You might as well say the same about the Council. They are just using their right to free speech and assembly. Do the guys listening to the soapbox guys carry guns?
Council's a different case. While not /technically/ legal in the states, in many countries wearing certain symbols to denote particular alliances is a criminal offense. While, granted, we still shouldn't have the right to go about beating up people wearing Council Logos, we somehow know who everyone in The Family is despite them just dressing like legitimate businessmen and supposedly using Organized Crime to protect themselves.

And legalities aside, they advertise being in the council. It's the equivalent of beating up guys with swastika shirts. Even if it's illegal, it's awesome.

Really, the Family is just the sloppiest Mafia in the history of anything.

They're fixing this. In GR. In order to allow you to make praetorean versions of your pre-existing characters.
  3. Do Crystal Titan/Hydra enchancements fall off when you outlevel them like SOs or do they stick like IOs? If they fall off... That should probably be changed.
  4. I think it's safe to say we won't be getting a medieval area. While there are many time periods we could explore, City would need to do a really unique take on medieval to not give that area a Fantasy MMO feel, and I don't think City wants to cross over into that territory.
  5. I can imagine people forcing themselves to 49 to get just a slightly bigger boost of rewards vs 54 enemies... In fact, that seems like it'll happen a lot.
  6. That'd be pretty cool. I'm in favor of it.
  7. I wouldn't mind having a few things like this thrown in with booster packs. It'd be kinda cool.
  8. I think he's suggesting i17 come out in april. If so, /signed.

And this, of course, would have meant no AE ever, because many of these exploits took many, many players a significant amount of time to find out, and if it had only been the devs, or only on test, then they'd probably still have not figured out half the exploits they've shut down.

Inflation is caused by currency entering the economy faster than worth is entering the economy. Supergroup mode causes currency to enter at a lower rate. Okay, maybe it's not a "sink" as defined, but it still helps combat inflation.

...And the idea of free-building in PVP is pretty awful. It'll firmly cement PVP as being completely unrelated to the rest of the game, and at that point, why bother? Especially as this would make the PVP Zones the number one farm zones as you can suddenly slot yourself to be a god in Siren's Call and have the best farming build there. We'd turn PVP Zones into farm zones, filled with people who get indignant when you have the gall to attack them. And we've got too many of those already.

Yes, right now we've got an issue of having to PVE to PVP except... This isn't a PVP game. It's a PVE game that had PVP added later as a secondary feature, and PVP still has a lot of issues, not the least of which is the rewards.

Also, invalidating all the money people spent on PVP builds is a really, really bad idea, especially when one of the accepted purposes of dual builds was already to have a second PVP build.
  11. I DID say it was silly.

But yeah, my team play opinion is still "X% bonus damage to foes who aren't targeting you." Probably about 25%
  12. You know, I never noticed that before, but you're absolutely right.

  15. ...Okay, backing up here a moment...

    Tokyo, sweetie? BASES COST INFLUENCE

Now I know I'm one of those guys who goes overboard on bases, but by my calculations, I've "spent" well over 200,000,000 Infamy on prestige just by having never left Supergroup Mode since hitting level ten.

If you're saying the prestige price drop was a bad idea, okay, I can see why you might say that, but saying that the storage is free? That's just silly.

Now let's try this again. You're saying that base storage should cost MORE influence, not that it shouldn't be FREE. Okay?

    Now that that's settled:

Bases are a great inf sink. If the devs were to do something to actively encourage people to use their bases, it would keep a lot of inf out of the system, as Supergroup Mode cuts inf rewards from enemies in half at any level people are farming at. A shame the devs keep neglecting bases.
  16. I'd just like to say, for the record, that I have an IO'd out tank with Stamina, Physical Perfection, and Conserve Power who still runs out of endurance all the time. That may have something to do with Hasten and Rage, sure, but the fact remains that endurance is an issue.

Some say that there's a point when you've got so much endurance recovery that you can't run out of endurance. In my experience, that point either requires major buffage from teammates or your recharge rate is just way too low.

I'm just gonna throw my lot in with Umbral here. I pretty much agree with all his points... And as for Leo's point of increasing AoEs, something that I don't THINK was touched on (but I might have missed it in the wall of text at 4 AM)...

This would horribly shift the balance of the tanker sets as is. Super Strength has ONE AoE, Mace has THREE, and Dual Blades has three plus special effects. You'd need a total rebalancing of the sets, because AoE isn't something all tankers are generally equal at in the way that, say, all scrappers perform about the same number of melee attacks (a lot).

Now here's a silly idea for team bonus: Give Tankers a bonus to damage when targeting through a Tanker or Brute. No, I have no idea how this would work or make sense, I just know it would buff them when working together.

But yeah, if Tankers get a change to their inherent, it has to be a change that affects all their sets about equally with one sweep. Like a 25% increase in damage when targeting foes who aren't targeting them.

Pies is the plural of Pie.
R is another way of saying "are"
    And + means good.

    Thus, Pies are good.

    Horribad suggestions all around.

Want to fix the inflation problem, increase the drop rate, merge the markets, create more inf sinks for stuff folks would want to spend inf on, stop with the insane amount of costume change codes (at this point though this ship has already sailed), and unfix the bug that stopped lvl 50s getting inf at insane rates.

Anything that mucks around with the market directly is NOT a good idea.
Increase drop rate, as I said, is a temporary solution. It creates a surge of supply and drops prices, but doesn't actually stop inflation.

Merged markets... I don't see how that will stop inflation either. Blueside has inflation. Redside has inflation. Why would a merged market not have inflation?

More inf sinks, yes, that's what we need to do. It needs to be stuff people want to spend inf on for mechanical benefit, but where the money leaves the system. Like IOs bought from vendors.

What do costume change codes have to do with inflation?

And yes, lowering inf generation of 50s would help.

Which is hilarious when the Sky Skiffs DO appear in office maps. I've seen them in rooms that they are just plain not small enough to get through the doors of and it always throws me for a loop.

And I think this is the best argument for having merits nontransferable, though it's an addition to the system, not a necessary part. I'm not sure people would be that upset if the 5 merits were removed from the vet reward in favor of something else. 5 is not a lot of merits.
  23. I like the idea, but I'm going to wait to see what happens with i17 before making any real comments on it.

I wonder what would happen if after level 50, the xp portion would become merits points, which could be converted to merits. So a couple hour's play time would end up giving most people a couple merits, no matter what they did. Hmmmm.....supply up, inf. down.

    I babble on at times.

...I really like this idea, actually. I mean, I'm sure there's some glaring hole in it, but I do like the idea of level 50s getting something else instead of double the inf of level 49s. Something non-transferable. Somebody in a time zone where it isn't 2 AM figure out the problem with this.
