But Miyabi, like many others, doesn't know of the changes.
Just trying to halt the spread of old info, and my post wasn't directed at you. -
As seen on Test, with the proc BU slotted against the dummies in RWZ:
Imp: your attack strength has increased temporarily.
Just FYI and all that.
Edit for quick numbers:
Regular damage against a 52 Council boss:
44 18 18
Damage after proc text shows up in chat:
62 25 25 -
Quick note:
Repulsion Bomb has been, for the last year and a half, a straightup targetted AoE with no target cap, scale 1 damage (same as Neutron Bomb), knock down, and a chance to disorient.
It's long animation probably kills it for PvP, but it's a much better power than it used to be -- at least for PvE. -

A reason why hack solutions are generally the worst solutions.
EDIT : And that would only fix it for fire imps.
They would have to go through and do it for EVERY henchman that never spawns at level 50, as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't apply debuffs; use the existing exemplar code. Masterminds always summon their henchmen at their level; when you get two tier-1 henchmen, they're ex'ed one level down, when you get three, they're ex'ed two levels down. Fire imps are always ex'ed down one level from the summoner.
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, they would have to go through and do it for Every henchman and pet that never spawns at level fifty.
[/ QUOTE ]
That might not even work -- what happens if the toon exemplars? You create exemplars of exemplars? That sounds like one of those things that'd cause all sorts of unforseen problems. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ultimately, the issue is that EB PtoD is too much. No complaints about AV PtoD, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wellllll ...
One of the side effects of having enough recharge for perma-dom is that you /also/ end up with enough recharge to hold most even-level EBs pretty regularly, triangles or not. And once you're up in the stratosphere of perma-Hasten or better, things get truly goofy.
That's my biggest complaint about doms; it's not that perma-dom is the Grail, but that nothing improves dom performance as much as having huge gobs of recharge.
Most of other ATs benefit from milking other kinds of set bonuses ... but having soft-capped defense is, IME, not as good as having a hard control up for every spawn you face. -
A L50 toon that exemplars down is ... still a 50, but her combat level (I believe that's the right term) has been clipped.
An Imp is /never/ 50. An Imp is never summoned at 50. An Imp is, tops, 49. An Imp is not a 50 that's exemped down to 49. An Imp is, for all intents an purposes, a L49 toon that cannot have the stats of its powers modified by a purple because purples only work on 50s.
Exemplaring does not factor into this /at all/. -
srsmallboy,
In the case of Imps, you're trying to enhance a pet that is summoned at L49. It's not a question of the power being greyed out or your toon being exemped. Purples simply have no effect on players and pets that aren't 50 -- and Soulbound is /not/ modifying anything you have, it's modifying the your imps' brawl. That is, apparently, the design, and the devs have no way around this.
There's no question of set bonuses or RSKing here.
Purples, as designed, simply cannot enhance attributes on powers for anything that is not L50.
I mean, it sucks. And I just over-wrote two Purples (the Proc and the Damage) because I'm not respeccing my dom, again. But ... it's a game, and I can deal with it.
Plus -- inf flows like water in this game. -
Win7 RC1 is, currently, free (as in beer). It will begin to shut itself down in a year, but you can't beat the price.
Especially since most PCs should have their HDs formatted and the OS reinstalled about once a year.
Caveat emptor: some folks don't like using beta / RC software, but I've gotta' say that Win7 beta has impressed me so far. -

Ahh, I thought the LotG was a unique. But yeah, not exactly cheap either, not to mention it'll be hard to get 5 +def skills on a dom...
[/ QUOTE ]
Concealment pool + Combat Jumping = 4, and, IIRC, Black Scorpion's shield is def, so that makes 5.
Pre-purples, I had my fire / fire perma with judicious use of purples shoved into the concealment pool. -

125% recharge from IO sets and you and throw Hasten away as it won't be needed.
[/ QUOTE ]
This sounds awesome, but it also sounds expensive. Without using purples, you'd need all 5 of each recharge percentage: 7.5, 6.25, 5, 3.75, 2.5. I haven't finished running the math yet, but do we even get enough enhancement slots to manage that? I think we only get 24 powers so I doubt it. That means using purples which is $$$.
Is my math right? Is purple the only way to do this? I think I could orange my entire build for the price of one purple set.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually ...
You can do 5X 7.5 (the PvP hold sets have 7.5, for instance) and 5X LotG. Although numerically identical, they are counted as different bonuses by the engine.
But loading up on LotGs and exotic hold sets isn't exactly cheap, either, so YMMV. -
Just crashed going from CaD to The Midnighter Club on Test on a different (freshly copied) toon.
-
Frankenslot it!
Go to Wentworth's and pick up recipes / enhancements that combine Heal / Recharge / End Redux so that you max out healing (realistically, about 97%, or 3ish white SOs before diminishing returns set in) and recharge, with a side of end redux thrown in.
If you don't know much about Inventions, head over to the Invention forum -- there should be a handful of guides that will explain things better than I ever could. -

The only thing I think the set really needs is a real tier 9 power. Force Bubble is counter productive and somewhat redundant. Not to mention that it just doesn't stack up against other tier 9s.
- Fluffy
- Fulcrum
- EMP (Pulse and Arrow)
- Heat Sink
- Adrenalin Boost
- Liquefy
- Lightning Storm
Then the crown jewel - Force Bubble
Gack.

Well ...
Zoom back 5.5 years.
All mobs save lieuts do significantly less damage at range than at melee.
It was impossible, during beta, to keep all /3/ single target buffs on 2 minute timers on a team -- the single target buffs were supposed to be tactical (or, perhaps, saved solely for melee toons not covered by DB).
The devs truly borked the balance of AoE v. single target, with AoE being far and away more powerful than single target.
If you add all this up, yeah, I can see Force Bubble being powerful ... for the game in Jack's head. But he and the other devs sometimes had blinders on when it came to how powers interact with other, and it turns out that players can game distance more easily with slows and immobs than they can with powers like Repulsion Field and Force Bubble. Even if, strictly speaking, Force Bubble, is better at keeping mobs at range than Tar Patch.
In fact, you can see I5, with its defense nerfs and AoE caps, as an attempt to make distance in general, and Force Bubble in particular, worthwhile. At least, I can see it if I take off my glasses and squint.
The problem, however, is that the game we have doesn't up end being all that much like the original vision; it evolved away from that. And then we end up with the devs buffing the buffs to compensate for the rest of the set because, frankly, that was the easy way out. It's far easier to twiddle some numbers on good powers than to redo half a set. -
[ QUOTE ]
To be fair to the devs, despite my repeated posts on this there would always be someone saying it worked fine. Usually because they mistook the proc firing on Summon cast for the proc firing on an Imp Brawl attack.
[/ QUOTE ]
I noticed this, also, but thought I was missing something, and kept the proc + one other SA enhancement in Imps anyway.
Blaaaargh, that means I've had useless purples slotted in Imps since ... ummm ... purples.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Its just not fair.
[/ QUOTE ]
Word for word, that's what my kids say.
If you want the devs to take you seriously, you should raise your level of discourse beyond that of gradeschoolers. -
Aaaand ... I'm having trouble logging another toon straight into Cimerora on the plain ol' Test server.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Added a note to pieces of the Soulbound Allegiance IO set that will warn the player that slotting this enhancement into a pet power that summons a pet that is lower than level 50 will result in the pet not benefiting from the effects of the enhancement.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uhhhhh ...
Does this mean that Fire Imps gain no benefit from this set?
And ... have they ever? -
[ QUOTE ]
Each time I try to log into a certain character, who is in the midnighter club, I crash, each and every time. Midnighter cLub Broken?

[/ QUOTE ]
Me, too.
On Test 2, I tried zoning from CaD into the Midnighter Club, and crashed. I just tried to log this same toon, Burning Up, and she crashed again. Just IME, but it appears that, at the very least, the Club is borked.
But ... this wasn't a really awful crash since the post-crash "send a bug" window popped up. -

My strategy for bubbling is simply to start at the top of the list and work down. I have a keybind for it. I usually bind the first person a few seconds before the rest. Then I watch him, and when his buff icon starts flashing, I know it's time to refresh everybody.
[/ QUOTE ]
Get! Out! Of! My! Head!
That is, word for word, how I've played my bubbler since the flashing icons thing was added.
Except for the bit about keybinds. I'm too thick to make them. -

Jebus. I really ground out that many PPs?
That's depressing. -
You need ... quotes ... for the boolean thingies to work, even for single words? That's something I never tried
As for the purges -- Jack (AKA Statesman) made The Official Post Regarding FF v. Sonic during I5's beta. It's notable since he gave numbers for the 3 buffs, explained how FF's buffs mitigated more damage against white cons compared to Sonic, while Sonic worked better against higher level mobs. Further, he went on to pitch FF's Final Three powers, laying out The Dev Vision for these powers, and indeed all of FF. It's an insanely good post since it stands as one of the few times Jack gave out numbers, and it's demonstrative of how effective powers aren't always useful (Force Bubble keeps mobs out of melee; most mobs at range do less damage than they do in melee. Therefore, Force Bubble is always good). It showed Jack at his best and worst.
The post and thread stuck around for nearly 3 years.
FWIW, red name posts are not automatically tagged to save -- the tag has to be manually added by one of the mods. So ... at some point, States' thread was tagged to save, but was still nuked. -
So ...
The new software was /worse/ than this?
Whoaaaaahhhhh - that makes my heard hurt.
Dagnabbit, I want boolean searches with pluses 'n' minuses. I want saved threads to stay saved (Jack's post comparing FF and Sonic, complete with numbers, was nuked).
It's funny. The Vault and new forum software would've been new shinies that would, ultimately, keep me more entertained than the MA.
Am I weird? -
[ QUOTE ]
I need to put together a series of mini-guides for all the stuff I repeat over and over.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd write a guide, but I think ones of people have ever read my posts.
True story: I wrote an MA arc a couple days after release I14's release. I published it, hoped to get some feedback ... and then no one's played it
Granted, it is, IME, worth 2 stars at most, but still.
But, yes, you should write a guide. -
So ...
A number of months ago, there was a series of red-name posts about the forums getting brand spanking new software since the current software has, errrr, issues.
Things had progressed to a point where, IIRC, the new software was used for I13's closed beta.
But I havena' heard a word since. Has that project been shelved?
