Powers from Day Jobs Missing?

As a far-gone altaholic (126 so far), and not a tremendously active player, I've been spending most of my in-game time moving characters from one Day Job location to another, and checking the market on the way. As I log in to each character, I check to see what other DJ badges I need to get, especially to work towards the DJ accolades, which along with other DJ badges are supposed to offer click-usage, temporary powers. When I first started getting these powers, I could normally find them in the Powers window under Day Job Powers.

However, lately when I've been checking my characters, their auto-powers received from Day Job badges and accolades are showing up, but not the click powers. Those DJ powers that had been in my power trays are gone.

Are the Day Jobs no longer giving out temporary powers? Are these powers located under a different window or section of the Powers window? Didn't see anything mentioned in the main Known Issues page on COH.com, nor in a Search, but I apologize if this has been brought up before (multiple times?).

I only see this happening with the Market teleporters since they changed it from a "limited time" power into a "number of uses" power.
On a character where I have earned (or re-earned) the "number of uses" version and slotted the power it hasn't disappeared after that until all the "uses" are gone.

I was noting it especially with my villains that were getting their Black Ops accolade (for Arachnos Agent and Thief badges), they weren't getting their Smoke Bomb power at all. Same with the Physician accolade not giving out the Revive Ally power, and Police Chief accolade and its Baton power. These are all new accolades being handed out without powers, not just removal of exisiting powers that have timed- or charged-out.

For me I don't get the Raise ally when I get the Physician accolade or Vitalize Ally when I get the Alchemist or the baton or what ever until I log off in the same place AFTER the accolade registered. Then I start earning charges in the power (and get the clickie power for the first time as well)

As mentioned above, you only start earning charges/time toward your Day Job accolade powers when you log out after you are awarded the appropriate Day Job accolade badge.

Were you able to get the power after even a short time logged out at that location? I've normally been going to a completely different spot after I get each accolade.

And shouldn't that be working immediately, with an initial set of charges rather than having to also wait for even one charge? That seems a little weak...

Once you have the accolade it takes 10 days logged off to get get the full time/ number of charges on the accolade power. This is recorded separately from the 2 Day job benefits that were required to get the accolade.

It's better explained at the Day Jobs and Day Job Badges pages at the Paragon wiki. The total Time/number of charges granted for each power is still being added to the Wiki though.

Let's say for example you are going for the Black Ops accolade, which requires Arachnos Agent and Thief Day job badges.

21 days at Arachnos Bases -> Arachnos Agent badge ->XP bonus power
21 days at Vault ->Thief Day job badge -> Infamy Bonus power

You now have the Black Ops accolade so logging out for 10 days at either the Arachnos Base or Vault will give full charges to the Smoke Bomb accolade power (I just checked and it has 20 when it's full, so 2 charges per day logged off) AND add 10 days to the respective Day job power.

There are advanced badges for each of the Day job locations too, like the "Veteran Arachnos Agent Auto: XP Bonus" is 25% rather than the 10% bonus from the "Standard Arachnos Agent" power.

OK, while I don't agree with not having an initial value at the point the accolade is received, I think I understand. If I have a new character, and I want them to gain the Smoke Grenade power, with a full 20 charges, I would have to:
[*]Log out at Fort Darwin (or another non-hostile Arachnos base) for 21 days[*]Log in, gain the Arachnos Agent badge, and travel to the Vault Reserve in Mercy (or another VR location)[*]Log out for 21 days[*]Log in, gain the Thief badge and Black Ops accolade, stay there or go to a non-hostile Arachnos base

(At this point, I have all of my necessary badges, but no power at all.)
[*]Log out for 10 days[*]Log in

Finally, after 51 days logged out, I should have the Smoke Grenade power with 20 charges.

If I had logged back in just a day after getting the Black Ops accolade, I would have the power, but only two charges. But even if I had stayed logged out for more than the 21 days needed to get Thief and Black Ops, the clock doesn't start on the Smoke Grenade power until after I log in to receive both badges.

Again, I understand, but don't entirely agree.

Yup, that's the way they designed it. It is possible they can only add a badge to a character at log-in, and they check for the badge + day job location at log out; then at log-in add up all the time from log-out to log-in and adjust the power.

Thanks for the thread, I have been wondering about this issue myself and this answers a lot. I have to say I entirely agree with Bradley_IFV's point, and the last coments echos my sentimients as I've begone to realize how Day Jobs work in thems of mechanical game benefits.

51 days -logged off- (i.e. not playing the game with the actual character) just to gain some token benefits...and then they give you a limited use and/or time of effectiveness too? And those temp benefits they give you while earning the Day Jobs, you have to log off for a significant time to earn them as well (and gain limited use/time). I thought the whole point of the game was actually playing your toon, not -not- playing your toon.

There's gotta be a more effective way of working a job/special talent angle for fleshing out your toon's background.

Actually, my main character has over 100 badges (I've only been playing around 2 months), and I didnt have to go through as much tedious work and effort to get any of them as I did to get the two DJ badges leading up to the matching accolade (for which I still dont have the power), and at least I got them --->while playing the game. I'd rather go through a dozen TF's or pay in merits and/or influence (maybe even real life money) to get a power that's available for use when I actually need it for the character that I actually want to play, than try to schedule my time around how -not- to play my character. It's not about wanting things handed to me, its about not having to waste so much time of my life and wait so long (not to metion the monthly fees...though, guess I just did :P) just to get a token power I mostly want for background color for my toon.

And the irony: the characters I play the least, for which I dont even want a thematic day job to match their interests and what not, actually got their day job badges easier (no accolades, since I havent put the effort of scheduling log off times and spots, with the matching day jobs and such), by virtue of not playing them.

I really don't understand the justification for this kind of thinking..
[*]How is it a "waste of time" when the badge is earned by offline characters while you are either playing other characters or doing RL stuff?
[*]We have to wait for Vet rewards too, so does that warrant the same complaint? This sounds more like But I want it NAO issue rather than waiting a mere 21 days.
[*]Your monthly fee is for full access to the game, of which the Day Jobs are a very small part. Your game experience is largely up to you, so if you feel Day Jobs are a waste of your time then ignore them.
