Has anyone else been following this? Apparently the second book came out recently. I picked up the first one this summer and read it during my family camping trip.
It's fairly creepy and, thankfully, a take on vampires that's pretty gruesome. You can also see how Blade 2's Reapers inspired the type of vampires in the books.
He was recently on The Colbert Report to talk about it. -
Stop responding to Durakken.
*THE MORE YOU KNOW* -
As a season opener this wasn't one of Smallville's strongest and as the opener for the final season it was a bit disappointing.
For all the talk of letting Clark man up it was pretty ******* stupid to actually have a scene where Clark is opening up Ma's present with the suit inside, ready to put it on and step into the light, only to be utterly cockblocked by his father.
Not only that, but his dad tells him he's a failure because he's got darkness in his heart. Haven't we had entire episodes or seasons even revolving around the fact that Clark, and, um, EVERYONE, has a dark side, but he's in control of his decisions? And then it looks like daddy locked up the suit. Ugh.
Here's hoping that Clark finds something to busy himself with (perhaps heading to Africa) while Green Arrow and Deadshot duke it out next episode. -
THE COMIC BOOK STORY TOURNAMENT
(Round 1 Part 1)
Fellow forumites, I ask you: What is the best comic book story?
VOTING RULES
- Standard voting procedure applies. Only one vote per person for each matchup. You must must vote for every matchup or your vote will not count.
- For rounds posted Monday-Thursday, voting will take place for 24 hours. Rounds posted on Friday will allow voting until the same time on Monday.
- Matchups ending in a tie when the voting time is up will be allowed one tie-breaker vote after the voting time ends.
- Friendly jabs and light-hearted taunts during the voting periods are fine, but all drafters and voters are asked to refrain from personal insults and other malicious comments.
- Voters will be asked to make their selections based on three aspects:
- The writing (is the story as funny/moving/scary/epic as it sets out to be?)
- The artwork (pencils, inks, coloring)
- The significance (personal/historical/cultural/internal as in significance to the fictional universe)
- Voters will be allowed to weigh these questions as they see fit, but if they are stuck, they can use these questions as a guide to make a selection.
- Voters are also asked to pay the participants the respect of clicking the informative links relevant to the draftees. I dont' want to see any of this "what's that?" nonsense.

Would it make me a total ***** if I went through my take on Superman again?

Quote:The reality is that you're wrong, sir.I believe he's recently stated that he'd do it pretty much as he did Batman, i.e., an angsty, brooding, grimly realistic character. Personally, I think that's fine for Batman, but I don't think it's a good approach to Superman.
***
The reality is that I don't think a good Superman movie can be made any more. Mainstream audiences aren't interested, and geekdom audiences aren't interested in a character who has to have planets flung at his head to be put in danger. (This, incidentally, is the reason everyone's fallen so in love with Batman as the World's Greatest Superhero: because it's easily to put a "normal" human, even one with improbable physical skills and, apparently, the combined abilities of the Oracle of Delphi, Sherlock Holmes, and Einstein, in situations that look physically perilous. Can't really do that with Superman.)
A good Superman movie can be made, but it's just harder to do than Batman, because Batman is essentially a revenge story, which seems easier for most to identify with or be entertained by than someone who is doing the right thing just because they can.
Still, it's no coincidence that some of the best Superman stories are the ones who get to that concept. -
I'm just wondering who they'll get to voice Darkseid. They've already got Michael Ironside as Lois' dad.
Maybe Ron Perlman? -
I'll start it a little later today. Yesterday was the birthday of my little sister who died so I wasn't in the mood to do much.
-
Another 24 hours and I would have saddled you with One More Day.

Sweet. Looks like they're going all out for these last two.
I kinda feel bad for the characters, though, cuz I know how much of a kick to the balls this will be for them most of the time. The last one was pretty dreary.
And we're going to have to wait til like July for the awesome of the end battle! Gah! -
I like Hulk more when he's not the the main focus. I like Ultimate Hulk during Millar's run because he was used sparingly to give his rampages more significance.
-
Maybe it'll turn out that Chuck or Ellie has a different dad and they'll be a "that's not true, that's impossible" moment.

Someone poke Unknown_User with a stick so we can keep this going. -
Well, at their best, they're all supposed to be the handsome rogues that the ladies love. They all have their own ways of going about things as well as respective shortcomings.
Tony and Bruce have the edge over Bond because they're famous and rich.
Bruce and Bond have the edge over Tony because they're less likely to furk up due to being intoxicated.
Bond and Tony have the edge over Bruce because they have more experience with following through on their seductions.
Bruce has the advantage of not necessarily needing to seduce the woman to resolve the scenario, as he's the world's greatest detective.
Tony has the advantage of being able to obtain information instantaneously and wirelessly if he's the Extremis version.
Bond has the advantage of most successfully executing plans that are created on the fly.
In the end, I think Bond probably wins at this scenario because he's got near Bruce's level of stealth and Tony's level of seductive capabilities, yet he's probably unknown to the woman so there's less chance of her getting suspicious of a well-known billionaire who may very well have financial or political ties to her family or organization making a move. -
Also, I wouldn't compromise on the language if it's minimal. I used some profanity for English projects in high school and the teacher just rolled with it.
-
The only thing I worry about is the budget. The Incredible Hulk finally provided us with the modern superstrength smackdown we'd been dying for ever since Superman fought the Phantom Zone Criminals in the Donner films, but more than one person said the CGI could have been better.
-
Now we must offer suggestions as to who should be the next Grettas!
-
Ugh. Watching Chuck online right now. Special appearance by Olivia "Accept me, geeks!" Munn, I see.
