Super Sidkicking is really bugged.
My 50 joined a level 10 and was instantly transformed to a level 9 with only 6 powers. Goodbye superspeed. So I quit the team to get there but lost the location. I rejoined, thumbtacked it, quit and got there and rejoined. I'm not sure doing all that was faster than sprinting there.
I entered the mission and still only had 6 powers... I thought we got to keep 5 levels more if exemped. We soon found a level 10 Dom & a level 9 Dom (the new me) were no match for the mission.
I switched to a level 15 brute I had. Weirdly, I didn't lose any powers. I superspeeded to the mission, waiting to lose powers once I entered. Entering the mission, I kept all my powers and we easily completed the mission.
Why would a small exemp work differently (and better) than a large exemp?
I still say we should be able to turn this off. -
* Prestige Power Slide uses the running animation half the time
* Air Superiority is no longer stopping fliers from flying. They knock up and fly away.
* Map servered opening aluminum garage door in mission (freedom) when I logged back in, it was not the correct character, but had both my entire chat windows intact.
* teaming with someone of the SAME LEVEL on a mission of the same level, Side kicks you to one level lower. The original description said it would sk people that were not the same level. Plus, it conflicts with the spirit of Leveling Pact, when you are teamed with them, and they are forced one level lower because it is your mission. You should be able to have another option other than SK or die! er.. I mean Quit.
Forced super SKing is the only thing I don't like in i16. In fact, I hate about anything that is forced on me. -
I preordered the game so I got to play in open beta and head start. And they said you had a limited time to buy the lifetime subscription. Sadly, that's all it takes to tempt me to spend money; Limited Time. I figured the game would just have to last 14 months or more for me to save money, plus I'm in beta for Star Trek and get the Mirror Mirror uniforms, which I really wanted. And I get an additional 8 character slots. So I got that while the download was still crashing and starting over from the beginning...
So I play both, Mariel, so I guess I get to rant.
I don't like the graphics. It's weird. Your characters looked like rotoscoped claymation, with a bit of 3-d cgi objects that don't fit. Like 2 styles of art in the same universe.
I love the character creator with twitchy tails and tenticled feet. Plus you can loap like a critter or waddle like a hulk or strut or stroll. And 4 basic attitudes if you don't have a critter head. If you do have a critter head, it has only 1 emotion. I just wish they had someone like Sexy Jay to do the art.
I'm an altoholic and have 7 characters so far and I am really beginning to hate the tutorial which will take you to level 4-6 with only your first level powers and 20 minutes to an hour depending on if there is kill-stealing (well, rescue stealing in the tutorial actually).
You can really pick what ever combo you want, even if that gimps you completely. However your first 2 powers make you like a ranged or meelee scrapper, with an energy building attack, so you have something to do while out of blue and a good attack.
Teaming is horrible. Teams are hard to find, they accidently disband. Half of the missions can't be team shared (which means only the owner gets the bonus) and you don't know where the heck you are going if it's not your mission.
Soloing can be from too easy to impossible not based on difficulty, but based on your build.
They are using the graphical sounds Coh said they were using 2 April firsts ago. Including Freem! I don't know if this is legal, but it looks cool.
The cut scenes and sounds are much better than the graphics. I like the sounds. In the snow there is one catgirl villain you need to defeat and convert, and she says some random funny stuff, like cat girl surgery is expensive, so she had to steal to pay for it. Or she's not really a villain, just a furry who fell in with the wrong crowd.
The end of beta was sort of fun. They leveled you to 40 and had giant robots invade everywhere to defeat and get killed by. Head Start was horrible. they had 1 invasion every 45 minutes that lasted less than 3 minutes each time. First day they buffed villains, nerfed all powers, expecially defense and the few healing powers, and all the travel powers. But your missions send you across maps longer than IP, and they slow you down!! Jack at his most famous.
As an altoholic, the game is VERY repetitive. Here I can start off doing my contact chain or a sewer run, or level up quickly in AE. In CO, I have to spend up to an hour on the dang tutorial then I have one of 2 environments I am stuck in until level 10 and should proably remain in until level 15. And you can use up all your missions in your environment and be stuck with nothing to do in your level range.
So I piddle with CO when I get up very early and can't find anyone on line here. But CoH has better players, better teaming, more consistant graphics and I find it more fun. I'm subscribed to both, but I'm onlyh going to continue to pay for one. (And I'm not talking about the numerous micro transactions that CO has announced, like a way to get the vanity pets) -
I think it has to do with Stocks & Unemployment rising since it happened at about the same time. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20090904...20090904215510
I mean if happening at the same time is good for arguing for cause & effect, this is as good as any. -
Quote:This was my mistake. Tried talking to the guy outside to get in, not talking to the guy inside to get the badge. Didn't know that was the key. Thanks.Well unless they have changed it, only the mission holder needs to talk to the person and give the password. After they go in and get the Midnighter's Badge, everyone on the team gets it and can go in, no need to talk to the person to give the password.
Now, I haven't tried this in a long time and they could have changed it but before, once you have gotten the Midnighter's Badge you can get into the Midnighters Club.
Can someone tell me, has this been changed or was this a bug and they fixed it?
Except, then my 50 is going to be stuck with an incomplete arc and Monty hanging around my contacts on missions I never intend to do.
turning super sidekicking off would save a lot of problems... -
Quote:You're sure that's how it will work? But they haven't. You just have to enter the mission and have your friend 'un-side-kick' by quitting the team and moshing it for you.
Wouldn't the senario more likely be if I had a 40 that wanted to do an ITF, and I teamed him with one of my 15s. We're on the defeat Celene Dion and click 4 computers mission. We enter and my 40 quits, slaughters everything and rejoins in Celene's room, and TPs the 15 there. we each click 2 computers. My 15 completes it and my 40 gets the dreaded "you have not been on the mission long enough to receive any rewards" and doesn't get credit for the mission. He still has to do his 40 mission.
I've joined teams in the middle where they were doing a mission I had by the same contact. We complete the mission, I get the dreaded message and if I do, I never get the "do you want to complete your mission too" option. -
Quote:What badge are you talking about?I see nothing in the thread in any way implying that they are forcing people to do the whole arc and not just the last mission to get the badge.
If you're talking about curing the rikti, the badge doesn't get you in. Ive been teamed where we're all earning the badge at the same rate, and then after curing the rikti, one guy complains because he forgot to talk to Montigue to get the PW to talk to the kid outside. And that's AFTER you get the badge. You need the arc to get the PW to talk to the kid, and it seems each of us needed to do it, because one teammate couldn't get past the kid until he got the next story section, which was the password. Which means you need your own individual arc.
There are times you don't care about XP or rewards. And this arc is it for me.
I want to be able to turn SUPER sidekicking off so I can have some 50 stomp all over content I'm forced to go through with all 144 of my characters. You know, you can't use your 3 day complete the mission with any portion of this arc or I would. They made this arc shortcut proof except for having someone too high on your team. And I hate that they are now removing this option too. -
Well, this is mostly good. But, is there a way to turn it off?
I hate, hate, hate the mission arc (and it's a whole arc) REQUIRED to get into Cimerora (I'm looking at you Lady Jane, you suicidal witch! I've even created rotating binds for taunts to her about her boyfriend to give her a reason to kill herself to use if I'm on a team.)
So I usually join a high level guy with a low level on another of my accounts and rush throught the low levels missions until you craft the Rikti cure, to get 2 of my guys access quickly at the same time. Usually when I am invited to an ITF and I'm on someone that doesn't have access because I hate the arc so much.
So will this still be possible? Or will every one of my characters be forced through this tedium where I'll be wanting to off myself with Lady Jane? -
Hmmmm... Thursday 5:05 pm and I'm the only one in Siren's call. This is either not the time or not the place.
-
Any time Friday or Saturday (with enough notice to rearange my sleep schedule)
EDT
Thursday after 5 PM until I fall unconscious (probably 9 - 11)
Sunday before 8 PM
Mon-Wed from 5 PM until 8-9 PM -
Well, this is sad. Every single link I click in a message (like in the guides) sends me to a 404 error.
-
It was fun after the second start. Thanks for the team.

Can my Mind/Empath controller Purple join?

Welcome to City of Heroes(R), Horatio.
You last played on 4/1/87.
You find yourself standing in Atlas Plaza, the statue of Atlas towers above you. There is a

So, Are you saying Issue 16 is going to be the Golden Age of City of Heroes?
And it will be all text to prevent the lag that lots of graphics causes and make it super stable?
And we will have color customizable text?!
Coolness!!! -
I loved this game when it was an online game called Acrophobia by the makers of You Don't Know Jack, about 10 years ago. Berkley games I think.
Will you have music and big blue letters for the acronymns?
Having never used the email function except to delete spam, is there a quick, click-on-the-player option? Or do you have to type in the person's name?

However, those were never sold as a part of ANY micro-transaction (they were a free part of the free pre-order).
[/ QUOTE ]Pretty sure they were. There was a pack you could buy that just cave the cape and sprints from the DVD edition of CoH. And they weren't a pre-order incentive, they came in the box.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, No.
The Preorder CoH gave you prestige sprints, 1 of 4 depending on where you got them. You now get them all for free with the 12 month Vet rewards.
The CoH DVD gave you a translucent cape of the 4 winds and the Presige Power Slide along with a hero click and a mini comic (very funny) along with the game. They sold the plain brown box of stuff for those who had the game for $19. I got one. Then I purchased the DVD from e-bay for $60 for my nephew. Then Big Lots had a CoX sale, where I picked up enough CoH DVD for all of my and my friends accounts for $10 each. They promised never to give away the cape and the slide since people had to pay for it.
Pre CoV were free and came with 1 helmet of 4 depending on where you got it. The $5 you paid was taken off the CoV program when you picked it up at the same store. Best Buy sold them for 1 cent each after CoV was released. I got 2 and was disappointed that they were the same. I found 2 from different stores on e-bay. The shipping cost more than the box and code. They are given free with the 51 month Vet Award.
CoV DVD came with 7 click figures (unless you got a buggy box that only came with 6, usually missing Ghost widow), and a deck of the CoH CCG, and a Stateman's card that was less than usefull since it didn't come with the cards for his powers. In game you got an Aracnos Cape and insignia and Hmmm... Maybe the Stealth and Exproto outfits. They were so cheap at Amazon (17), everyone got one right away, that I forget. Again, since you were paying for "stuff" the promise not to give them for free.
GvE gave you the Jet Pack and Pocket D pass. This was available online for $9.99, saving me bucks from my obsessive compulsive behavior. This is the first pack that has a power everyone wants/needs. The jet pack makes Superspeed viable without another movement power. Talk about QoL.
Wedding pack was online only. No powers, but costumes and emotes I use.
As was Cyborg Pack. It comes with the power where you can explode over everyone, and some costumes I don't use. I like the robot dance though.
Though I don't own a mac, every account I manage now has the mission transporter as well as the Valkery wings, cape & kilt.
The Magic Pack was awesome. The tarot power is cool, and some of the best costume parts I have seen. A few of my guys now juggle.
And as soon as the science pack is on sale each of my accounts will get to change size. It's better than them giving it to us free as, say, the 63rd month Vet reward.
They saw with the Magic Pack that something cool will get us to buy in droves (we crashed the server the store was on) so it is in thier interest to put something cool like costume model change in a booster pack. -
Pro: You can ignore it & forget about it. Which I have done. I have yet to spend a single Merit Ticket from any of my guys, though my badge hunter has several thousand. Out of site, out of mind.
Con: No instant gratification from doing TF. No recipe rolls. On the few that offer Hami-Os or something similar, I take those because at least I feel like I'm geting something. -
For me I don't get the Raise ally when I get the Physician accolade or Vitalize Ally when I get the Alchemist or the baton or what ever until I log off in the same place AFTER the accolade registered. Then I start earning charges in the power (and get the clickie power for the first time as well)
-
While you can remove friends with the drop down, you cannot remove global friends. And I found there was no /gEstrange command (which the online character help leads us to believe - they show you how to make friends and G friends and to remove friends list only /Estrange) so I came here and found the /gunfriend command. That works, but won't help someone unfamiliar with the boards or who likes Gun Friends.

There is also a bug for bases not accessed for 60 days are deleted.
When you petition to get them back, you get a generic, barn red starter base with a rez ring and some empty storage.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never heard of this bug you are speaking of.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is why I would like people to start new threads instead of declaring bugs here.
This is likely not an issue at all, and just a specific problem for one base.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. It might be specific to my multiple accounts, but it has happened more than once. You have to have no one access it for 60+ days AND the leader needs to change by not being the first to log in.
Then either you'll be locked out, and they'll fix it, or they'll give you a generic base, and you need to repetition to get the base restored to a specific date.
It happened to My Secret Garden, which was the only base I spent hours decorating and covering with Flora. Got an empty base with empty storage & a rez until I gave them the last date the leader logged on. Also a couple of my teleporter only bases after the leader switch (of which there were only 2 members) lost their 2 teleporters and suddenly gained empty storage. Those I am positive on. It never happened to me on test, other than being locked out of a free rent base.
I've became suddenly leader of a few super groups with a few of my alts after the big Character Transfer Migration. Some I remember, some I don't. They sometimes got the same generic red barn look with an empty storage room and a med room. The longer the disuse, the more likely they can't find it and give you something generic. Or so it seems to me. I've had at least 6 bases genericked. Not counting the ones I don't remember, but suspect the 4 room red layout was also a generic. But since I don't recall who the leader was, I can't request a restore date.
This happened to me Issues 10, 11 & now 13. I only got them repaired with a /petition and never with a /bug, so I may not have /bugged them all. -
There seems to be a problem and I bugged it. I Leveling pacted (Is this how you make a verb of it?) a level 2 out of Outbreak with a level 4 on my second account. And I used Power tracking to see the Experience to Next Level. And logged off my level 4. My level 2 ran around doing missions made it to 3 and ran Azuria out of missions. When the General Tab said I gained XP to be split with my leveling pact, my experience to next level either increased by half that or increased by none, until I killed a second mob. and increased by the full amount of the second guy.
As I understand it, since they are not the same level, all XP should go to the lower level guy until they are the same level. Not a 50/50 split. (I havent logged on to my level 4 to see if he got his half or zero and the XP just dissappeared.)
