Could we maybe, I dunno, get explanations for when our ideas get shot down?

    [/ QUOTE ]

While Powerhelm's tone is a little more strident than I'd be here, I do agree with his questions here. If the ideas we're proposing aren't going to be used because of some kind of exploits, why not go ahead and tell us what those exploits would be? If the idea isn't going through, we're only dealing with hypotheticals anyway. The only outcomes would be either a) us working together, players with the devs, to try to address these exploits, b) the players see the problems the devs are facing, and back off some more, or c) the players and devs don't agree on the problems, and nothing happens.

A or B are better situations than that we have right now, which is pretty much identical to C.

    I concur.

Pointing out potential exploits is generally a very bad idea for developers, even if the system in question isn't currently being implimented. Why? Because it may suggest other possible exploits that are currently in existance that people haven't thought of yet. Besides, the devs have a lot more to do than spend all their time in the forums nitpicking "What if?" scenarios from every single post. "It would allow several exploits" is more than enough of an answer. Discussion over, move along, and let them get back to work.
  2. Honestly, I find most of this thread highly amusing. If people put as much energy into just playing the game as they do into analyzing exactly how to get max exp per second, they'd probably be ahead by now.

It's really not rocket science. If you are on a team and want exp, stick together. If someone falls behind because they are too slow or afk, just don't worry about it. The exp they drain isn't going to be significent in the long run (unless they simply never participate, in which case you just boot them), and they lose more for being akf/slow than you do. It's simply NOT that big an issue.

I'm not really fond of the changes, but I'm less fond of the PLing that has become rampant, especially in PI. Abuse a system, it'll get fixed in a way you don't like and hurt everyone. We see this over and over and over in games like this, and yet people still persist in doing it, then whining when the inevitable hammer is lowered.

The system isn't perfect, but it's not even remotely close to the end of the world. Give it a try on test before crying foul too much.

Am I the only one who sees possible problems with the magnetism line of controllers?

There is ONE hero in all of comics that has claws similar to the claws set in CoH. Therefore there can arguably be a copyright violation there. I see the same problem with a magnetism set for conrollers. I mean... there are other options for controllers... nature control - make grass and what not entangle and ensnare your enemies. body control - specialize in posessing the bodies (but not the minds) of your enemies.... etc.

I guess I don't see a need to delve into the dangerous waters that are magneto.

Considering the fact that magnetic powers are hardly exclusive to either Magneto or Marvel, I don't see it as being an issue at all. There are multiple heroes and villains alike that have powers based on magnetism, and not only in Marvel's rogue gallery.

    Boss Changes

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

States, it has been the experience of a great many players (mentioned on other threads) that *multiple* unnamed bosses show up on missions that they entered alone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'll check this!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll testify to this. I just did a solo mission with at least 6 unnamed bosses in it - there may have been a couple more, but I'm positive a minimum of 6. There were 4 in the last room alone, albeit spread out enough that I could do them one at a time. Granted, it was the end of a SA and I play on Unyielding setting, so I kind of expected that, but it was still a bit painful to say the least. On the other hand, I did manage to get my way through it solo, although those Rikti Magus were seriously nasty business, and required more than a little preplanning and luck to take down.

    The Kudos Thread

I have to add my kudos as well. The game overall is amazing, and I'm personally loving Issue 3. Sure, there are a few minor points that are irritating at the moment, but those should go away with the respec. In the meantime, the additions look wonderful, by and large. My Invuln scrapper is doing *better* now, which I expected in spite of all the predictions of doom, and will be doing better still one respec comes along. I'm loving the mission difficulty adjuster - while it hurts, I can solo the Invincible level, which I find great fun. Post-35 has been dull for me, because I could solo so far over my head that missions had become just an excercise in running through an area and wiping everything out without breaking a sweat. Now I actually have to work on a mission, and stop periodically to decide if I really want to charge into that next room, or maybe be a little more creative. For me, that makes the game much more fun. I don't think I've lost soloing on an non-AV mission since around 35th level. It's nice to have that sense of risk again. I still haven't made a trip to the hospital, but I'm definitely coming closer now. Woot!
  6. Wow! At least someone gets the picture. Personally, I love the Exemplar system. Sure, it'd be nice if it had more benefits for the exemplar, but the point of the system is to let you play on an even field with younger friends who need help with *their* storyarcs, TFs, and such. For that, it works wonderfully, and it is for that reason I use and like the system. Folks are absolutely correct - it sucks for personal gain on a numerical level. That would be because the system isn't designed for that purpose. If all you care about is personal gain, don't use it! Pretty much a no-brainer to me. If you want to enjoy the game with a few friends who don't want to skip over their own storyarcs and TF opportunities, it is a perfect tool.

News flash, folks! Not everything about the game is about gaining exp/inf/levels. Some people player multi-player games for the chance to...well...play with other players. Exemplaring is merely a tool to help make this possible, and one that is sorely lacking in most other games. Kudos to CoH for making it work, even if it isn't the most beneficial in terms of material gain.

    [ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure the only 'advantage' to the Exemplaring system is getting to play with your lower level friends.

In a while (when it goes live) you'll also be able to go back and pick up TFs you missed.

Any negatives in the system (loss of powers, no enhancements, etc) are there to keep it from being abused.

All the Devs were looking for is a way to let higher levels play with lowers.

Why are people looking for more advantages then this?

  7. I've still got it from pre-patch, and it still won't let me past Ms. Liberty on the Virtue server. Definitely still broken.
