  1. Actually, my main character has over 100 badges (I've only been playing around 2 months), and I didnt have to go through as much tedious work and effort to get any of them as I did to get the two DJ badges leading up to the matching accolade (for which I still dont have the power), and at least I got them --->while playing the game. I'd rather go through a dozen TF's or pay in merits and/or influence (maybe even real life money) to get a power that's available for use when I actually need it for the character that I actually want to play, than try to schedule my time around how -not- to play my character. It's not about wanting things handed to me, its about not having to waste so much time of my life and wait so long (not to metion the monthly fees...though, guess I just did :P) just to get a token power I mostly want for background color for my toon.

And the irony: the characters I play the least, for which I dont even want a thematic day job to match their interests and what not, actually got their day job badges easier (no accolades, since I havent put the effort of scheduling log off times and spots, with the matching day jobs and such), by virtue of not playing them.
  2. Thanks for the thread, I have been wondering about this issue myself and this answers a lot. I have to say I entirely agree with Bradley_IFV's point, and the last coments echos my sentimients as I've begone to realize how Day Jobs work in thems of mechanical game benefits.

51 days -logged off- (i.e. not playing the game with the actual character) just to gain some token benefits...and then they give you a limited use and/or time of effectiveness too? And those temp benefits they give you while earning the Day Jobs, you have to log off for a significant time to earn them as well (and gain limited use/time). I thought the whole point of the game was actually playing your toon, not -not- playing your toon.

There's gotta be a more effective way of working a job/special talent angle for fleshing out your toon's background.
