates come along?

    Just asking

Will CoH be attending GenCon in Indy this year?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, unfortunately, we wont' be making it out to GenCon this year.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Boo! This year I am actually going to GenCon.
Nothing in the middle or East of the country, huh?

We know that everyone would love to have us visit their back yard. As it stands right now, we are making the shows that fit with our schedules and work well with our plans. Penny Arcade, Comic Con and our San Jose Meet 'n Greet are great opportunities for us that we can reasonably support. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'm not sure about that.

Yes, I do have a wide back yard and side lot, but the convention would have to spill out to the former graveyard that's between my house and a church, and onto the street as well.

    Oh well

Geko was put onto the MUO project, but from what I heard he's still with Cryptic (not sure if he got promoted from the position he had at the time).

I dislike your decision about Stalkers not receiving the Shield Set based on 'theme'. Technically, a case in literature, comics and real life could be found for *any* thematic objection you guys raise. Tell me you can't do it (or will not try to do it) because you can't get the animations, effects, math, esthetics to work at all or up to your standards, and I'll stop (or never start) griping about it. But, please, for the sake of *my* sanity, don't try to tell me shields + stalkers is 'anti-thematic'. Please?

    Stalkers = Assassins.

Assassins don't go around with shields. Not ninjas. Not thugees. Not CIA 'consultants'.

It may be a cool power to have, but thematically and in reality, shields would just get in the way. Shields are cumbersome and nothing better than dead weight, something to be avoided at all costs.

Would a real Assassin be willing to risk being discovered when they are trying sneaking up on someone because the shield accidentally hit the desk nearby? Or someone was alerted to the larger profile the Stalker would have thanks to using the shield? Or perhaps they'd somehow feel more comfortable to have an arm strapped to a shield which may also get in the way of the hand attached to that arm?

Shields would make more problems than they'd be worth for Stalkers/Assassins.

Besides, Stalkers have quite a few options, defence-wise, already and I wouldn't doubt there will be something for them yet in substitution for Shields.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To even move beyond thematic stuff, most (if not all) stalker Assassin Strikes are two handed in their animations. That's the kind of reason he wanted, and now he's got it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And then he'd say 'Why can't I use shields in Assassin Strike anyways?!' It's not as if the shield in this case can't be considered 'sharpened', thereby providing a deadly attack.
  10. What if they're hanging out in the Armstrong Moonbase?
  11. It's Sunday afternoon.... Where are all the rednames?

It's cool, the doctor wrote a note and all.

Where I live, you have to pay for a doctor's note. I guess it cost the City Scoop staff an arm, an arm, an arm, an arm.....

Players can optionally disable the Visual Sounds in the options menu, but are encouraged to keep them on, as all the sounds in the game are being removed to make room on the players’ hard drives for the new Visual Sound graphics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would have perfered the option to be able to use sounds, regular sounds. Why? To be better able to pin-point where glowies are. To be able to tell an enemy with heavy breathing is around the corner. To be able to hear from which direction enemies are attacking allies.

While these 'visual sounds' would come in handy when I do have to turn off my speakers, but for times when I can turn them on, it's cooler than absolute silence.

I sincerely hope that we'll be able to have sounds again.

*sigh* If this was a April Fool's joke, I'll have a long walk to kick someone's hindquarters....
  16. Any word on the bug that happened from the last reorganizing of the Character Creator?

Last time around, you wind up with generic'd version of costume pieces that got rearranged (i.e. metallic chest to simply tights chest). The only way to work around it was to change the costume and then change it again to bring it to the way it was supposed to look.

Any Red name wanna come out and let us know if Elec/Elec tank is going to be added?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to see Electric Hammer made for Tanks to go along with Electric Armour. And with Weapon Customization, people don't have to worry that it'd be a Thor kind of electric hammer. It could be a stun rod, a tech electrically charged hammer, etc.

    As for the story... Bleh.

Sorry. I like Doc Brainstorm, but I don't like the game mythos telling me that my powers are the result of this or that. First in Web of Arachnos we are told that Statesman basically loosed all powers on the world, and now we are told that even natural heroes really aren't, they all have powers because of this "mystical network, an energy based control panel for super power distribution". Add in that we are told that Dr. Brainstorm has bugged ALL invention tables, and that he alone is responsible for creating all the new variations of power sets, and I am just... less than thrilled.

I know, I am taking it too seriously. And I can ignore it for my own storytelling (and I will). But I hate having to ignore the game story to tell my own. Its one of the reasons I dislike playing villains more than heroes, as the stories are more stifling and less fitting to my villains.

    *sigh*

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was kind of thinking the same when I saw the info about the Midnight Squad discovering the source of powers.

There's something odd about a person using an assault rifle and devices as having some kind of 'cosmic connection' that some how gives him/her the ability to shoot guns and toss webgrenades.....

Ummm, would it be safe to say it'll include a 'Tune in for the week after next for details of the goodies next week!?

  20. *Sigh* I was kind of hoping for more. Hopefully I'll have time to see more info tomorrow.

There might come a time where power customization becomes a top priority, but by then maybe they will already be looking at a City Of 2.0.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd say that CoX 2 is already in, at the very least beginning to, be in development. There's most likely a list of features they'd like to have worked on when they do make a sequel to the game from the ground up.
