As far as I'm aware, the reason that a lot of titles went bye bye is that the licensing companies overpaid on the license at the height of the trend, and when it came round to time to license time again, too much dilution in the market meant they couldn't afford the fees. That's a brief and possibly inaccurate summation of the situation as described to me a year ago by someone with pretty good connections to the trade, AFAIK.

I buy a silly number of Manga series, several of which (Rosario Vampire, Flame of Recca, Bakuman to mention three that spring to mind) I only encountered initially by reading scanslations that looked like they could be interesting.

And I'm STILL waiting on someone picking up Hajime No Ippo.

It made more sense to me to put it into BU rather than Tactics, as at least then, I've got a little more control over when it fires and when it does go off, you make such a glorious mess of your target

Ever since they added a buff icon to indicate that the proc's fired (the SR/Quickness icon, by the look of things) it's so much easier to notice it's actually gone off.

My completely unfounded and speculative pet theory regarding The Lady Grey is that when she steals life from someone, she doesn't get just extra time added to her allotted span, she gains some degree of knowledge/informations/memories from the 'donor' too.

That might explain why she's so cagey, as she doesn't want to have to explain where she's gotten her information from, or from whom she siphoned it.

Well, it keeps me amused, at least, YMMV.

Hell, find a Mothership Raid that's going on and join it.

Attended one on Union on Wednesday evening. 591 VG merits and 5 or so Incarnate Shards.

Trade in 150 of those VG merits for a Gr'ai Matter and you're most of the way to a common alpha enhancement (or at least most of the way to a common that uses Gr'ai Matter, anyway...).

My understanding of the Incarnate system is that it is not intended to be a 'one week later and you're done' system. It's an ongoing thing and while you can speed things up by running TF's, it's all available solo.

Oh and Incarnate Shards are nowhere near as rare as purple recipe drops. they seem to be about rare salvage drop rate solo, slightly higher than that teamed, as I seem to remember reading in beta that unlike salvage drops, everyone on a team has a chance to get a shard with each kill. It's not a change of a drop and then that drop goes to one team member.
  7. 2 Runs tonight, both Blueside.

1st run, Red AV. 20 mins of faffing around on the first stage before we got it sorted (the usual problems, obelisks getting out of phase with each other's cycles), then the AV went down fairly easily.

2nd run, Purple AV. Obelisks dropped like a sack of spuds. We bounced off the AV for 15-20 minutes then gave up. We were scratching him, but not deeply enough or for long enough.

    That's my opinion.
Purple recipes have never been difficult to get, just time consuming., so I'm not sure how calling for greater challenge relates to purple recipe drop rates.

Also, if you want greater challenge from the other content in the game, there are all sorts of options, like setting your difficulty to +4 and starting TF's with the 'Disallow Inspirations' and 'Disable Enhancements' options turned on.
  10. I've had periods before where I've gotten a purple recipes every couple of missions for a week, and then pretty much nothing for months afterward.

OK, so anecdotal evidence is anecdotal, but I don't pay attention to short term trends in drop rates any more.

If you're still getting them at that rate in a months time, then enjoy casually purpling out your <insert AT of choice>

(Yes, yes, I know about the whole 'casual purpling' thing, just blame it all on the flippers, those damn dolphins seem to be to blame for everything else on the markets...)
  12. Does this count as Wacky?

If you do the maths, you'll see that I had them listed nowhere near that sale price...

Not quite as good as the single Resist IO I had sell for 14M, while a Crushing Impact I'd had drop and made up to sell went for 3.5M. That just felt wrong.
  13. Anything with Caltrops...

Each damage tick from Caltrops seems to start a fresh instance of the unresistable damage DoT.

I went through all my bins, checked all my alts, and I didn't have a single Silver. Then, I remembered about the Vault, and lo and behold, I had one lone Silver on my main.

    Victory was mine.
In that situation, I'd have found an interesting looking Long/Very Long/SFMA AE story arc, and wandered through it.

Then, since the prices on high level commons are pretty ludicrous in several places at the moment, I'd have blown a load of tickets on common salvage.

But then, I'm odd like that. I refuse to ever pay over 50k for a common, let alone 2M, regardless of how much of a hurry I may think I'm in. I won't go over 100K for an uncommon, either and I don't need to, thanks to a buffer of a few hundred AE tickets.

Of course! How could I be so foolish!

My making up Generic IO's from cheap and plentiful common salvage and selling the resulting product for less than it would cost someone buy a recipe from a crafting table and make it up themselves is the true path to EBILNESS!!!

Cutting a swathe through the rikti spawns when I noticed something. Whenver you hit a Rikti Drone, there's a new sound effect. A sort of electronic 'chirping' noise, like a muffled R2D2 burble.

  19. My desktop is called 'Moneypit' because I spent more on it than I probably should have.

My last Desktop, which died, was called 'Bankruptcy' for the same reason.

My Synology NAS box, which started off with 2x500Gb RAID-1, is called 'Cavernous', because when you start off with a half a terabyte to fill, anything you put on it echoes. It's now 2x1Tb drives in a RAID-1, since one of the 500Gb's died and thus the benefits of RAID-1 were made clear

I call my Palm Tungsten T|X 'The Widget' when referring to it, or my 'External Brain', since it remembers things so I don't have to. (Yes, it's pretty much obsolete technology, but I neither want nor need a mobile phone, and I get about a fortnight to a month between charges. Get that on a mobile phone, I dare you :P )

Like the outer glows on the sub-screens indication Hero or Villain status of the toon in the screenshot.

And I've not struggled to afford SO's on any toon since my first one, initally due to inf from friends (repaid when they needed SO's) and later due to the faceless buyers on the market taking all the random crap off my hands and giving me lumps of inf in return.

But saying that sort of thing obviously makes me an individual of questionable sanity and honesty around here

  22. I'll explain.

I've sold the grand total of one purple recipe since they were introduced, and that was to fund a Numina +regen/+recovery for an alt. They are shiny things to be kept and stroked occasionally, just like temp powers. (OK, so I'm odd, bear with me)

I finally got to the point where I was just carrying too many of the damn things on a couple of alts that I play a fair bit. Only having 7-10 free recipe slots on a toon with 34 of the damn things is a little tedious when you need to stop every 10 minutes to delete temp power and generic recipes. However, pretty much all of my 50's had one or two purples in their tray.

So I decided to sell up.

    All of them.

No 'Ah, but I might need that' get out clauses. All purples must die from all my toons. I was never going to use any of them anyway, since I'm not keen on their set bonuses, and there's a reasonable possibility of the prices dropping in the medium to long term due to more people playing 50's with the incarnate system imminent, so it's as good a time as any.

This was Tuesday/Wednesday of last week.

Before this happened, I had four and a half toons at the inf cap, courtesy of my Generic IO manufacturing and selling routine.

Now that all bar about two of the purples have sold?

Oopsie. And there're a few more toons with liquid assets in the 250-700M inf range.

Now that I can afford anything I might want, I find I don't actually want anything. (also known as a Vienna moment, as in Ultravox (about 1:20 in) - 'This means nothing to me, Ohhh Vienna....')

I've almost totally stopped my Generic IO sales routine, because well, what's the point now?

(OK, so this post is about 50% legitimate comment and 50% gloat, but hey, what other use do I have for the inf, other than gloating... I gave about 600M of it away because, well, Vienna.)

I've got one alt with a half-baked IO setup, and even with that, she's hideously effective by my standards, (MA/Shield Scrapper, at the lower right of the composite screenshot, defences at 44%melee, 42%range, 34%aoe, enough recovery to fight more or less constantly.) the others are a mix of SO's, Generic IO's and occasional IO sets from when I could be bothered. I find the process of putting together an IO build to be a complete faff on, so I don't bother, because I don't need to.

Anyway, this has been a 'Look how Ebil I am!' gloat post combined with a bit of random waffle, and a side order of 'What now?'.

    Later, folks

I think they're referring to being unable to reliably target the unphased and only the unphased enemies for Single Target attack powers. AoE's have less of an issue in that regard.

If you're wasting attacks on phased opponents because you can't tell that they're phased, then all the power's really done is extend the fight by 30 seconds and annoy the players throwing attacks that are rewarded with 'UNAFFECTED' damage numbers.

At least, I think that's what was meant.

I can't remember who said it, but I seem to remember reading somewhere on these boards that on average you'll get a purple recipe drop every 1500-2000 mobs defeated.

The 'on average' bit is the killer, as we all know how nice and friendly the Random Number Generator can be when it's in one of its moods

Keep fighting 47+ mobs and you'll get purple recipes eventually. Of course, then you start getting Fortunata Hypnosis drops and wonder why you bothered, but that's another issue entirely
