But wait theres more...
Jakey K our suicidal MA/SR Scrapper also got to 50 yesterday
Oh yeah so did I! Woohoo! Warshade here I come. -
I'm not really happy to let people change charcters between rounds if thats what you mean. Pick your best character and stick with it rather than a lot of people pontificating about wich one of their characters is better against their next opponent. However you DON'T have to pick your highest charcter if you don't want to but you WILL be expected to fight at that charcters maximum level (so you can't enter a lvl 50 and request to fight at only lvl 14)

Last month I advertised a PvP event for everyone on the board to celibrate Valentines Day and I felt it was pretty well received.
So I'm running another one (this time named after the latest HU member to ding 50). Pretty much everyone is invited but spaces are limited to 32 (after that my head explodes) and our priority system is:
1. People in HU
2. People that are coalated with HU
3. People that HU like
4. Bridger
5. Everyone else
The event will take place on 1th March at 2.30pm in Galaxy City Arena (Emerald section).
You can help this event run smoothly by.
1. Reading the Tournament Rules and understanding them
2. Having taken part in and hosted at least one match in the arena already, so that you are familliar with arena interface.
3. Keeping still and quiet - the organisation for this is soley done by me and a piece of paper so it takes a little while for me to tell everyone everything. Like I said bear with me. -
Whats going on? Both Discharge and Baruk dinged the big 50. That makes Discharges second lvl 50 and Baruks first.
Well done both of you! -
Well done Exo one of my favourite tanks to play with.

There will certainly be a fair few Honourable United at least 5 of us possibly more

As a Rad / Elec /Elec Defender I'm constantly frustrated at how many high levle enemies just flat out seem to ignore End Drain completely. However I can get into the mob and pray that my debuffs protect me whilst I hit Short Circuit, EM Pulse and then Power Sink and do a reasonable sapping job (Short circuit has 2 end modifications as does power sink - probably getting 3 slotted at lvl 50)
That said End during for one vs one PvP can be quite fun in duels I've managed to scare my SGs Katana / Regen scrapper a few times - if I actually get round to improving the damage on ball lightning and charged bolt I might one day beat him.
My only other gripe s that the animation for Power Sink is RUBBISH! It's the final epic power and I play the same animation as I do for Accelerated Metabolism thats pretty poor in my opinion (I'd prefer a reverse of the current Short Circuit animatino starting with arms outstreched and then bringing your arms in whilst electricity flies towards you) -
So I'm nearing ever so slowly my first lvl 50 charcter... by and large everyone I've met has been reasonably nice to me and relatively pleasant to be arround. I normally am prepared to take a chance on a blind invite with my lower level alts although after lvl 20 I really expect a tell first. I guess I probably stick within the Honourable United group a little too much but I've formed relation ships with most of the embers of my SG that I want to keep up with on a daily basis.
There is literally one player I WON'T team with it's not something I'm particularly proud of but I just don't have time for them and they don't have time for me. Theres a few players that I have minor reservations teaming with but not to the extent that I would go out of my way to avoid them.
I think in all honesty there have been less than 10 pickup teams that I've been part of where I decided to make my excuse and leave. I don't judge people by their SGs I've met nice people on SGs with a bad reputation and people from well known SGs that I couldn't stand.
In my opinion Defiant is doing OK - could it be doing better? Possibly
Lvl 49 Rad/Elec Defender LFT No Blind Invites - CANNOT HEAL! -
Sally is cool! Sorry I missed it Sal I was really knackered after taking out that Crystal Titan guy.

Well Done MidnightAvenger, Ramini Kaiok and Singh MC in the end we coulsn't get a playing card between you. The full report together with photos is here
thanks to everyone who turned up and put up with my poor organisational skills I might run another one of these in a month. -
I have no strong feelings about Bridger one way or the other. (Neutral 4 life!)
Xan - I know that Sally is a much better PvP-er than me and that as shes a scrapper has a much better chance against a controller than me (defender). As I am a defender and you're a controller you're going to have a hard time persuading me to make life any easier for you. -

TOGA TOGA TOGA TOGA TOGA TOGA TOGA TOGA (repeat until incapable of sentience) -
Just to clarify there are going to be NO changes to the rules as stated in the Honourable United forums.
That means:
Limit Stealth ON
No Travel Powers ON
Duals at unequal power levels are fought at the weightband BELOW the lowest participant (IE if a lvl 34 takes on a lvl 50 they both fight at the lvl 31 max weightband)
We can debate the pros and cons of these rules until our hair turns blue and I still don't think we'd see eye to eye (for example an Ilusion/# Controller could use Phase Shift and then the Hyper Phase temp power from Warburg for a full minute of down time during which time as a defender he could squish me about 3 times in a row).
To be honest I'm expecting mainly PvE Builds to turn up so I could introduce a rule saying "All Paragon Defenders have to play with one hand tied behind their backs" and the PDs will still beat us. I've played against the PDs in the arena and it's a scary scary experience so I'm sure Xanthus will be able to hold his own even without his travel powers.
If I manage to get through the event without having a nervous breakdown AND decide to run another of these events Defiant wide THEN I will take any comments people have about the event on board (and then throw them over the side of the ship as soon as it leaves port)
Places in the tournament are limited to 32 I can just about cope with a straight single elimination tournament. No double eliminations/round robins/best of threes/blind draws or other fancy stuff here. -
Hello Defiant!
Just to let you know that Honourable United is celibrating the true meaning of Valentines Day on Saturday 11th February at 2.30pm in the Galaxy City Arena. I'm in charge of the event and have organised 7 smaller tournaments for my SG so I have some clue about what I'm doing.
What is the true meaning of Valentines Day you ask?
Shooting someone you never met before in the face!
Honourable United will be doing a PvP arena tournament and pretty much everyone is invited, although spaces will be limited so the official Priority will be:
People in Honourable United
People Coalated with Honourable United
People that Honourable United like
Bridger
People that Honourable United have never met
People that Honourable United DON'T like
If you want to join in please let me know. This will be the first time that I've advertised the tournament on these forums so I've no idea of what responce I will get. So please bear with me on the actual day.
It wasn't a cow I certainly wouldn't want to pull the wool over your eyes....(thats a hint at one person who did it) The other needs a Chris Benoit style Northern Lights Suplex for his continued idiocy.
thats all the hints your getting folks -
As far as I knew spawn sizes were set at the start of a mission - I've had people fall out of a team and the mobs not diminish in size (not that I noticed anyway) despite going through portals/lifts. If spawns are dynamic like people said then theres even less reason to mission bump -not that that will stop those who choose to exploit less experienced players without their knowledge.
Whilst the high level player is bumping his own mission and recruiting the other players are having their time wasted as they can't do missions of their own. And I've been told by other players that when they actually tried to go and help with my nameless examples missions they were abused verbally although in my case I declined the invite as I knew it was a waste of my time.
I was very carefull not to mention names but I think most veterains will be able to make an educated guess as to who it was. Why should I get in trouble for proving that another player is acting like an [censored]? If I petition every time it happens to me then surely the GM could check that my story (as an example) of being a lvl 7 recruited by a lvl 35 for a mission in Creys Folly (where my character couldn't even get in to the mission site) is true. If everyone were prepared to do petition when it happened to them I'm sure the GMs would get sick and tired of the players causing the problem and act. But I can only raise the profile of the problem either via petitioning the GMs or posting here.
Like I said I feel my hands are tied. The behaviour I described isn't forbidden - but it is in my opnion pretty low and if you stoop to it well shame on you. -
Names with held to protect the guilty.
I was running arround the Hollows with one of my alts when I got a blind invote from a hero...(being careful not to name names here)...and I instantly new that this invite had NOTHING to do with me and everything to do with him (I'm asuming he's a he).
He had invited me for no other reason than to increase the number of mobs in his own mission and as soon as he started the mission he would kick everyone from the team and solo it. I don't know the official slang but I refer to this as "mission bumping".
In my opinion this is a spectacularly poor way to behave. In my case I knew from the heroes name and his reputation that the offer of a team was not genuine and declined him. However most genuine "newbies" wouldn't have known him and so would have taken up his offer - so someones first experience of CoH could be some power levelling moron exploiting their naivety -a wonderful introduction to the Defiant community. Do we on Defiant really want to put up with this kind of behavior?
I'm not standing against people doing bumping their missions with charcters who've actually consented to do so as thats fine by me. I'm against the concept of exploiting newbies and low level heroes without their consent.
Thing is theres not much I can think about to do - I can't really petition the guy for his actions as they are strictly speaking not forbidden in CoH. It would basically run down to my word against his - and whilst his word probably doesn't hold much sway with the GMs theres not much they can do to stop him doing it tomorrow short of deleting his account (oh go on Bridger you know you want to!). But I'm more likely to kick up a fuss than a "genuine" newbie who might assume that the bumper in question made a genuine mistake.
So next time someone uses you to bump their mission without explanation or reason...don't just put up with it - try raising it with a GM or put their name down here as a public "list of shame". -
Enemy - Short Hand
Clockwork - Clocks
