  1. It's a good story, but going through the origin again is unnecessary.

They should hit the ground running. Clark is already Superman. Lois and Clark are already married. Lex is already Superman's archenemy.

What do you expect after they find out they can go down in film quality while going up in box office?

    This is Krypton!

I'm more concerned with the writing and overall interpretation of the character and universe they go for.

I don't know, if they rolled out a bunch of comic book movies that were recreations of the best stories, I would make sweet sweet love to those films and give them my money.

I've actually been enjoying the appearances of other DC characters in the show.

I think a lot of time the anger at the show is just unjustified nerdrage at how some characters are portrayed. It's just a silly CW show, not a major motion picture.
It wouldn't be so bad if the characters were smarter and the show had the balls to experiment.

Buffy and Angel were shows about folks with superpowers, and they didn't even need to fight all that much, but the characters we well-written and the creative team had fun experimenting with different things like a musical episode, a silent episode, and episodes where we didn't even see the main characters. Supernatural is like that, which is why it's the superior show.

I want to see something more akin to the build-up of the Kingdom Come Diana. A proper Amazonian princess with a clear mission.
To be fair, though, Wonder Woman's never had a clear mission. That's one of the problems with her character, and it was touched upon in Kingdom Come. I mean, her mission is supposed to be something in the vein of "make the world better" or "bring peace to man's world" or something, and those are so vague.

Perhaps they'll make it My Name is Earl with superpowers, and Diana will just try to help one person a day.

Kinda like how many of the girls who watch Smallville, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, and basically all of the CW shows tune in to see the guys.
  8. I'm not a fan of the smokey Darkseid either, but being that he's a god, his powers have always been somewhat varied. I mean, in some versions he's just got superstrength, invulnerability, and the Omega Beams; in others, he's got time travel and telepathy/telekinesis. Not to mention his Omega Beams are supposed to be able to do different things, from destroying life to opening boom tubes to transporting people/things across space and time.

I'll forgive the smokey entrance as long as they stay away from that sort of thing from now on. Darkseid is too arrogant for intangibility/invisibility-based powers; he wants people to know he's there and he's the one who's going to own you for the rest of your short life.

Well it's Superman vs. Deadshot. Not much fight potential there, unless you incorporate Kryptonite bullets, which would have made it more groan-worthy. This is why I kept saying it would have been better if it was Green Arrow trying to stop Deadshot in the episode.

Also, this is his attempt, I suppose, to "come out of the shadows" a bit and have a bit of colour. So why choose such a dark red? I would have liked a blue coat with a red symbol, something that's just a step away from his real suit. I mean, he's already seen (and seemed to like) the Superman suit, so why not move a little closer to that?
I think someone commented that perhaps this look was an homage to his look in Godfall.

  11. With Cas saying that someone's stolen weapons from heaven in the preview for next week, it's clear that the writers didn't succumb to the notion that there was nowhere else to go after beating the devil.
  12. Here's the last scene of the episode for those who missed it, featuring the new look: linkage
  13. They have a hard enough time making Wonder Woman appealing to an audience and maintaining a stable interpretation in the comics; I'm worried that this project is very likely to bomb and hurt any chance of a Wonder Woman film.

Their basing this point on precognitive notions that NOF will differ from this. Again, bringing home my point that it's ridiculous to compare after one episode.
Well when the show builds up to those fights that end up being off-camera for their season finales and such, I think it's fair to base judgment on that, since you'd think they'd want to put their best foot forward and if the best they can do is a non-fight, folks have a right to be disappointed.

Folks aren't saying that NOF will be great; they're saying Heroes already sucked.

All I'm saying is that...it's absurd to say that this is what you wanted heroes to be after only one episode. It's ridiculous to exaggerate and make things up about a show in order to make another show look better.
Er, but folks keep pointing to how Peter and Sylar kept getting into off-camera fights, and that's true.

They also bring up how those who embraced their abilities were limited, thrown away, or poorly written, and that's true.

    Who's making things up?

You say "Heroes hate" as if folks who stuck with the show season after season didn't have reason to hate the show after all the times they'd been let down. It's not blind, ignorant hate. It's absolutely justified.

Eh, I think it's understandable after trudging along with a show that kept on disappointing.

I mean if after Smallville was over they premiered a new show about Superman that had good characterization, respectable metahuman fights, smart characters, and good dialogue I wouldn't be surprised if people immediately said it was superior.

EDIT: You can praise NOF all you want...as I too think it will be a good show...but exaggerating details and flat out making things up to "show how much better NOF is than Heroes" is a bit absurd.
Well the folks who did embrace their abilities on Heroes were neutered in some way or another in the show, which is what I think he alluded to when he said the show seemed to have something against characters who liked having powers.
  19. I don't think they should do Luke Cage too seriously. He could be a somewhat more adult version of Ben Grimm.

  24. Of course you just know they're going to have to take on the mom's boss, but once his army of metas goes down he'll have to gain abilities himself.
