Quote:Still waiting for the numbers you were going to get months ago to prove or disprove thatMy shield/ice is faster than my fire/ice. I have a shield/fire too... guess which one is the fastest? Shield Charge > Burn.
The real question is AAO vs Fiery Embrace and Shield Charge vs Burn/Blazing Aura/Consume -
Kinetics makes any Fire tank a death dealing machine. Throw in some AoE immobs as noted above and life will be good
-
Quote:A well played Shield/Fire/Pyre may give you a run for your money. It also depends on what you are farming and what your farming goal is. I can also see /Elec being big for farming but as I said I have not tested it yet.um the best farmer for tanks is a fire/fire/pyre
b.a./combustion/burn/consume/fire sword circle/f.e./b.u./fireball = win!
i can say some of the other guys posts are right..they can do ok. better then ok but their not the king of farming.
they might not be the "funniest" farming tanks( funniest is to your personal preference) but its the best hands down
In the end you are looking at ether Fire/ or SD/ for the top tier solo farming sets. I would put Willpower up there too, if only for the +recovery keeping your downtime to a minimum. -
Quote:Thanks for the reply. I'm curious about your Fire/SS. Do you currently have alot of io's for recharge on that build for healing flames? How high can you handle comfortably without sweating too much ie. +2/+8's ?
I guess I should of stated in the original post that I'm looking for something that doesnt require too much inf investment. I know sometimes investing can bring back greater returns, but I hate the idea of spending a ton on a farmer so i can spend a ton on something elseI guess its a never-ending circle either way.
Thanks again!
My Fire/SS has a lot of IO's, and is my long-term project. Primary he is built for +Recharge, then +Recovery and +Regen. I skipped out on Weave so my Defence is near nil.
How high I can handle vs what I enjoy is are two different things, and do depend on mob type. Drop any Fire/ tank on a demon farm and the settings mean nothing. Against primary S/L mobs I can max the settings out, as can most generic builds.
My personal preference is +2/+5. Gives me a good challenge if I herd on MA's without having to resort to countless inspirations.
It is hard to beat a Fire/ as a solo farmer, just for all the built-in utilities that keep you independent. Shield/ has a good advantage with Shield Charge as it makes a great Alpha mitigation utility. -
Fire/SS/Pyre or Shield/SS/Pyre both make great farming builds. I run my Fire/SS all the time and have a blast.
Shield/Elec may work well too. Mine is too low to really tell, but in the right situation it can tear groups of minions apart. -
If my searching is right these have not been taken....until now.

Calash - Fire/SS/Pyre tanker
Built on recovered Rikti technology he gains an advantage against them, but at a cost.
+3% Resistance to all type of damage from a Rikti source.
+ Ability to detect Rikti or Rikti based objectives on a mission map. All members of the team can see the enemy locations on the map.
- 3% damage to Rikti targets. -
80 looks like a lonely number. I choose it to make it happy.

I would not be surprised if it is the same doom crier, just on different accounts. Text patters, spelling errors, and general flow of the posts match up very well.

This deserved the Pie-O-Matic 4000 treatment.
Please be kind, I have not updated it in a few years, so some key words are not up to date

Yay, you love having huge lag spikes as you get near the black market/wentworths and a busy broadcast. Congrats. Enjoy Freedom. Some of us - many of which you will get replies from with this subject - like *low population* dessert trays. If we *wanted* to be on Freedom, we'd *be* on Freedom."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, when was that post made 2004, about Freedom
HAHAHAHA i am on freedom, lag spikes near market, and busy broadcasts
O your pieny, i have not seen One of these,
i have Seen none of this , its a ghost cake during nite cake
you guys are living in the past pies, , am glad how some of you have friends, but news eaters see ghost towns, and

i cant fix stupid, you just have to learn the hard way, mark my words, if something is not done fast, the decay will only get faster and faster, to their none thing left small hand full of you on each dessert tray -
Toss me into the mix too. This sounds like a lot of fun.

Quote:How can you craft with any efficacy then? If there is no interest in rewards why craft at all?I don't think it's some kind of value judgement. To my eye, what is being called "the regular course of play" in this instance is more along the lines of what someone with no particular interest in a specific reward outside of the gameplay would experience. So, maybe a few story arcs here and there, newspaper missions, maybe a few AE arcs... To make the phrase less loaded, I think I would call it "unfocused" play.
By farming, you're taking yourself out of that mindset to focus your play experience on the rewards and how to achieve them. Therefore, you play the game in a manner most advantageous to the accumulation of the desired reward.
The final extension of this would be the exploiters, who take advantage of holes in the system to maximise the rewards while minimising the effort to a degree below what is considered acceptable. So, personally, I see farmers and exploiters as being on the same spectrum, but they share a square/rectangle relationship when used in this sense. Exploiters might be farmers, but farmers are not necessarily exploiters.
I'm glad the badges were cut. I feel that most badges should be something that can be received with only a slight deviation from unfocused gameplay.
Farming attracts those who like to exploit, this is a truth that I would never argue. But farming being of the same breed as exploiting..that is very wrong.
To the badges, they should be something you have to work for. Sure some can be easy to stumble on but some should require time and effort to gain. Why even bother having them if you get them almost by accident? -
Quote:Is there room for me on that bandwagon? Be my hero too, Rusted_Metal. That was fantastic.
Lets not forget groups such a Longbow, who operate as personal military forces that believe themselves to be above the common mans law. They regularly invade and conduct spy missions on foreign powers without answering to any world court.
At least Vanguard is sanctioned by the UN. All Longbow has is a note that says "Statesman sez...." -
Quote:Wha?!?! You had me onboard until that. Farming is the regular course of play. It is the fundamental action required for any crafting based system, the repetitive gathering of resources. Farming has NOTHING to do with wanting to obtain rewards outside the regular game play, rather it is akin to maximizing your efficiency to gather such rewards.
Farming and exploiting come from the same player desire -- the want to obtain rewards without earning them through the regular course of play. The difference between the two is that one doesn't cross the line of breaking the in-game rules. Accordingly, where there is an opportunity for farming, exploiters will also be present. Even if you don't like the association, it's still there.
Weeds grow in the same field as corn, after all.
Where we see the confusion is that the efficiency of farming attracts those who desire immediate rewards. It is that mindset, not the Farming mindset, that develops into exploiting.
To parallel your final statement...
Drive by shooters drive on the same road as School bus drivers after all.
